    Excellent TV for the bedroom

    This is a terrific 1080p TV for the bedroom. 4K is useless if your screen is under 60 inches and you plan to sit more than six feet away from it. It has very bright and detailed imagery with no light bleed on the sides of the screen, and no “soap opera” effect. The built-in Roku is snappy and easy to use, just like their stand-alone units. I also really appreciate that it has three HDMI inputs instead of just two, which is what most other manufacturers offer at this price range (looking at you, LG and Samsung). As someone who still watches over-the-air TV, I was hesitant to buy this TV at first since the remote does not have a number pad to key-in channels, but the channel guide is very slick and easy to navigate with just the directional pad. My favorite feature is the ability to pause and rewind over-the-air TV (which stand-alone Rokus cannot do). Just plug in a USB 2.0 memory stick (16GB or higher) and you can pause and rewind up to 90 minutes of the channel you are watching. You can’t save and record programs in advance like a full-fledged DVR, but for casual bedroom TV watching, this is a great feature. Early reviews of this TV said that it takes several seconds to “boot up” after powering it on, but thanks to updates that is no longer the case. Other people complained that the large LED stayed on all the time after powering down (which would be annoying), but you can now turn this off in the options. As for downsides, the built-in speakers are less than impressive (like most TVs in this price range), but it does have an optical output jack for adding a soundbar or bookshelf speakers. Also, viewing the screen from the side will result in a somewhat washed-out appearance. So I wouldn’t recommend this TV for a large living room, where people might be watching from the sides. But for a bedroom where you will be watching it straight-on all the time, it can’t be beat!

    Has minor glitches sometimes and disconnects from the internet very often. Freezes for a while and gets stuck in an app for a few minutes before closing that app out and goes back to the home page

    4 months old - no sound, remote doesn't work

    I loved this television... for four months. At four months and two weeks, the sound stopped working when switching to an app from television. A google search said that this is a common problem. The only way to reboot it is to unplug and plug in again (a challenge since it's wall mounted and plugged in behind it). Also, the remote barely works. Sigh,.

    The remote is horrible. The set up could be better. Picture is ok but if I could do it over I would pay more for a better known tv.

    This tv isn't for everyone! Because requires too many steps including make accounts on line..just I think should be more easy.

      Hi Shelby,

      This is definitely not normal as this TV typically produces a good 1080p picture. There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Remember that the Internet signal will effect the quality of streaming channels. Also, the signal strength of an antenna/cable box will also effect what you are seeing.

    I first tried 2 different 4K TV's, a Samsung and a Vizio, that cost about $350 and hated and returned both of them after playing around for 3 days trying to get a decent picture. I did upgrade my Netflix account to see what was so special about watching 4K, didn't really see much of a difference from watching those same shows in 1080p, and everything else looked terrible. Since there's still very little 4K programming I decided to just go with this 1080p and couldn't be happier. Great picture, great color, lots of ports and it's a Roku TV.

    Nice and compact,great picture and sound.on second day though it kept randomly shutting off but after system update it works fine. Sometimes the volume can be touchy but overall its good.hopefully it will last a while. Maybe it'll outlast my 38 year old sony

    Glows

    Price is right-$199 for almost a 50" tv is great. 1080p is ok for me as it's just to watch old shows. The issue I have is the tv has a faint glow coming from the screen when powered off. This is not from the LED status light-that is off-this is from the screen. It can only be seen in a dark room. When I unplug the tv it the glow goes away. I am trying not to let it bother me but I am sensitive to light. I have seen other review mention this as well-so it does affect more than this model.
