It does it's job but it easily moves positions when you try to adjust (slides out) and it is just a bit noisy (but bearable, if you're watching something loud anyways). Would not recommend if you need peace and quiet or are fairly mobile while using your laptop. Otherwise it's simple and does what it is supposed to do.

I also dislike how this item necessitates your having to sit at a desk or table while being used, as it’s not really practical for it to be used while sitting on the couch or your lap.

We hooked this up and the fans started turning right away. She has not said anymore about her laptop getting hot. it seems to work as advertised. And, the price is very reasonable.

However, about a month in, one of the blades on one of the two fans fell off and jammed up the fan. After clearing it, the fan worked for another 4 months before another two blades on the fans cracked and fell off. Now it's significantly louder and I'm contemplating just throwing it away and buying one that is more solidly constructed.
