Hook up was a snap, works well, recordings work as expected. Did not give the 5th star as the older models you could access outside of your home, but this model, while it is accessible by all systems in your home, you cannot access it when you are not on your home network. Disappointed as I was expecting to be able to access when we travle.

Im sure this device works very well IF, (and that is a very big "IF"), one lives in an area that has relatively few obstructions such as hills and buildings between your location and the nearest broadcast towers. THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT IN THEIR TV COMMERCIALS! I had high hopes for this device, having had my share of disappointments with indoor flat antennas that pulled in mostly shopping channels, a few free cable stations such as Ion and MeTV, and a few religious shill channels. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to receive more than 4 or 5 of these and, once again, none of the local network affiliates. Had to return it. I may give it another try in the future, assuming I'm living in a less obstructed area. For now, it's still going to be paid subscriptions to Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Frndly TV.

A relatively easy method for free OTA TV and DVR

Over-the-air TV and DVR may seem quaint these days. But with streaming providers raising prices and dropping channels, I wanted an easy (and free) method to record local TV. If you have a good-enough antenna and broadcast signal, the Tablo 4th Gen will serve you well. I connected the Tablo to my antenna and wired Ethernet line (it also works on WiFi), and was recording broadcast shows within minutes. The Tablo has built-in storage to make recording easy, though you can also attach an external drive for more space. Picture quality is dependent on your antenna’s signal strength, but the Tablo has a built-in signal amplifier to help boost your antenna range. For me, it seems to pull in all major local networks roughly 30 miles away. The Tablo TV app is very new, and a bit buggy. It can be slow to load at times. It has limited features, and the live TV guide is finicky at best. They don’t have an Apple TV app yet, but it’s supposedly coming soon. Note that this doesn’t work with older Tablo apps or devices. But they’re updating the new app frequently. The big thing for me is that there’s no subscription required. Recording is free. The live guide is free. Even if it’s buggy, it’s still free. In the end, free wins out.

Tablo user since 2020. Great way to cut the cord. Upgraded to the 4th generation Tablo because the guide service was free. Legacy Tablo charged a fee for 2 week program schedule. With the 4th generation the 2 week program guide is free, plus you get over 50 FAST channels integrated into the guide. Connect it to antenna and you can pause and DVR of the air networks. 4th generation connection to Tablo servers and guide have at times been a little glitchy causing connection problems and interrupted or missed recordings. This is one reason I keep my legacy Tablo (cancelled the subscription service) as a back up and record same programs as a back up. But over all performance and reliability make this an awesome money saving solution or the high price of cable. Highly recommend the Tablo for all TV watching. Connected to any streaming device you can watch TV and playback recordings on as many TV's as you like connected to your home network.

Longtime Tablo user. Love the Tablo Lite. We have a 4tb drive attached. So lots of room for recording. It has its issues, but with it we were able to keep the cord cut, and haven't missed cable TV at all. Used windows media player before that, but that was phased out, so Tablo was what we switched to for OTA recording. Rave about it to anyone interested in cutting the cord. Love it! Really wanted to like the Tablo 4th gen, but after using it for a couple of days went back to our Tablo Lite. There were features about the new Tablo that were intriguing. The new interface shows potential. The search feature on the main screen was nice. The fact that there was no fee for guide data was probably the main reason I bought the new Tablo. Wasn't really all that impressed with the inclusion of streaming channels. Tablo is a device for ota TV channels, that is accessed through other streaming devices. Adding streaming channels kind of cluttered up the device. It was nice that streaming channels could be recorded, but not sure how often I would do that. Use Roku and Fire TV, not sure I really need another streaming device. One of my main gripes was that, using a Roku, I couldn't get programs I wanted to record to actually reflect that they were scheduled. Would select a program to record, it would show that it was set to record (some of the time, often had to select record multiple times). I would leave the program, go back in and it didn't look like it was set to record. In testing it, in most cases it did record. Another gripe was that several images for shows didn't show up in the display. Just a black box, no descriptive text or anything, so I had to open the program to see what it was. Not sure what the deal was there and it was hit and miss with which images wouldn't appear. They last issue I had is that I attempted to install the new Tablo app on my Fire TV and it wasn't available. So that was it. Factory reset the Tablo 4 and returned it. Hopefully down the road, after a little more testing is done, I'll try it again. Sticking with my tried and true Tablo Lite for now.

Purchased 12/20/2023 and I'm completely happy with Tablo! Using iPhone to get everything connected worked ok (I had a minor issue connecting Tablo to my Wi-Fi but after going to there website had it working in 10min.) Thier App works perfectly with my Roku on 3 different TV's and love the Guide. People have complained about App loading slow, I've found it takes about 10 seconds and assume it's due to updating the FREE Guide! It will take you a about 15min to scan and set up and personalize your channels the way you want. Overall, I Highly Recommend this product. (Note: I didn't use their antenna. I connected to my existing one.)

This product was purchased to record over the air programming as we recently closed out DirecTV account and we were so used to recording programs and watching them later. The product works well but it freezes a bit at times. Different antennas have different signal strength and channel availability. So you may have to get a few different ones and change how you place them to see where you get the most channels and least pixelization.

If you already have an antenna running into your house, but have a room the antenna cable doesn’t go into. This device is for you, plug your antenna cables into Tablo and then use WiFi to connect to other TV’s in your house. Plus Tablo can Record your favorite shows. Awesome.

Had to move the main television in the greatroom to a spot away from the rooftop antenna outlet. Rabbit ears and flat antennas did not pick up all available channels. Pictures maybe not as sharp as with direct connection to antenna, but certainly not unwatchable, DVR function is a bonus. Makes it possible to watch broadcast TV on the outdoor tunerless projector thru a streaming stick. Perfect item if you have a rooftop antenna but your TV is in a place where connection to it is not possible or aesthetically pleasing.

We have owned previous models of the Tablo. Pretty much everything about the new iteration is superior to the old - loading speed, the guide (which is now free), channel selection, and so on. It's also easier to set up and has better connectivity.

When I bought my Tablo I was not able to get an email code to open my account. Customer service answered my call right away and I got the code. I was not getting audio on my live channels so I changed to adaptability mode in sound settings and it solved that problem. My Tablo is working well and recording programs. I found that you can't be logged into more than one device at a time or it will go crazy. Have to reboot it when that happens. The Tablo has a great menu with a mix of antenna and some streaming channels. You can search for and record shows up to two weeks in advance. I love the Tablo for the menu and for the recordings.

Works Great But Issues With Roku

I purchased a Tablo 4th Gen about a month ago. When using with my phone or an iPad, it works great, no complaints at all. The main reason I wanted the device, was so that I could watch local channels on our television. For our home, the most channel's signals are best received when the indoor antenna is in a back bedroom. I love how the Tablo allows us to place the device in the back room, and still watch in the living room. I have a Roku Express, which is considered an older unit by Tablo. The Tablo works perfect with the Roku if the channel's resolution is 1080. For channels that have a resolution of 480, or 720, there are issues. For these channels, I have a very large green screen, with the channel's content only showing in a very small portion of the screen in the upper left. I contacted Tablo, they told me they were aware of the issue but could not estimate a fix time. Since the main reason I purchased the Tablo was to watch on the Roku, I am disappointed. On another note, I've seen online ads that state Tablo is easy to set up. For me, it took 3 hours as I kept hitting points where the Tablo setup froze, even with high speed internet. On a more positive note, I do really like the guide, the fast forward feature for watching programs from the DVR, the streaming channels included, and other features. If they could just get the Roku green screen issue fixed I'd give it a 5 star.

Had the Tablo since December 5th and am still impressed with the quality recordings and ease of selecting programs for recording. Very easy set up using your mobile phone. Once the app is loaded you can select programs to be recorded in seconds. Thumbnails appear showing what you are recording. You have to use a streaming device like Firestick since the TV manufacturers do not yet have this app available for downloading direct to their sets. Only downside is you must watch Youtube videos to show you all the tricks to record and playback. Money well spent.

It workis perfectly. Very please with it. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the fact that the ap required to register the Tablo is horrible. Don't get me wrong, the Tablo works great. Attached itself to our home's wifi perfectly. The actual install was effortless. But you need to register the DVR to the company and that part took three hours! Their ap is pathetic. They suggest you use your smart phone as the remote. Grim. But, the good news? There's a Tablo ap on ROKU. That works almost perfectly. Much MUCH better than trying to use your smart phone as a remote. Because if you try that, which I did, you'll be a victim of one of the most convoluted, and bug filled aps I've ever encountered. Buy the Tablo, it will connect to your wifi almost automatically. Then spend a few hours trying to enter your email and password until that works and use your Roku and your set.
