I purchased this yesterday, and I was pretty excited for my new purchase! At first, it had a good picture, good sound, and great features, but as I was watching, I noticed a lighter spot in the backlight right in the middle of the screen. It is most visible when the screen is black, but it is sometimes visible in a dark room while the screen is darker. (See picture) I will be returning to purchase an Insignia TV.

I've had this tv for just over a year and the screen has completely messed up. It has fine horizontal lines that make it dizzying to read anything on the screen and horizontal lines that move across the screen and white out part of the picture. Warranty is only for a year, so I'm out a tv.

My wife and I must be the last people in town to have gotten rid of our ancient CRT television. This brand and model of TV appealed to me from the get-go due to its having Roku built in and due to the ease-of-use of the Roku remote device. Enough already with remotes designed by sadists, the kinds of devices that require multiple degrees in engineering to operate and superhuman vision to "read". The TCL Roku set lives up to the promise of being simple to operate. It booted up right away and worked fine out of the box. We had no problems connecting it to the home network via wifi. The whole setup process took no more than about 10 minutes. One demerit (which is why it gets one star less than "awesome"): TCL or Roku or both have fallen on their faces documentation-wise. The documentation that comes with the set is skimpy. The remote is simple, yes, but there are a few tips and tricks about using it that should be noted in the paperwork that comes with the TV. You learn these things by accident or by running across them during web searches. That shouldn't be necessary. Case in point: Can you watch YouTube on this thing? It doesn't have a web browser, right? Nobody at the store seemed to know. But you can. You go to the Roku channels store and install the YouTube app. Simple. (The pre-installed "YouTube TV" app is for a paid movie subscription, not for regular everyday YouTube videos.) Maybe the image quality doesn't compare favorably to TVs costing more, but for our purposes it's just fine. In the store, the color looked more natural than what I saw on several display models of other brands (like Samsung). The viewing angle is limited—if you get more than a few degrees "off-axis" you begin noticing a loss of color saturation. But I knew that would be a minor issue when I bought the set. There's always a price-versus-quality tradeoff w.r.t. the panel. Sound: certainly better than our old CRT set. Many broadcasts enable you to select various Roku sound settings, including a "treble boost" setting that's good for someone with a bit of hearing loss. (Can't make those changes with all streams or broadcasts, though.) Pros: lightweight, good picture, acceptable sound output, easy to set up and use, reasonable price Cons: should be supplied with better documentation — otherwise, no major complaints

OK, where to start... this replaced our bedroom set, and old Insignia 720P 32" "dumb" LCD TV. The good: The built in Roku means one remote and it works great, and the Wifi is solid. Native Roku also means no input issue having to switch to HDMI-1 The picture looks great with 1080P content and the sound is good too. The bad: My biggest beef with this set is the off-center viewing angle ability of this set is really bad. Picture is great if you are directly in front of the screen, or slightly off center, but if you are more than 20 degrees off center, the picture starts to lose contrast and look worse. I don't like the trend to the new type stands with legs on the ends instead of a center pedestal, because if one leg/foot support goes over the edge, the set will fall. The remote sensor must be near the bottom right of the set, and it is line of sight, so you have to be conscious of where you point the remote, which is a bit of a pain, especially if you recess the TV into an armoire and are at an angle. IR remotes should be a thing of the past. The last thing I'm going to complain about is the Remote. Yes, I like the unified simple Roku remote and not needing 2 remotes for the Roku and the TV, BUT, they could have made the remote more substantial. It's very small, very light and very thin. Even my tiny wife finds the Remote frail and hopes it will last.

Bought this to upgrade a 12 year old Sony Bravia used in a kitchen setting, wall mounted. The old 26" Sony seems to weigh at least 50% more than this larger 32" unit, this made mounting somewhat easier with the TCL. Also, the physical size of the newer TCL tv is barely more than the old Sony, which is also nice. Picture quality on this is noticeably better, but the old Sony was only 720p. The Sony had a Roku Streaming Stick on it, and a few things to note... - the performance of the Streaming Stick was slower to load initially, but more responsive once loaded. This could be partially because of the remote, notably - the quality of the remote with the Streaming Stick was better, more solid, but lacked a mute button. The TCL remote feels lighter and cheaper. - Sometimes the video and audio get out of sync on the TCL, this almost never happened with the Streaming Stick. Only had this for several days now, but the out of sync events do seem to be getting less the more the TCL is used. Also, did only really notice this when replaying and fast-forwarding from the DVR via the xfinity app. The TCL is currently connected via 5Ghz, the old Streaming Stick only supported 2.4Ghz, so the TCL should (in theory) have better bandwidth, so not sure why this would happen with the TCL but not the SS. The previous are minor annoyances, not enough to want to return the TCL, over-all it is still an upgrade over the old Sony. If this were in a more watching intensive location, like the living room, I might change my mind about that, though.

This is a great smaller TV that is just the right size for our den. The picture is stunning, and it was easy to hook it up to our cable box and DVD player. Of course, the ROKU features are champ, great streaming with the widest choice of sources (love Britbox, Acorn, Great Courses, as well as more usual Netflix, Amazon, et al.) Lightweight, and, of course, inexpensive. Good buy.

Smart TV with most commonly used APS, 1080P, good picture. I'm using it at work for a second monitor and switch to Smart TV during lunch to watch Netflix. Nice light weight TV, the remote is a little small and simple to use, not many features but you really don't need them. A basic TV with smart functions. Price was right, been using it about a month now. How long will it last?
