I have installed one iPad shield on my own, and had Geek Squad install the other. Installing a shield on an iPad is more difficult than on a phone, but it can still be done on your own. The risk that you run in installing your own shield is possibly damaging the shield, and they are expensive to replace. If Geek Squad tears it, they are responsible for the cost of a new one. Other wise, the shield I put on was every bit as good as the Geek Squad installed unit.
