    My wife and I both have MacBooks and struggle with the two USB ports being so close together (some devices we use have larger USB plugs than the standard plug). So, I purchased each of us a hub and it has made a world of difference when using USB devices. Can actually have more than one device hooked up now since my wireless mouse takes one port constantly.
