Cord too short, won't plug in to USB port

The USB power cable from this product is too short to reach any of my laptop's USB ports, too short by about 2 inches. There's no way for me to plug this in, and without power, the fans don't run. It's pretty much useless to me.

I tried this one and it just didn't blow any air. I still had to use a fan if I didn't want my laptop to overheat. I went to frys and found one by thermaltake. That one works great.
