Perfect for the Bedroom!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Today is Day 8 of my new TCL Roku 32, so far I love it! it came right up the minute I plugged it in, logged into my WIFI network and then set up all of my Roku Apps I have in my living room. 720 vs 1080, I feel 720 is perfect, no need to spend that extra $20, I just watch TV in bed, and the volume is fine, it's very fast too with the remote, I walked in to my local Best Buy and was out in 10 minutes, very satisfied, but still bought a warranty just in case!

Dumbest smart TV ever

The good: good customer service (but; the answer is always no, you cannot) as a simple TV works fine. Built in ROKU, somewhat different remote (no voice, no headphone connect, no micro-chip support, but has mute button) Several connection options (that generally don't work as a rational person would expect / demand) There is a headphone jack (which is unaccessible) The bad: Audio output. If you want to listen on a headphone, you need to pull the TV out of whereever it is to plug in the headphone. This automagically disconnects the speakers. You cannot get the speakers back without physically unplugging headphone (or bluetooth adapter) this is true for headphone jack, optical and HDMI Arc. Since my TV is in a cabinet, the plug cannot be reached. Thus it's either a headphone or speaker set. (true also for external sound bar or external amplifier) Claims that works on 2.4 GHZ & 5 GHZ, but 5 GHZ does not work (customer service claims router must be within 10 ft for 5 ghz to work - I doubt that as my other roku can detect 5 ghz across the planet almost) Customer service claims that this is true for all TCL roku TV's no matter what series. This set goes back. I've killed too much time trying to make obvious things work, as well as talking to customer service.

audio settings don’t work anymore
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.i bought this TV in april and my mom bought a slightly bigger one soon after. less than a month of having them they both starting experiencing audio issues. there are several volume modes to choose from and my mom and i both found “night” to be the best. it makes dialogue loud enough and action scenes quiet enough to enjoy listening without worrying about our neighbors. sadly, we’ve been experiencing issues on both tvs where both “night” and “leveling” completely cut off audio. no sound at all. every now and then there will be audio in these modes, but it is extremely scratchy and uneven. on my mothers larger tv, everytime we rewind we have to cycle through the volume modes to get the audio to restore. everytime. my mom rewinds a lot. i find this to be unacceptable for a tv of this price. it’s extremely irritating as none of the volume modes actually work, which makes it difficult to hear everything happening. volume mode has to be off in order to hear anything. i paid for both of these tvs and they both have identical problems. i haven’t experienced any other problems but this one was enough to make me write a review, which i rarely do. i don’t regret my purchase necessarily, if this was fixed the tv would be perfect. i’m rating it as average because it does everything expected but the audio problems are unacceptable.

Roku is controlling content now.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my TCL Roku TV after first buying a Roku Ultra (and cutting the cord from a terrible cable company) three years ago, and until recently I have gladly recommended Roku devices to others. I have even purchased a Roku stick for traveling. I recommended Roku because this is a hardware device that allows me to stream the content that I want, when I want. Or, rather, it used to be. Roku is apparently desiring to become a content gatekeeper now, the way cable companies have been. Recently, HBO started a streaming service called HBO Max, which gives subscribers access to all regular HBO "cable" content, plus an expansive library of movies and series not carried through the HBO network TV channels. Accessing this expanded library of content requires the HBO Max app, which Roku is refusing to carry in its app store. Therefore, I cannot watch the streaming catalog offerings of HBO Max on any of my Roku devices. Other content-related issues have frustrated many Roku users lately. It seems that Roku is no longer a hardware manufacturer, but instead has become the content gatekeeper that pushed streamers into cutting the cord from cable to begin with. I can no longer recommend the Roku brand, the same way I would not recommend a brand of laptop computer if the manufacturer blocked users from installing certain software.

Roku is a streaming platform that offers many features, including thousands of streaming channels (apps) and over 500,000 movies and TV episodes. Some content is free while other content is subscription based or pay-per-view. You can go to www.Roku.com/whats-on to see what streaming channels and apps are offered through the Roku Channel Store. To search for a specific channel you would simply want to enter that information into the search section. Hope this helps!
