Buyer Beware

Worst experience

We don’t recomend this brand and it’s second TV broken we bought in Best Buy. With the first we called and never help us. Totally bad experience

The smart feature is easy to use and hooked up directly to my internet without contacting Comcast or any other provider. This give me access to Netflix, Amazon, Apple and whatever else you have for streaming services. No local service. As is typical with flat screens the speakers do not render good sound. I connected a Sonos sound bar to the TV. With the HDMI connection it hooked up flawlessly and now has excellent sound. I am extremely pleased with this unit.

My god, have any of you owned a TV before?

I own 3 other TCL sets, two 5 series 55" and a 6 series 65". I don't know if it's because this is a 4 series, or if it's the Google TV OS, or what, but this TV underperforms on every level. There's a weird bug where it dynamically and noticeably changes brightness and black levels when the scene gets lighter or darker... And that's with every conceivable dynamic setting turned off. In general, the brightness is horrible; you have to pump every brightness and gamma setting to get this thing to not look like a dark closet during dark scenes even in a dark room. And daylight scene? Washed out. Getting this thing bright enough to look okay destroys the contrast and any semblance of color realism. Sometimes, humans look like cartoons in bright scenes. Horrible. Id expect a bit less quality between series, but this is inexcusable. This makes me not want to buy TCL at all going forward.

2 screens died within 1 year

After 4 months that screen died... have had much better luck with TCL in the past but now I am out of warranty and I have a $500 paperweight... Buy with caution
