Excellent way to distribute a single amplified antenna to multiple televisions. Recording capabilities are convenient. Occasional errors with missing/deleted recording even with live broadcast viewing.

Easy to use and set up than previous airtv2 with sling. The onboard dvr Recording is convenient. The tv guide could use a refresh but is easy to navigate. The dual screens works heat something the air tv claimed but never worked

This generally works well, and is fairly easy to set up and navigate. Only drawback is that the channel guide often does not work which prevents the recording of shows.

I purchased the Tablo - 4th gen, in hopes that it would transition us away from a very expensive satellite bill. all in all it is working very well, only problem that I am having is, I set the app up on my phone and followed all the steps and bypassed the antenna setup. now I am having problems trying to find where on the app to correct that error. so my advice is to take time setting up the Tablo and the app.

      Hello,

You should be able to simply plug in the coaxial cable and run a rescan.

If you're looking for where to position your antenna it should be easily searchable. TabloTV

    Tablo/Roku issues

We recently upgraded our legacy tablo with two new tablos, but tablo app doesn't work on Roku. It can't find the tablos on our networks. So I added firesticks to all our TVs, added to tablo app and all our Tablos are working on Firesticks. Still would like it to work on Roku. Overall, Tablos are great to record local stations over an antenna. Other than the Roku issue, I highly recommended Tablo.

Hook up was a snap, works well, recordings work as expected. Did not give the 5th star as the older models you could access outside of your home, but this model, while it is accessible by all systems in your home, you cannot access it when you are not on your home network. Disappointed as I was expecting to be able to access when we travle.

I like Tablo. I had a previous 4 tuner model. I sold it to buy this 2 tuner 4th Gen Model. This unit has some problems I am not happy with. I watch it with a Roku and sometimes after 3 to 20 minutes it just quits and goes back to the Roku Home Page. Tablo Tech Support said they are aware of the problem and Roku is working on fixing the issue. Sometimes it will just lock up and I have to shut it down and start all over. When I responded to one of their emails I stated that I thought the Tablo I have is defective and should be replaced. I have not received a response back and that is disappointing. When the Tablo 4th Gen is working properly it is a nice piece of equipment.

A relatively easy method for free OTA TV and DVR

Over-the-air TV and DVR may seem quaint these days. But with streaming providers raising prices and dropping channels, I wanted an easy (and free) method to record local TV. If you have a good-enough antenna and broadcast signal, the Tablo 4th Gen will serve you well. I connected the Tablo to my antenna and wired Ethernet line (it also works on WiFi), and was recording broadcast shows within minutes. The Tablo has built-in storage to make recording easy, though you can also attach an external drive for more space. Picture quality is dependent on your antenna’s signal strength, but the Tablo has a built-in signal amplifier to help boost your antenna range. For me, it seems to pull in all major local networks roughly 30 miles away. The Tablo TV app is very new, and a bit buggy. It can be slow to load at times. It has limited features, and the live TV guide is finicky at best. They don’t have an Apple TV app yet, but it’s supposedly coming soon. Note that this doesn’t work with older Tablo apps or devices. But they’re updating the new app frequently. The big thing for me is that there’s no subscription required. Recording is free. The live guide is free. Even if it’s buggy, it’s still free. In the end, free wins out.

Im sure this device works very well IF, (and that is a very big "IF"), one lives in an area that has relatively few obstructions such as hills and buildings between your location and the nearest broadcast towers. THEY DON'T TELL YOU THAT IN THEIR TV COMMERCIALS! I had high hopes for this device, having had my share of disappointments with indoor flat antennas that pulled in mostly shopping channels, a few free cable stations such as Ion and MeTV, and a few religious shill channels. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to receive more than 4 or 5 of these and, once again, none of the local network affiliates. Had to return it. I may give it another try in the future, assuming I'm living in a less obstructed area. For now, it's still going to be paid subscriptions to Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Frndly TV.

Records perfectly with a good antenna signal, the guide is solid and excellently detailed, and it has a fair amount of storage built in. Has had to be reset a couple of times and has a couple of other little quirks, but no major complaints. Biggest issue is probably that 480p broadcasts do not fill the screen when using the device on some televisions. Other than that, very pleased with the functionality, especially for the price (and lack of ongoing or even one-time fees).

I think this is probably a very good product but I have a scam protection app that I couldn’t get past. So if have that type of app I suggest that you check with that app before purchasing. I was very disappointed that the Tablo didn’t work for me.

Great concept and when I can get the app to work right, it is flawless streaming of live TV. The app needs some major improvement on Samsung TV and Fire TV platforms. On Samsung TV, it is slow as molasses. I have to remember to exit out of the app after I use it or it gets "hung" and I have to power cycle my TV. On Fire TV, it keeps disconnecting from my Tablo which is highly frustrating.

The setup was easy. Only downside is that it will not work with an older TV because the app isn’t compatible. To get it to work with an older TV you need a Roku.

I bought this Tablo because the Tablo I already had was having compete network and connection issues when using a Roku. I got this new one working after several attempts but just yesterday got the “Tablo can’t be found “ which I was able to fix and hope I don’t see again. I asked if there was an alternative to Tablo for using an HD antenna for local TV and was told Tablo is it.

A Smart, Easy Way to Cut the Cord and Keep Local C

I’ve been using the Tablo DVR for a few months now, and I’m really impressed. It’s a simple, effective solution for anyone looking to drop cable or avoid pricey streaming bundles like YouTube TV, while still keeping access to local channels and PBS. Setup was smooth. Just plug it in, follow the prompts, and you’re rolling. I did need to swap out my antenna to get better reception, but even with it barely mounted on the side of the house, it still works great. That’s more of a win for the antenna, but Tablo handled the signal cleanly. The software has a few quirks here and there, but nothing that breaks the experience. Even if it never got another update, I’d still be happy with how it runs today. The DVR functionality is solid. It’s easy to record shows, and the automation features like grabbing upcoming airings from the TV guide are super handy. Overall, this is a big upgrade from just using basic rabbit ears. If you’re looking for an affordable, reliable way to bring local channels into your streaming setup, Tablo nails it.

Purchased 12/20/2023 and I'm completely happy with Tablo! Using iPhone to get everything connected worked ok (I had a minor issue connecting Tablo to my Wi-Fi but after going to there website had it working in 10min.) Thier App works perfectly with my Roku on 3 different TV's and love the Guide. People have complained about App loading slow, I've found it takes about 10 seconds and assume it's due to updating the FREE Guide! It will take you a about 15min to scan and set up and personalize your channels the way you want. Overall, I Highly Recommend this product. (Note: I didn't use their antenna. I connected to my existing one.)

Longtime Tablo user. Love the Tablo Lite. We have a 4tb drive attached. So lots of room for recording. It has its issues, but with it we were able to keep the cord cut, and haven't missed cable TV at all. Used windows media player before that, but that was phased out, so Tablo was what we switched to for OTA recording. Rave about it to anyone interested in cutting the cord. Love it! Really wanted to like the Tablo 4th gen, but after using it for a couple of days went back to our Tablo Lite. There were features about the new Tablo that were intriguing. The new interface shows potential. The search feature on the main screen was nice. The fact that there was no fee for guide data was probably the main reason I bought the new Tablo. Wasn't really all that impressed with the inclusion of streaming channels. Tablo is a device for ota TV channels, that is accessed through other streaming devices. Adding streaming channels kind of cluttered up the device. It was nice that streaming channels could be recorded, but not sure how often I would do that. Use Roku and Fire TV, not sure I really need another streaming device. One of my main gripes was that, using a Roku, I couldn't get programs I wanted to record to actually reflect that they were scheduled. Would select a program to record, it would show that it was set to record (some of the time, often had to select record multiple times). I would leave the program, go back in and it didn't look like it was set to record. In testing it, in most cases it did record. Another gripe was that several images for shows didn't show up in the display. Just a black box, no descriptive text or anything, so I had to open the program to see what it was. Not sure what the deal was there and it was hit and miss with which images wouldn't appear. They last issue I had is that I attempted to install the new Tablo app on my Fire TV and it wasn't available. So that was it. Factory reset the Tablo 4 and returned it. Hopefully down the road, after a little more testing is done, I'll try it again. Sticking with my tried and true Tablo Lite for now.
