It's freaking expensive
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yes, this phone is a BlackBerry and costs $150. Even if you didn't activate the phone, you'd get an MP3 player, camera/video recorder, voice recorder, personal organizer, and all the other BlackBerry stuff. What this website doesn't tell you is that the only prepaid plan available for this phone costs $65 a month. The Sidekick prepaid plan is NOT available on phones other than the Sidekick, it was unofficially, but not anymore because T-Mobile fixed the loophole. If you can afford $65 a month for a phone, then there's really no point of getting prepaid, just get a contract. I can't see any advantage of getting a prepaid phone that costs $65 a month to operate.

Awesome phone!! i love it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I absolutely LOVE this phone!! I just got it last night! It reminds me of my t-mobile shadow which I loved. I got this phone as a replacement phone because upgrading is too much of a hassle! The price is amazing!! It has so many features and it teaches you to use the suretype from the beginning and its so easy to use! the keys are nice and soft the trackball is cool too. Its something different. The description doesn't tell you that the blackberry software is included and also the blackberry pouch. Its also more than just the still camera..it has a video recorder as well. The layout of the menu makes it clear to see exactly where everything is. It has a text thread which is awesome because its an ongoing conversation. You do have to lock the phone manually though. The wi-fi set up was confusing to me. But you have several choices to use for im. Oh and it has a red flashing light when you get a message, voicemail...etc!! And the battery has 5 bars that are built to last!! I don't have the blackberry internet plan but the wi-fi is enough for me. All in all it is the greatest!!

Disappointing
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hate to do this because while my phone WAS working it was the best thing ever. The Blackberry pearl has many different things to keep you in the loop and on top of your business. It saves text messages for up to 6 months and you can search them by sender, it has a program that acts as your own stack of post it notes for making shopping lists and jotting down things to remember on the go, calender, alarm all the usual stuff. HOWEVER none of these things matter if you have to keep sending it to the Blackberry company (RIM) to get it fixed. Facebook is a popular option to use on the pearl too but it causes your phone to crash and sometimes it just crashes for the sake of it. These phones are EXTREMLY sensative to water or moisture. If your child gets ahold of it and maybe puts it in his mouth, give it a week and you'll be buying a new one. It is incredibly frustrating to try to send a text and the phone literally puts in what ever it wants. Its like a horror movie. My phone acted up for so long it got to the point that it had called 911 on more than 3 occasions BY ITSELF. I recommended the pearl to a friend figuring she would have better luck and her phone is now a paper wieght. I have owned 3 pearls figuring it was just a fluke but my girlfriend has been through 2 so far and this is all within 12 months. Great phone when it works but when it dies you lose EVERYTHING.

Entry level smartphone
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great phone because it has a music player, a 2mp camera, camcorder. It's a smartphone, you can add apps, and it's prepaid. You can get it for $149.99, thats cheap for a prepaid blackberry. Add the prepaid sidekick plan (you don't need a sidekick to get the plan, I've had the pre-paid sidekick plan on a nokia, samsung, and motorola phone, t-mobile is just trying to convince you to buy one at full price.) A dollar a day for unlimited texting, mms, email, IM, and data.
