This was bought for my daughter who is a big johnny Depp fan. She watches this on cable all the time. Why not get the best quality.

Not Depp's best movie, really not my taste. Must be a real Depp fan to enjoy.

This movie is really interesting and different with one of my actors.

I went to see this movie knowing nothing about it except that it was a tim burton movie , with depp as star. and that it was a horror movie. So i knew it would be messed up, in a good way. About 15 minutes into the movie i figured out it was a musical, which at the time i was thinking it was going to be very boring. NOT TRUE!! Its a very odd, but brilliant combo, i mean a horror/musical, come on how much more messed up can that be?? i dont think anyone has done this before and nobody but Burton could pull it off, i LOVED this movie, they picked the best actors fo the parts. Its deff. not a kids movie, and very much not a movie for someone sqweemish lol. This is a must buy. (Later on i found out it was based on a actual musical.) Which kinda make me want to find a taping of the original .

I was prepped for the release of Sweeney Todd in theaters. I had the soundtrack down-pat, I was receiving constant updates from the site, the only I didn't do was catch the Angela Lansbury/George Hearn version. I was so excited to see it on the big screen, and couldn't wait until the DVD release. Depp and Bonham-Carter are excellent. They have great on-screen chemistry. And for two people who really never sang a lick in their lives, taking on such a complicated score, they did wonderfully. The cast as a whole was fantastic: Sacha Baron Cohen, Timothy Spall, Alan Rickman, and Laura Michelle Kelly. One thing to keep in mind though.. this is a Tim Burton film. Keep in mind, those of you who are not Burton fans, this movie is in typical Burton fashion. So, not a fan of Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, or Nightmare Before Christmas? You may not be a fan of Sweeney Todd. Don't say I didn't warn you. For the die-hard Burton fans... this is a must see!

Being a fan of Johnny's I was excited about seeing what he would do with the character of Sweeney Todd. I saw the broadway productionwith Angela Lansbury. The movie 100% better than the play. Johnny singing is better also. A lot of people think Johnny couldn't sing. He is a pretty good singer for a guitar player. I think he did a wonderful job. I did like the ending better as far as Toby goes, but like the broadway play you don't know what happens to Johanna and Anthony. In the play we know about poor Toby. This movie has a lot of bright red blood, but I think thats because the movie is dark, and Tim makes the blood stand out. Look at Sleepy Hollow, bright blood again all over Johnny. I feel this movie is well worth anyones time to watch.

Tim Burton's adaptation of Stephen Sondheim's hit musical is nothing short of brilliant. The brooding world that Burton has created perfectly complements the grim tale of a barber who returns from a forced exile to get revenge on the man who stole his family and destroyed his life. It's not a film for the weak of stomach, since Burton has in no way compromised the bloody premise of the original production. Still, for fans of Burton, Johnny Depp, or musicals in general, this is a must-see, and even those who swear off of the musical genre will find plenty to like about this gothic tale.

The flim is set in london in the 1800,s times are hard. fresh off the boat comes sweeny todd played by Johnny Depp.who returns after being imprisoned for nothing.now he,s back to make those who took him away from his wife daughter pay in blood.he opens a shop above a meat pie shop owned by mrs.lovett played by Helena Bonham Carter.the two come up with a new recipe for her pies.the songs are great and it,s nice to see An actor like Johnny Depp actually be able to sing when other actors can,t..Alan Rickman is great as judge terpin the man who sent tood away all those years ago.

This movie is excelent! I am quite the fan of Helena Bonham Carter - she is one of my favourite actors. Johnny Depp was a wonderful choice for the part of Sweeny Todd himself. Tim Burton is quite the colourful director and made a spectacular film. I bought this from a BestBuy in New York when I went to visit some friends. I had seen it in theatres when it first came out in London, and loved it then! I think that the actors fit their roles precisely and it is a wonderful musical. The singing is spectacular and of couse they are able to portray London as the dreary town that it was then (but it's quite different now!) Overall, this is a great choice of a film to purchace and I highly reccomend that you do so!

Ive been waiting for the blu-ray release of this movie for a long time, I avoided getting the dvd, and when i saw this in store and took it home I was not dissapointed, blew way past my expectations,im usually not into musicals, but the songs are even catchy in it :) had just the right amount of gore in it for me as well :) Id go so far as to say its in my top 2 Tim Burton movies right now :)

This movie is pretty close to perfect. Tim Burton really shows how dark and filthy Todd's world really is with is excellent scenery. Johnny Depp is spectacular as the title character (of course), with great singing chops as well. Helena Bonham Carter actually pulls off her role quite well (she's pretty underrated if you ask me), and Alan Rickman is delightfully frightening, par usual. Overall, an awesome movie. I loved the violence of it! Lots and lots and lots of blood...if that's not your thing, DON'T watch it. But it suits my movie tastes, so I enjoyed the whole thing immensely.

Between the HD movie and all the extras (that are actually informative and entertaining), this is a perfect movie to have. It is dark, and gritty, overly bloody and deals with a horrible plot of revenge. It is well executed and visually stunning, once you get passed all the blood. Downside, it is another Tim Burton movie where Depp's face is painted white. Moving beyond that, even if you don't like musicals, this is well worth the watch for the plot alone. Enjoy this film while eating a meat pie!

I loved this movie. It was only a few more dollars to buy the special edition and all of the special features included are completely worth it. Helena Bonham Carter does a wonderful job as Mrs. Lovett, and the musical score is great. You really get to see more of the story this way. Fans of the broadway series will not be dissapointed. It gives the opportunity to see all of the gore. It was worth every penny and I already know all the words!

I've heard of the musical, but when I'd found out that Johnny Depp was going be the title character, I needed to hear his singing for myself. I'm a big fan of Tim Burton films, and I thought he did a great job as always. I don't usually watch gory films, and this was so bloody that it looked like red paint the entire movie. Was it intentional? Probably... but Burton stayed true to his dark and manic side. Two thumbs way up!

this movie came awfully close to getting 4 stars because it has one to many songs in it. but they all were good because some of them were of key but thats what made them more gritty and added a good style to the movie. this has to be my favorite musical and one of my favorite movies of 2007. and thats saying something because i dont like musicals. johnny depp is excellent and the supporting cast really helps. the openning and closing scenes are great and they way the meat pies are made is sick and great and humoress.

Greatest musical movie adaptation ever! EVerything is just eyepopping and cool. Perfect tone. Johnny Depps singing is good, and acting is great. Seriously I could watch this movie over and over! The amount of blood in this movie may not be for everyone, but I thought it was effective and made it more interesting. If you like Tim Burton WATCH THIS NOW!! If you like Johnny Depp, watch it now! Watch it!
