TV Review.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super disappointed, I’ve only had this tv for around a month or two and this annoying red line has appeared on my display. I’ve taken good care of it. Shut it off when it’s not in use and Haven’t bumped it at all. The tv worked perfectly fine before that, honestly super happy with my purchase until now, seeing these annoying red lines scattering across the display is just upsetting. Overall this tv is good… for a month or two that is. If you enjoy red lines on your 600 dollar tv after a few months of owning it. This tv is perfect for you!

Not Good So Far
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having to have mine replaced. Got it delivered, unpacked it, screwed on the little pointy legs, and set it up. The only picture I can get is a bunch of random lines. Hoping I can add a happy update later.

Overall Great TV and service
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review of the service provided to me by the Best Buy team was quick and easy. As for the TV? It works perfectly fine, and the few updates from the software from Roku has made customization for picture quality super easy and useful. I do have a few gripes about the TV, that being; the HDR is not color accurate and the colors can be either washed, or too dark depending on what you’re using it for. If you’re turning it on for gaming, the colors are too dark and the image looks darkened. Not even lowering the gamma so that the image can be slightly brighter does it any justice as the picture comes out as dark and the colors are washed out. If it’s for watching films in a dark environment, great. But if you’re in an area that’s too bright, good luck trying to see the image. I have noticed a couple of dark spots on the top of the screen. The spots don’t make it unusable, and it is barely noticeable. However, it does irk me when i do notice it and i cant stop fixating on it. But that being said, the tv is still great for a 2021 model. Definitely recommend.

3 years going strong
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had this TV for 3 years so far with virtually no issues. Occasionally I have to restart it, but that’s expected for any electronics.

Great picture w/Roku
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When shopping for a replacement for my 8 year old Samsung, I reviewed a number of 50” sets. The selling point(s) on this TCL was the quality of the QLED picture along with built in Roku, at a reasonable cost. The color and the black is very good. The weak link though is the narrow viewing angle. Our set is positioned such where it doesn’t effect us. However if you plan on sitting off to the side to view, the color will be washed.

Stereo Audio jack accessibe from side is great.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very high quality picture. A major feature for us is that it has an easily accessible stereo earphone jack on the side of the TV, so we can plug in wired headphones or speakers easily. Many TV's do not have ANY stereo audio output and the ones that do have them in the back which is practically unreachable for daily use. When you plug in headphones or speakers to the jack, the built in speakers are muted. This stereo audio output allows one of us to watch TV without the sound bothering other people in the household. I can't imagine why manufacturers are cutting out these output jacks. I don' like to use wireless bluetooth headphones because of the bluetooth radiation. I like the ROKU system, but this jack was the main reason I chose this TV set over another brand. The roku system is very nicely integrated into the user operating system. User interface is well thought out and easy to remember, unlike other systems from other major manufacturers with tiny buttons and all the same size so its hard to differentiate it in the dark. We "love" the TV, as much as you can apply that term to a machine you use.

Phenomenal hardware, annoying software
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The panel is absolutely incredible for the price. These are some of the greatest black-levels I have seen on an LCD (and don't be fooled by marketing, this is an LCD). I have only two issues. The included software leaves a lot to be desired. The menus are not responsive, Apps are slow and tend to lose connection. The remote feels cheap, but then again you can just use your phone as one instead. My bigger gripe, however, is that if I turn on my TV after having shut it down while using an external device, such as my Xbox, I should not have to scroll through the menu to select that device. When it turns on, it should switch automatically to that input device. This coupled with the unresponsive software means that it takes 30 or so seconds to get back on my devices after turning the TV on, and while that may seem trivial, small inconveniences rack up over time and make me less likely to want to use it. This all being said, the panel quality and feature set here is unbeatable for the price and worth the trade offs. I would just recommend streaming through a console or media stick.

Great Value
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Value. High Quality features, great Roku experience. Size is just right with the minimal bezel. Controls are standard Roku controls. Using the USB for pause live TV is very convenient. Picture is very good at all angles. Sound is good, although we added a soundbar out of preference more than need. The remote is IR so you do have to point at the TV to operate. We are very happy and wonder why anyone would spend more for a TV.

Great value and picture!
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv is great. It does everything at least adequately. It's doesn't have any flaws. It needs some color calibration out of box but once that's dialed in the picture looks great. It looks clean, motion is great. Gaming works fine on PS5 although I'm not a pro gamer. Movies look great too and it has good black bars with no blooming which is a big pet peeve of mine and a usual flaw in this price category. It's not super bright if you are super picky with HDR like more expensive competitors but fine for it's class. The only bug sometimes is when I use it in e-arc mode and it is feeding video to the tv it can lose the feed and the tv restarts. Of you don intend on using it that way then you are all set. This tv is a no brainer at this price.

Open Box - Fair
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV itself was pretty nice. Easy to set up with Roku and access a bunch of free media through Tubi and other streams. I bought it Open Box - Fair, and that was less pleasant. The TV didn't come with the legs/stand, so it couldn't sit flat, had to be wall mounted. It also didn't come with the Roku remote. The Best Buy staff gave me a universal remote for free, which was nice, but there is one button on the Roku remote that isn't accessible without the actual remote. Also the TV had a loose component on the inside, I could hear it moving when I lifted for the wall mount. All told, as I said, the TV worked, and it was pretty cheap open box, but I wasn't comfortable keeping it with those issues so returned it.

buy it
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this tv is a steal for $399 sorry best buy employees but a lot of time you guys don't know much about the products, this is great for regular tv programs and SPORTS a little adjustment in the picture settings and you shouldn't have any problems watching any sports, color, brightness, were all good to my eyes, didn't game on it so not sure about gaming but for sports its a steal sale person told me for $399 you get what you pay for, so I have a 70 and this 50 both TV's are great for sports same brand TCL. OH AND IF YOU GOT XFINITY YOU DON'T NEED TO SPEND MONEY ON A CABLE BOX ROKU HAS AN XFINITY APP THAT WORKS WITH YOUR CABLE PACKAGE.

50" TCL 4K UHD QLED Roku SmartTv
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 50" 4K UHD TCL QLED Smart TV I purchased is a great budget friendly option if you're looking for a new television. The built in Roku is a great benefit. The TV has (H)igh (D)ynamic (R)ange support, so light colors are extremely bright and the dark colors are extremely dark. QLED focuses more towards bringing with a full array backlight, which means they're great for brightly lit rooms and won't wash out. I have this model in my master bedroom and the sound quality is phenomenal. I feel safe to say that the quality should withstand even larger rooms without the need for a sound bar. The remote control is very small, basic, and simple with minimal buttons and NO keypad. If you do need the keypad and other buttons, feel free to download the TCL app to your mobile device. All of the menu screen are intuitive and easy to use. There's a great amount of inputs in the rear. You also smartcast from your mobile device to the television itself. Overall the TV looks, sounds, and operates wonderfully. It will not disappoint at its price point.

Love it and definitiely buy the upgraded remote
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Been wanting to upgrade but loved my plasma and didn't want to put up with the motion blur from newer TV's. I did debate between this 5 series TCL and the 6 series because the 5 is only 60hz. However, my built in cabinet wasn't wide enough for a 55... so the decision was made for me, 50" it is with the 5 series. I also looked at the Sam which costs easily twice but couldn't justify the cost. Decided that it was time though. I had a Roku Ultra attached to the old one and decided to skip using it and go straight to the TCL with Roku built in. First, Best Buy was super easy, literally ordered online, drove up in front of the store, checked in and the guy loaded it for me. Time at the store - less than 5 minutes and no loading woes. Nice job there! Got home and brought it inside, I was appreciative of the handles on the side of the box for sure. Got it out and assembled the feet. Gently pulled off the tape protectors on the edges of the TV. Plugged the electric and ethernet in as well as the external antenna coax. There ya go, done. Hardest part was not liking the cheap remote. Thankfully, I had purchased a Roku Voice Remote Pro already and easily paired it for a much nicer setup. I totally recommend this, it WILL make you enjoy the TV more. Out of the box the picture was really nice. In fact, upgrading from the 42 to the 50, while didn't sound like much in theory, I was a little surprised at the difference and it made my head a bit swimmy. The picture was so good, I didn't miss my plasma like I thought I would. Only tweak I did make was I changed a setting for smoother motion. I did not change any color settings or use IPQ, was very nice right out of the box. Sound is very good, no distortion. I also like using my remote with the headphones (again, get the better remote). It is plenty loud in the room and I do not have a soundbar or other external speakers. Wired or Wireless setup is a breeze. Most everything else is too. Especially if you already had a Roku. Though, I swear the TV Roku menu is slower than my Ultra was. Both were hard wired to a gig of download, so there were no changes in internet. I would absolutely recommend this to a friend, maybe even someone I didn't like. The simple remote might be a plus for those remote and technology challenged in our lives, simply because it has so few buttons and the ones on there are straightforward. Thanks TCL.

Beats the competition in almost every category
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After purchasing several big name sets and consequently returning them I read the reviews on this one. Not on in store I went by reviews and took a chance. Wow was I surprised. This is an amazing TV for the price and had to turn down brightness. So many settings to customize your personal preferences. Sound is great and picture excellent. The only reason not 5 stars is the remote, but I am going to see if I there is voice one available and will buy, making this an almost perfect set for the bedroom it's in meeting or exceeding the more expensive ones.

Solid value
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great for the price. Excellent bedroom or game room TV. Low input lag for games, great picture. However, the viewing angles are pretty poor. Probably not great for a living room which might have people watching from a lot of angles. Smart tv functions work fine and it integrates with Google Home (and I assume Alexa but can't confirm). Four hdmi inputs is appreciated too.

Amazing TV for the price!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Best affordable TVs you can get! The picture is very clear and the colors are beautiful! Also, it has a game mode which lowers input lag and makes gaming very smooth. Even though it won’t do 120hz gameplay for the future PS5 Im glad I upgraded from a 720p tv to this!

Genuinely a Great Value
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this TV for over two years now and am very happy with my decision. The picture quality and sound output are superb, as friends and family have comments. Multiple people have noted they feel like they are inside the TV when there are watching. High recommend. ... It also should come with a voice controlled remote (unless they've changed that), which is definitely a nice touch.
