Not for over the air TV watchers

TV has good picture and internet interface. Sound is not good. Remote is simple because it has little function. Volume and mute are on the side of the remote where they are easily hit by mistake. My biggest complaint is that there is no guide function. The Samsung that I replaced had a guide button that brought up a guide similar to what cable offers but it was for your over the air stations. You always knew what was on and with the smaller number of stations you felt in control (not like 200 stations but you don't know what's on because it'd take to long to figure it out). This TV has no guide although the information is available on over the air TV, so you are now in the dark as to what is on. I didn't want another Samsung as my last two both stopped working quickly (no picture) but I liked the guide and now know not to buy a TV that doesn't have one. You'd think every TV would have this function as it is needed and would cost basically nothing to include but this TCL Roku TV doesn't offer one and for that reason I'd buy something else.

You’re in luck! With our latest update, starting in November and running through the end of the year, an electronic guide will be available for TV shows received over the Antenna (and many more cool features!) on your TCL Roku TV.

I suggest going on YouTube and watch all the rave of good reviews. For the money you spend you get a great 4k TV. My only gripe is only 4 hdmi inputs with one being 4k@30hz. The other is the one USB port is not 3.0. I still plan on buying another, the same model in the future.

We were looking for an affordable tv replacement for the one my toddler broke. The salesperson advised us that this 4 series would give us some issues when watching fast motion shows and movies. He also recommended we purchase a sound bar for around $100. We decided to give it a try anyways. The salesperson was right - the picture and sound quality were terrible. We hooked the tv up through our cable box and turned on a football game. The tv could not keep up with the motion. We tried many different settings and nothing helped. In addition the colors on the tv were not great. The sound was as terrible as the salesperson suggested. The remote is also frustrating because it only works if you point it directly at the right spot. We ended up returning this tv and purchased the Samsung nu7100 for $170 more (which would actually be about $70 more than the TCL plus a $100 sound bar).

      Hi Cindy,

We're sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your TV and that you were not able to see the same great picture quality a majority of our customers are seeing. There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access advanced picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, advanced picture settings, and more. We will continue to make improvements to ensure our customers the best experience possible. Best of luck and happy viewing!

      Thank you,

Great TV that does not handle Black well

I purchased the TV in December 2017 Pros Price $349.99 Seamless integration to Roku electronic remote Easy to cast from phone/ tablet to TV. Works with Google home Light weight Loud Cons Deep blacks are becoming more pixelated. It becomes distracting watching movies with dark scenes sometimes Occasionally would freeze and restart Occasionally apps save too much to RAM and the TV believes that it does not have space to launch a new app Like many flat screens, loud sound but quality and distinction is questionable

For the price, this is a great tv for someone that just wants 4k. However, after a few months, I started to get debanding scrolling down the screen. It is noticeable in dark scenes. Very annoying. The hdr is also very sub-par.

    Not Bad, But....

this tv isn't great but what could have been better was just a more balanced back light. it feels like they use the same back light power as their 43 inch so the corners are more dim than usual. its a good tv if you dont care about how much 4k you will be using but if you are planning on using this a your main 4k tv and will have it in the family room you would be better off going for a slightly higher priced tv. i returned this one and went with the Sharp. only 20 bucks more but its a better over all tv. TCL's are a bit too cheap for my taste. the screen material is a bit flimsy and lower quality so dont expect a super clear image even with 4k content. saw this tv being displayed next to an LG and you can tell the difference in the 2 companies. but if this tv is for your parents or your kids room then its a good buy for that type of use. I would recommend this tv to anyone wanting to spend less than 400 dollars on any 4k tv above 43 inches.

    Fix Audio Delay?

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I recently bought this, the TCL 49-Inch 4K Ultra HD Roku Smart LED TV (2017 Model), and the sound complaints are valid. I have trouble hearing audio, even for the small room I’m in. It’s muffled often enough that I’ve had to order speakers. But there is also an audio delay on a number of channels which is really annoying. I see others have complained about this. How do I fix it? It's unwatchable at times, delayed by several seconds or more, so that someone else’s conversation is coming out of the wrong mouth. Thank you.

Great TV for the money. The packaging was great, set up instructions were right on the money. The homescreen is easy to navigate, and the remote control very easy to use. When a high quality input is used the resolution really comes out.

For the Black Friday price of $200, this was a no brainer. It's a TV with ok image quality and a great interface. Some apps don't run well but I think that's on the app makers and not TCL.

Bought this tv online. it is living up to the 5-star reviews. The only thing I can see that this tv needs is a better-made stand. Took awhile to get use to the roku set up. Old time tv shows was a surprise!!

This is a great tv for the money. Roku tv is a plus. It is excellent for video gaming. Also, it has several features that can't find on more expensive brands (like live pause). You can pause live tv using an antenna. It will save up to 90 minutes on a flash drive, allowing you to go back and forward. However, if you had a higher quality tv before, you will get frustrated with the colors. This tv has no black, and that is a big inconvenient when watching dark scenes. For movie lovers, I wont recommend it. I really really wanted to like this tv...
