Bought this TCL 40” Android Smart TV for a bedroom. I purchased this model to get the HBO Max app, at the time other Smart TV unable to add that app. It’s lightweight so I was able to hang it on the wall by myself.

This is a great TV for the price. It was so quick and easy to set up compared to an older TCL TV that I have. Just plug it in, connect to the internet, and follow the few prompts which are not complicated, and watch TV.

Overall Great buy for price
Pros
-40inch-1080@$160
-Android TV
-Chromecast built in
Cons
-Volume-if connecting soundbar you have to turn down volume and use soundboard remote, volume still comes out of the TV if volume on tv is not turned down.Even after changing audio setting to pass through only.
-internet-only picks up 2g signal
-Apps- doesn’t have all apps available on G.Play..example spectrum tv
-Speed - Slow when switching between apps (for my liking)
-Inputs - only 2 hdmi Inputs
With all that said, I like the tv and will keep it. I’m sure I can get rid of all the CONS if I went out and spent $500 on a tv. As an office TV and occasional gaming will do fine. However, I think some cons could be fixed with a simple software update.
You get what you pay for!

This TV is a great value with very useful functions for us.
We dont watch sports. We only stream. This is not our main TV, therefore the picture quality was not our first priority for this TV.
The Android TV interface is perfect for us: Its almost like having a large screen tablet on the wall with a very casual and simple remote interface.
Pros:
Has all the streaming services I want (YouTube, Netflix, HBO, AMZN, Spotify, etc)
Loads more content via the app store (games, fireplace, art)
Bluetooth compatible with my cheap wireless earbuds
Gamepad compatible (xbox, steam)
Remote control and GUI is simple and voice activated
Extremely light weight
Cons:
Image quality is commensurate to the price, (but worth every penny)
No built-in scheduled-power-off feature

Amazing TV for a very inexpensive price. Love the intuitive controls and home screen. Runs android tv which in my opinion is the best OS for TVs. Picture quality is what you'd expect. Good but not great.

Works great! Nice TV. I didn’t want to spend too much because this is for an extra bedroom. However, it’s nicer than I expected it to be. I would purchase it for my room as well. Easy to work. Quick set up. Great looking.

Have had no issues with this TV. Very intuitive, easy to use, great picture. Better experience than just adding a Chromecast to your TV. Have a couple of older TVs that I will be replacing with larger TCL models.

I purchased this as a Christmas present for my sister. She wanted a TV that was exactly 40" and there aren't a ton of options these days at that size. Knowing that this was a lower-end series of a bargain brand I was surprised on setup at both the quality of the picture and the Android interface. At first the picture looked a bit washed out but a quick settings adjustment brought in rich colors and deep blacks. Setup of the smart TV apps in Android was snappy, although not quite as smooth as on my Sony TV or Nvidia Shield. Overall the TCL exceeded my expectations for a TV at this price point. Most importantly my sister seemed happy with this as an upgrade over her aging Samsung 32".

This isn't some crazy good TV that gives you all the newest features but, this is a good secondary TV with good picture and solid Android performance.
We put one of these in each of our boys rooms and we can easily cast any usable service to them with no issues. The parental controls built into them are wonderful, you can basically lock down a restricted profile with access only to the apps/services you approve.

The color, clarity and features of this TCL TV make it a great value. We needed to replace a tv in a second living area so it’s not our primary tv. For the price this was a great choice. Easy to use

I have purchased a bunch of TCL Roku TVs (4 and 6-series) and they're a fantastic value. I recently purchased this 40" 3-series Android TV for our indoor/outdoor pool bar. The Android TV seems very sluggish. It's slow to boot, slow to load apps. For comparison, loading YouTube TV on a 4-series Roku is nice and smooth. I was frustrated waiting and waiting for it to load on this Android TV.
I was also anxious to try out the Google Assistant, but even that was way too slow. The voice search on Roku is great for a TV and the gimmick of Google Assistant was hype, just get a cheap Google/Nest Mini for voice stuff.
The built-in Chromecast is a great value considering I don't really like the Roku streaming host and it does not support all devices/apps. Adding a Chromecast to spare HDMI port on a 4-series is just as good, and it switches inputs perfectly. Again, the built-in Chromecast was just hype. If you need Chromecast, get the dongle.
I returned the Android TV and will probably just wait for a sale on the 4-series with Roku.

Good value and quality for a 40 inch TV. Only complaint is the remote has no mute button! Android OS means it can sync with my phone so I don't have to enter user ID and password for every site.
