From minute one of the movie, I was fully immersed. Not once did Travis prove himself to be unlikable; he proved from minute one that he can be quite amicable. I recommend anyone who likes movies to see this; it'll make you feel the way Travis feels.

HE'S NOT ACTING....THIS IS De NIRO AT HIS FINEST

Robert DeNiro has been a perplexing study as an "actor". He is at his finest when playing himself. And boy, does he play himself as Travis Bickel an ill-mannered, un-educated, un-sophisticated, un-classy guy in Martin Scorcese's "Taxi Driver". His talent dims when taking on well-mannered, educated, sophisticated, classy character roles as he comes across as, well....Robert DeNiro playing Robert DeNiro as a well-mannered, educated, sophisticated, classy character. He comes closest to being an "actor" in his role as the intern in "The Intern". A role in which he looks like he is "acting" because he only appears to be a well-mannered, educated, sophisticated, classy guy....almost! His best was and still is "Taxi Driver" where DeNiro plays DeNiro, unchanged by.... "acting" a role.

This is a gritty film about cab drivers in New York city , And Robert De Niro is a young cab driver who goes on a rampage from all his disgust of city life. When Robert De Niro was young he had many of his better films and roles , and Taxi Driver is at the top of the list, The Deer Hunter, Cape Fear and other films . A very young Jodie Foster and De niro are the main characters of the story, and life in the big city. You really get the feel what it is like in New York city with all the crime ,cars and noise and how the people live. Great Classic film .

Taxi Driver (1976) is one fine film by acclaimed director Martin Scorsese. The cast of this film was relatively early in their careers and on top of their game, especially Jodie Foster in her role as a troubled teen. This bluray will keep you entertained, with some nice special features. The picture and sound quality are first-rate for a film that's over 40 years old, so the cleanup job was a successful one.

I saw this when it came out in the theatres and always wanted to add to my collection. Had the vhs and we all know what good they are now, so when I saw this on sale and Blu-ray it was a no brainer. picture quality is good for a movie this old. must have had a couple stutters in the master though but all in all good old movie that helped start DiNero's career, now hoping to find the Deer Hunter also

Is one extra worth a double dip?

Actually, in this instance I think it is; the 40th Anniversary edition of Taxi Driver not only includes everything on the old release, it adds a Q&A with Scorsese and most of the main cast which is in itself worth picking up, considering the low price of the set. Splitting the extras over two discs was also a nice touch, giving the movie a little more space on disc one.

I bought this for one of my Film classes. I did not expect to like but I found a few aspects to enjoy. The lighting and sound in Taxi Driver is superb. The story is also a reminder of what some veterans struggle with after coming back from war. The film was great overall but the pacing feels so sow compared to modern films.

Robert De Niro, Josie Foster, Cybil Shepard and Harvey Kietel. Peter Boyle( the grandpa from Everybody Lives Raymond) is in here too. Bleak, grim, gritty look at lonliness in 70s NYC. 40th Anniversary Edition is loaded with special features including a brand new Q&A with all three stars!

It's not just the 4 Academy Award nominations. It's not just De Niro's too real performance. It's not Jodie Foster's disturbing role, shattering forever her Partridge Family innocence. It's just... I had to get this. Truly difficult movie to watch. You won't be cheated on quality.

It was nice to watch to watch a movie I have not seen since it was released back in the seventies. To watch a young twenty something Robert De Niro, A mid teen Jodie Foster, and a young Harvey Keitel and Sybil Shepherd. Loved watching the scene where Di Niro sports a Mohawk.

A great Blu-ray transfer of Martin Scorsese's classic film. Robert DeNiro is great as usual in another one of his career defining roles and a young Jodie Foster gives a preview of what would become her illustrious career.

The PQ on this 40yr old film that was mastered in 4K is very obvious and appealing to watch. The pace of the movie was rather slow for my taste. Robert de Niro is excellent though.
