I have been looking at this TCL brand for over a year now and I am happy that i purchased it. The reps at Costco kept talking to me about it from before I purchased my Samsung last year in August for my living room. I was told Roku only worked with Time Warner but I got it here on the tv and they have my Spectrum app. I feel like my Apple TV is connected but it’s not, so now I have everything from my living room tv now on my bedroom tv. This 49” for $359 was a great deal too so I am totally satisfied with my purchase, thanks Best Buy!!

After returning my Sharp 50" 4k. "SEE OTHER REVIEW" I bought a TCL 49" 4k Roku on Jan. 29. Hook-up and configuration was easy. The picture looked great. The sound was OK but I did add a sound bar as most folks do. Got up the next morning and the TV was ON. Yelled (KIDDING) the wife "HAY, you left the TV on. The wife said "NO WAY". Next day the wife gets up and the TV is on. Wife Yelled (KIDDING) at me "HAY, you left the TV on. I said "NO WAY". Third morning the TV was on.. OK, there is a problem.. Next few days there were no problems. I contacted TCL and explained that the TV keeps turning "ON" and I would like a fix. TCL responded after a few days with a full page of instructions on how to solve the TV turning "OFF" issue. I responded back, "RE-READ MY EMAIL IT CLEARLY STATES THE TV TURNS ITSELF ON". After 3 days, no response from TCL. During this time the TV would randomly turn itself ON. On Feb. 22, 2018, the TV turned itself on 3 times that day. Clearly and electronic component was failing. I had only a few days left in my return window so after not hearing from TCL I returned the TV. Best Buy was VERY good about the return. I did buy another of the same TV . Hopefully this one is not possessed.. So far, the first morning and the TV is not on..

I highly recommend this TV. Family loves it and such a reasonable price you can get two or three. New and old content looks great. If you're looking for an entry level 4K HDR television. This might be the one.

    Incredible Value to Quality Ratio

I was looking for an entry level 4k TV mostly for my Xbox One X and some light movie / TV watching. The picture quality is amazing for the cost the 4k picture and HDR look astonishing especially in Far Cry 5. The interface on this panel is awesome as well, overall a great experience. I would honestly suggest going to a Best Buy that has one on display and seeing it for yourself in person in comparison to big name brands, I was a Vizio / LG guy before and I don't know that I will ever spend the extra for the name again when I can get the same (or better) quality in TCL. I will look for the new (soon to release) "P" series in 65" for my main living room display soon. Definitely give this display a look, you may very well be surprised like I was.

I was stuck between this and an LG 50 inch. After seeing this was only a little bit more I chose this even though I wasn’t sure about the brand. I’m in love with this TV the picture is great on it and it’s awesome to have the smart features. The sound is good in my opinion. I will for sure buy another one in the future from this brand.

I bought this TV around 7 months ago and it's been very good.I had a Samsung and it went bad after a few months. This TV is feature packed.I looked at a Vizio which did have a better picture but was more than $100 more in price and had less HDMI ports and only one high speed HDMI port while all these are the full HDMI spec.I also use this TV for gaming on my PC and can say that it does a great job.I'm very pleased with this TV.Use the Roku app on your phone and you can listen in private so you don't disturb others in the house.I just can't say enough good things about this TV especially given the price. In fact I'm so pleased with TCL as a company I just bought my daughter a 43" model.

1 day in having my brand new 49in TCL 4K TV and i'm in absolute LOVE with it! Great value TV compared to the other companies like LG, Samsong, Sony, and etc. I had to replace my other TV through Renters Insurance due to Lightning / Power Surge. I had a 50in 1080 Sharp TV and event tho the process was rough going thru insurance, I'm so happy this now happened because this TV is the bees knees!!! hahaha! I love the smart TV capabilities as well. I can easily navigate back and forth from Cable to Video Console, to MLB.TV app, as well as Netflix. If you are considering a new TV and don't want to buy an expensive brand for this size, I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend this TV. You can't beat the price.

I purchased this TV after buying a the 55 inch model for my mom. This TV is easy to use. My 75 year old mother is able to operate all the features. I have enjoyed having this tv as it is easy to use and allows me to download apps for content. If your looking for a TV and a streaming device this that all rolled into one.

The good: Decent colors Good amount of adjustments available for picture and sound Very easy interface No "Soap Opera" effect Sound is acceptable, which is quite a feat. (No, it's not movie sound, but for plain regular TV watching, you don't need a sound bar to keep your ears from hurting :) ) Great value for the $ The bad: As you would expect, the black levels are not as crisp and deep as on a higher end set. They are not bad, but if you are expecting super blacks with good detail in shadows, you might need to go up a model or two.

I wanted to wait a week to post up this review seeing as I've seen good and bad reviews on it. This TV looks amazing for its value. It's not as colorful as the 5, 6 or p series, however can't go wrong with the price. The setup is absolutely easy. It has access to many networks and live tv. I use it with my PS4 and the picture is really clean. Even when I stand on the side the picture is great. Don't expect to see extremely vivid motion picture 4K, I would save a bit more to afford that kind of tv. Nonetheless, it's an adequate entry-level TV with lots of features and quick setup. Keep in mind that you get what you pay for.

I recently got a Roku stick for another TV and wow - what a great unit, easy to use, superior design, cheap. So I bought 2. When looking to replace some TV's I saw TCL got great reviews for picture quality and value, plus they're Roku so I ordered this one. Very happy with the super easy setup, picture quality, and surprisingly, the audio. There's a "speech" preset which helps clarify dialog so much for my declining hearing I don't need subtitles! Awesome set for the $$.

Just finished watching NFL over the air and the picture looks great. I also inserted a 16gb flash drive and was able to pause it for 90 minutes to go on a run and then hit play and watch the game. That was not an advertised feature. Recorded TV looks the same as live.

I had an insignia 37” for maybe 6-7 years with no problem. I guess I obsess in buying tech stuff. Normally I would not buy a TCL. I am still skeptical. The company in the US is new and I’m not sure how well they can handle a repair if needed. At first I tried 43”. It was beautiful and a great size for bedroom. I sit about 10 feet sometimes 6 feet away. My blu Ray with apps doesn’t seem to work so I figured I can get Netflix amazon and try smart tv. Maybe cut the cable cord someday. I got 4K but I don’t think it matters much. It’s not like tv to HD which was a huge difference. SIZE - while not specific to tcl im just saying I went through a lot to decide on this or 43”. Honestly either one would be great. This 49” seemed insane at first but I got used to it. I bought the warranty where I hope I never have to use it. They come to me. I would feel more comfortable with a well-known brand even insignia. TCL uses inferior parts like anything cheaper but all TVs can break. Two things- you can turn off that annoying light at night under power management. ALSO, I set it up to default to cable so I only use the one remote for daily use. I do like the small Roku remote. I can adjust picture, color and sound, but sound is ok a bit muffled for me. I used the smart part a bit and it seems to work well. But 4k is just not here yet. I cannot seem to get the ROKU app remote to work on my phone. I have the tv for two months. That’s very little but I think reviewing a tv in the first weeks is way too soon. I HAD ONE MISHAP one day on a rainy night in LA it went out and when I turned it on it would power off. I unplugged the tv then plugged it back in. It worked, whew! Maybe it was a power issue I doubt it had to do with cable. Hopefully I do not have another problem! Ok otherwise I think the picture is beautiful and it works well. I bought an alternate stand since on the 49” the feet are about 38”inches apart. I intend to explore the smart features more but so far as long as it works it’s great. Sure, maybe a Samsung is richer colors or 4 k is better but the picture and features of this TCL work well. I may buy another remote as a backup. If you’re not paranoid like me about a newer company here in the US then it is a great deal and wait for a sale.

After getting a new OLED TV for my living room a couple of weeks ago, I decided to also upgrade my bedroom TV. After doing a lot of research I decided on the TCL 49S405. The TV has gotten very positive reviews. It is amazing how many setting adjustments this set has. The picture is as good as any other set I looked at and is half the price of any similarly featured set. This is truly a best buy.

I found this TV on deal of the day and bought 2 of them. the TV needs adjusting from the get go, I found a youtube video on adjusting brightness , color, contrast etc...and found another on avs forum, they were very close and used those settings, also, go in to hdmi setting and turn them on to 2.0 they are set on 1.4 . the TV now has amazing picture not quite as good as my 850 series sony but, darn close if you run a gaming system, blue ray player, 4k movie etc... each has to have setting adjusted for each type of TV viewing once all this is done you will be happy and I like the roku home screen too
