I like this cooling pad because it makes a stable surface for the computer to rest properly on and its not uncomfortable at all to use on my lap. When I used to play graphics intensive games on my computer like GTA4 before buying this pad the computers internal fan was almost constantly running. Now, when I play the game with the dual fan chill mat plugged into my computers USB port it has reduced the internal fans running by about 50% because it helps keep the laptop much cooler. The pad also has four rubber squares and a lower lip to effectively help keep my computer from sliding. The adjustable rear height is helpful as well so you can have the keyboard at the desired angle. Its also a very tough construction, I harry my laptop everywhere with me and it bounces around in my truck and I've never had any plastic break I did have one of the hinges pop out but it easily snapped back into place without breaking. The only downside is that I had to get a larger laptop bag to comfortably fit this pad inside because the bag i had before barely had room for a mouse and the power cable but buying a bag that small in the first place was my fault.

I have a Dell laptop (not alienware) that i use for gaming. i KNOW i should have a tower but i don't. my problem was that any games run through origin or steam would cause my cpu to overheat and slow down within 20 minutes. i could push my luck to 40 minutes but then the laptop would shut down. after buying this cooling station, i can easily game for 3-4 hours before the laptop even feels warm to the touch. i love it. the only problem is that it's a little too short (my laptop is one of those with the full size keyboard/number pad on the side) so i just stick the fans under the part of the laptop that tends to get hotter quicker.

I like the fact that you can Plug this unit into the wall and not draw from the power on the laptop. I have not had it long, but for the time that I have, it seems to work good. The Fans make it a little louder, but I suppose it is to be expected. Still not bad though. The only disappointment so far is that it doesn't come with a wall adapter, you have to buy it separately if you want to be able to do that. Powering from the Laptop still works fine though and have had no real issues with it. I think that this is a wise purchase and will help to keep your laptop from overheating.

I have a 15.6" Latop but I got the Targus 17" cooling mat over several others based on it's design. It's adjustable and there is a space so the two fans can really circulate air and cool the bottom of the Laptop. It's very quiet and efficient and it will prolong the life of the laptop. I can also get it into the front flap of my computer case. Great for business, trips, gamming and general everyday use.

keeps my laptop cool. and it also keeps my laptop at a good angle, so i do not strain my wrists. i am very happy.

My lap stays cool now and the mat is comfortable. The fans are quiet.

(I've been using this for two weeks): Firstly, I want to say how well this chill mat works with my 15" MacBook Pro. When I'm just browsing the laptop and chill mat sit comfortably on my lap, allowing air to properly flow through the bottom. Mats really do help out with the lifespan of your laptop, ESPECIALLY if you frequently place them on your bed. I don't actually use the two fans unless I'm playing a game or streaming HD videos, as that's when my computer starts to get REALLY hot and needs some extra help to keep cool. The cooling power of the pad works so well that on the lesser demanding games (Hearthstone), the laptop's own fans don't kick it to the highest gear anymore. They also don't add very much noise for two fans. I'd recommend this 17" mat for those with 15.6" laptops too. The other, smaller, mat feels a bit too small, but I feel this one perfectly fits. It isn't to say that it's too small for bigger laptops, but just that this one works great for 15" too. A few notes about "what's not so great." One thing I've noticed is that one of the bottom "feet" grips on the bottom are starting to peel off just a little bit. Doesn't affect performance in any way, but having to super glue the grips on the bottom after just TWO weeks? C'mon! Overall, for the current sale price of $19.99, it's totally worth it to keep your computer from overheating, and even increasing it's life span!

I use a high end 17" laptop for editing images when I travel. With a large hard disk and strong graphics processor it runs hot. Not a comfort issue the machine will overheat and shutdown. This worked well for me because it would fit in my laptop bag and didn't add much weight. It did keep the machine going though it still got very hot. Notice the past tense? ;) The power cord wore through and the fans stopped. I noticed this when the screen started to go black during editing when the graphics processor overheated. I took this apart to see if I could get it working long enough to complete my session. Just needed to splice the wires so the fans worked. No way are you going to take this apart without destroying it. I'm looking for another.

Keeps laptop nice & cool, which in turn seems to prolong battery life between charges. Mat also holds laptop securely so that it doesn't slide around.

Laptops have come along way but overheating is still an issue. This cooling device works as advertised and really pumps out the cool air. Heat and dust destroy electronics quicker than most people realize. Do yourself and your laptop a favor, pick one of these app and you will never regret it.

I have a 17" laptop that I had to replace the cooling fan on a few mo ago. It was a relatively costly repair. So this is a necessary investment to protect my laptop and I recommend anyone that has a laptop to have one. I do wish it were a couple inches longer, but overall I am happy with it. The tilt is perfect. Despite some other reviews negative statements about it being noisy. My experience is the fan is extremely quiet....I can't even hear it. It's so quiet, I had to make sure it was working.

My laptop was overheating and shutting down in less than 10 minutes; since I'm using this cooling mat my laptop will be working for hours and never turned off by itself again. I'm using the Targus Chill Mat for over 6 months now and it just works with no problems.

Makes a difference if laptop is held in your lap for extended period of time..

I overheated my laptop and bought this to keep the thing running until I could replace it. It worked great as a Band-Aid fan for my poor old computer. My only problem was keeping my big 17" machine on this little cooler, I don't think it will even be big enough for my new 15.5" widescreen. I would have bought a larger one like this if there was one. My husband bought the dual fan model at the same time, he likes it also, but it was a bit heavier than I was looking for.

All in all, I'm glad I got it. My machine runs much cooler now.

Not a lot to say here. It does what it is designed to do and does it very quietly. Sharp looking and sturdy yet light weight. Fits in my computer pack even for when I hit the road.
