    Great TV

I bought instead of 5 year old Vizio E280i-B1 which worked very slowly. At first we were skeptical about this TV. But the TV exceeded our expectations - it turns on in a couple of seconds and in generaly works very fast without any delays, the connection through Wi-fi keeps excellent . We literally enjoy this TV. We only regret that we did not buy it before.

Very nice TV at a reasonable price. All ROKU remotes are pain but that is ROKU's fault not TCL.

Not good unless viewing dead center

The picture is pretty good if you sit dead-on center. Move out 5-10 degrees, and the picture washes out badly. Having purchased a Sharp Roku TV from Best Buy in 2019 (Sharp was 40", cost about $70 more), the TCL stinks in comparison. With the Sharp, the picture looked great even when viewing off-center (5-10 degrees). I do NOT recommend this TCL TV.

Remote control is a hassle to use. I hold it with my right hand and then changing channels with my index finger my middle finger is holding the sides where the volume and mute button is i keep pushing those side bottoms by mistake while changing the channels. What a poor messed up product.

      Hi Aimar,

In addition to the remote that comes with your TV, you can download the free Roku app on your Smartphone or tablet to use as a remote. Through the Roku mobile app, you gain access to power toggle, volume toggle, private listening, voice search, and more. Hope this helps!

Only if you are already a Roku die hard fan!

I would suggest this product if you are a die hard fan already!!! Sadly Roku doesn't do this TV any justice. I have to say misses on the product are the annoying remote, I would never buy a television set again that doesn't have a remote without number pad in it! the remote is geared for Roku at best. Secondly the notification light in the middle of the TV is annoying if the WIFI isn't connected... I plan to tape it off or paint it black. Mostly if I hadn't have to depend on a ride I would have returned the TV the next day. Save the money get a smart TV 1080P or greater and leave the Roku to a stand alone box. Your best bet trust me.

      Hi Handy,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. The standby LED can actually be turned off by going to Home>Settings>System>Power>Standby LED>OFF. However, if your TV is not connected to the Internet, the light with blink indicating that it cannot find an Internet connection. You can elect to use the TV as a strictly traditional TV by electing not to connect to the Internet at startup. This will allow the TV to have no blinking light when not connected to the Internet. Hope this helps!

This TV is not compatible with any streaming device. Locks up, wont go forward or back up. Nothing but one problem after another. I would never recommend this product to anyone. The remote for the tv do not work…and yes it has new batteries.

It is a good choice if you don't need to connect other devices. Fortunately, with Roku built-in, this will satisfy many people and provide a good value for the price. Unfortunately, it has some serious, deal-breaking limitations with connected devices. It was not possible to put the display in 4:3 mode when playing DVDs, so some of my movies and TV shows are unpleasantly stretched. The HDMI-CEC support is absolutely minimal, only supporting input switching and turning off devices. It will not turn on devices when switching inputs, and the media controls on the TCL Roku remote will not control attached devices, so you need to juggle remotes. (If you only have one connected device, like a set-top box or Google TV, you can control the TV with that and ditch the TV remote and Roku interface.)

      Hi Witstorm,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. This TV features a "Picture size" setting in the Options menu that allows you to toggle between different options like auto, zoom, normal, etc. Additionally, the TV remote is not designed to control external devices. However, our TVs are compatible with most Universal and cable remotes. Many Universal and cable box remotes can be programmed to control select features on the TV. You can visit https://support.tcl.com/us-remote-codes for more information. If you do not see your specific remote, you would need to contact the remote's manufacturer to obtain the remote code from them. Hope this helps!

First one was great, this one not so much

Beware of the Roku device failure. Best Buy wouldn't help, TCL says it's a software problem, you get a TV that only works with no internet services. I bought this for my daughters apartment at xmas. We loved the first one I use in the garage. She picked it up, set it up, it was fine. On day 2 it lost wifi when she powered it on. After a few hours of trying to fix it, she gave up and unplugged it. The next day, on a whim, she plugged it in and it worked. Fixed! Or not. The next day, back to the same thing. The problem is the Roku MAC address shows as 00:00:00:00:00:00 which means you can't even manually enter wifi details and connect. It's a Roku problem, but inside the TV you just bought for the Roku capability. Because she's a college student, diagnosing a TV took a back seat to other responsibilities, so when she finally contacted Best Buy they told her the return window had lapsed. She now has a big black clothes dryer in her room. On the rare occasion she wants to use it, she can connect an HDMI cable to it from her laptop, but that wasn't the plan. I'm bummed because I recommended it. I'm mad because Best Buy didn't seem to care. TCL has tried to be helpful, but I can't see a positive outcome (it was manufactured in Sept 2021, purchased in Jan 2022) since it's likely outside any of their warranty window. Maybe add an extended warranty? Would that help? If not for this issue, it'd be a great value and a good TV. The one in my garage, that was $50 more at the time, is still working fine. Roll your own dice.

    Small issues add up.

I had to return the first one of these that I bought due to a damaged display screen. The packaging seemed ok but it was not enough to protect the TV. The second of these that I bought turned out to not have an ethernet connection. My fault-I assumed it would have one. But why was it lacking? I also would (probably) quibble about only average sound from the speakers. The 1080 resolution was perhaps too much for me, or I had the TV too close. But I replaced this YV with a 32 inch Toshiba with 720 resolution-it looks much better. And the colors seem more natural on the Toshiba. I suggest buyers shop around, despite the high ratings.
