    This tv was great for the first year, but after that it received an update and started randomly turning itself on and off. I was able to reset the tv and it would work for a while but now it’s been 18 months since I purchased it and it only stays on for about 5 minutes before it shuts off. It will also randomly turn on by itself which is aggravating since it is in our bedroom. I contacted TCL and they said it is out of warranty and there is nothing they can do. The tv was not expensive but I do believe it should have lasted longer than 18 months.

    I was excited to try the new TCL 5 series, but was left disappointed. After numerous tries, I was forced to return the tv due to software issues.

    TV damaged in shipping

    For some reason, Best Buy shipped this TV to my house instead of to their store for pickup. The TV itself seemed fine after unpacking, but once it was plugged in, the right side of the screen had pixel lines like it was folded in half and unfolded. HOWEVER, I took the TV back to Best Buy, they took the return with no questions other than to pick out a new TV, the whole return process was easy and I left with a new TV that works and looks great.

    Returned TV due to audio problems

    I had to return this TV because it had audio problems with my Verizon FIOS cable box. Whenever on-demand video was paused, the TV would make loud buzzing and popping sounds. TCL tech support could not fix the problem. I was forced to return the TV. I am not sure if this a typical problem with this TV or I just got a bad one...but I decided not to go through the trouble of a replacement and I bought a Sharp Roku TV instead which works fine.

    Mine just died too. Just under 3 years old and not used very much. Screen is backlit if you look closely, sound works, but no pic. Would have been 5 stars if it was still useable. Looks like this kind of issue is very common with TCL, so I'm looking elsewhere for the next TV.

    Will Not Buy Again - Can Only Use ROKU Speakers

    Found out after its mounted that I cannot pair any other bluetooth speakers with to it but ROKUs. Really crappy business model and strands my existing bluetooth speaker investment. The Roku OS works well as expected but its not worth sacrificing the sound of the movie or music experience. Just a terrible design idea for them. Simply a very selfish and poor business decision by TCL and/or Roku.

If you are trying to connect a sound bar or speakers you can use the Optical port, or the HDMI ARC port. For Headphones, there is a Headphone jack on the back of the TV, or you can download the Free Roku app for private listening. Hope this helps!

    It brook down with in a couple weeks. Had the 43 first and it brook down so I upgraded to the 50. I exchanged and got an L.G.

    Don’t buy!

    Roku support is horrible, do yourself a favor and pick another operating system. TV won’t connect via Ethernet and drops WIFI after turning off. TCL and ROKU support are zero help- I have 4 other Roku devices that connect with no issues but they think this is an ISP issue. Google TCL Roku WiFi and judge for yourself. This is not a Best Buy problem, no issues with the store!

    No action smoothing option to turn off

    I hate the soap opera effect that comes with high refresh rate TVs. Most of them have an option to turn it off, but this model doesn't have the "action smoothing" option under advanced picture settings. The effect isn't that bad, but it is really infuriating for it not to have an option to remove it. I might have to return it and get something from a different company.

    Horrible and uncorrectable color problems

    This tv has the WORST color. No matter how much I try to adjust settings, it is absolutely horrible, kind of a disgusting bad contrast beige/green/pink horror show. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. I had a non 4K tv before that looked so much better, I wish I had just bought the same brand instead of listening to "the experts" that recommended this.

    Open box satisfactory = damaged and broken

    Not very happy with this purchase, I was told it was in great condition and has no problems. I picked it up and it was wrapped terribly in seran wrap and tape. Screen is damaged. Was this model tested before being placed in my vehicle?

    Poor TV

    Within 3 months of owning this TV it started to slow down drastically and the Hulu/Netflix app crashes about once a week. The ESPN app won’t even load anymore. Overall, just spend the extra $200 and get a Samsung. If you do get this TV then make sure to get the warranty.

    TV never worked

    Ordered this TV on line. It arrived in a timely manner but it didn't work (no picture at all). We called the tech support and they ran us through a series of steps but we never had anything but a black screen. Luckily Best Buy returned our money.
