Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.After a few weeks, one fan quit. A couple weeks later, the last fan quit. There is no 'anti-skid' material on the surface, so the laptop slides all around when typing.

It was one of only three types of laptop coolers in the store.The other two, also made by Targus, were either too bulky, or inclined the laptop at an angle which made keyboard use difficult. The Laptop Chill Mat is powered by USB connection to two very weak muffin fans that do NOT move enough air to be effective. I use an Apple MacBook Pro laptop which is cooled by its aluminum case; this requires air movement over the bottom of the case for cooling. The Laptop Chill Mat has enough holes in the mat to let the air through, but the two fans don't move enough air.

The fans are comically bad. I would not trust this to help ventilate my laptop.

I was still using one I had for a year (different brand)and started using this one when the old one died. After about a month of use, the right fan quit working. Now after 4 months it quit altogether. I ordered it because of the reviews but am very disappointed in Targus.
