TCL 5-Series delivers!
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV has a lot of bang for your buck! I upgraded from a 43in Samsung 1080p, so no matter what I knew it was going to be better but this TV has gone far beyond what I anticipated and also does wonderful with both 4k TV and gaming. It is not top of the line but for the cost, specially if you nab one on sale/used, you will be happy with the purchase. The Ratings review is honest!

Tcl 5 2020
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tv does great blacks! Great for gaming no lag or blur with options on. Good sound for a tv at this price. My only issue here is this tv isn't bright enough especially in HDR matter of fact compared to the TCL 40" 3 series that tv gets better highlights and a bit brighter I rather watch movies and game on it sad to say. My opion is go cheap with tcl or their high end the mid just didnt cut it. With that said my my brother has the TCL 5 2019 and it gets plenty bright but lacks in blacks a tad.

Pleasantly surprised-but keep expectations checked
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.most of the reviews on this product were accurate. I will not talk about the complexity of changing the picture for each specific app or why it will often change to closed captioning when not requested – you can see that in other reviews. But I will focus on is the picture. Overall, it is a decent 4K television for the money. There are not too many options in this specific size, so this is probably your best bet for the price. As a Roku TV it is also easy to use and to set up, especially since we already had an account. However, the picture is not perfect and in some scenes I have noticed two specific problems that bother me. The first is that there will be distortion and strange blooming affects when the contrast is fairly significant. You will see some slight halos and odd geometric patterns on walls in certain scenes that are simply a reflection of the cheap panel. Sometimes the colors are way over-saturated despite changing the settings to dampen it. It is at these moments when I realize it is a cheap television. The speakers of course are meh, and it will sometimes “crash” unexpectedly requiring a reboot—not too often, luckily, but it happens. Overall, I still recommend it—just don’t go into this television thinking it’s top of the line. It’s not.

Excellent TV for streaming apps
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our first TCL was purchased in early 2018 as we “cut the cable” and were in need of a new tv, and we were impressed with the ease of use through the Roku system. This latest purchase is our third that we bought for my 82 year old mother. It has been very easy for her to adapt to the simple remote and simple commands as she has chosen to “cut the cable” as well. TCL is a great picture with good sound quality and an excellent bang for the buck.

A very good TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Overall I'm very happy with the TV and would recommend it to friends. Pros: Very user friendly after set up. I'm amazed how much more powerful it is over my old streaming TV. There are many channels to choose and you can customize the home screen. The remote is different but easy to get used to. Cons: Set up was not as easy as it could have been. It was a bit difficult to find help for my problem connecting but I finally found a link to chat with customer support who told me to disconnect the TV from power and restart my router. That fixed everything. This should be in the set up/troubleshooting instructions since other people reported the same. The other thing is I wish I could program the instant connect keys on the remote to my favorite channels.

So far, amazing television!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing TV. I was a bit hesitant about a TCL television specially when there are other brands of great renown. Great image quality. 4K HDR shows are just neat. Easy to use, Roku has great options, and a really good deal overall.

The reviews I read were right, it's nice
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Most of the comments I read about this set came from a reviewer's website that consistently put it up against (and above) more expensive sets from the more familiar brands. Great color and contrast, nice deep blacks, and got it for an unusually low price between a sale and a coupon. The cons - it's still Android TV as opposed to Google but that in theory is changing with an eventual update(?). Movies Anywhere, for some reason, does not playback in 4k. Vudu using the native app looks washed out. Despite all my efforts to minimize suggestions for me, because I do watch a lot of horror my kids are constantly exposed to things the set assumes I'd like. For all of these reasons I kept my 4k roku - MA and Vudu look much better and far fewer potentially scary images for my kids. Other than that, the major con is the set does wash out quite a bit when viewing at an angle. But if you can use it in an environment where you can be straight on more than not, it's great for the money. Oh, and get a soundbar. But that's true with most flat screens.

TCL is ahead of the game.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't let anyone tell you TCL is not a good company. I have two of their series 5 tv's and they are absolutely amazing! For the price you can't find a better deal. This tv looks gorgeous right out of the box. No wasted time scrolling through menus trying to get the right picture. You can make some minor adjustments if you'd like, with any television, but overall the quality of the picture is fantastic. The build quality is superb. The Roku platform is such a breathe of fresh air, making finding what you want to watch simple and easy. Even the built in speakers are decent. If you want even better sound, TCL makes soundbars too! (which i would also recommend. I can't say enough good things about this tv.

Quality & Value = TCL
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have been a consumer or TCL products for years now and own several TV models. Purchased this for the QLED 4K UHD and you go wrong with the quality and price point. You may get a slightly better picture out of another top brand name but you will likely pay twice as much.

Good Value
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The default brightness picture settings aren't quite right out of the box, so the colors were off. However, once tweaked, the colors look good, especially in Dolby Vision sources. Colors look vibrant on this TV. It gets bright and it handles reflections well. Good screen uniformity. This TV produces deep blacks, but loses some detail in those areas. Maybe I can fiddle with the settings to improve that. I'm not susceptible to noticing motion handling issues in a TV, but as far as I can tell there aren't any of those with this TV. The TV switches between apps and sources quickly. The wireless connection is good with no drops. The Roku remote is well designed, but this version feels a bit cheap in your hand. That last point is minor, however. I really haven't noticed anything of significance wrong with this TV. It performs well and seems like an especially good value for $399.

Excellent picture!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great picture and the Roku channels are an added treat! The remote is a bit counterintuitive but that's a small thing considering the great overall value this TV delivers. Would definitely buy again.

Good picture quality and RUKU Features
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have only used this TV for a few weeks, but have been very impressed with the overall quality. I currently use this TV in a rural area with an over the air antenna and have been pleased with the quality of the picture. When internet becomes available in my area I plan to use this TV for streaming. However I have tested this TV at another location with internet access and found the RUKU features and channels worthwhile. My only complaint is that the remote control does not allow selecting and going directly to a specific channel. The remote channel selector is only “up” and “down” arrows.

Very happy with TV
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm really happy with the TV, It's got a good picture and decent sound. The remote is horrible. It has to be pointed directly at the TV and it's very slow. If you get this TV you will want to get one of Roku's voice remotes - model RCAL7R. Don't get the voice remote pro - they are very flakey with battery draining very quickly and having to be repaired over and over. The voice remote can be found on Roku's site for about $20.

Wow. On par with more expensive TV’s
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far so good! It took some tweaking in the settings to get the picture dialed in, and once it’s there this thing produces a beautiful picture. I don’t love the Roku system, granted I use them in other rooms in my house, but having the ability for this TV to start on my Apple TV input is great. Dolby vision is fantastic (F1 Drive to Survive looks incredible with 4K Netflix). Standard 4K also is 5 stars. I have a 65” Sony in my living room, while this thing isn’t quite on par with that in a few respects, that TV was more than 3x the price. So for this TV I purchased for the bedroom to even come close to that Sony’s quality at only $400, well that’s just purely insane.

A great television!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my TCL in September after researching the best TV I could get on my budget. Best Buy was great, making the order and pickup process easy. It's been a few months since, and I'm happy with my TV. The picture quality couldn't be better — 4K is totally worth it. While I haven't invested in a sound system, I'm happy with the built-in audio system. Roku is also very easy to navigate, meaning I've been able to add channels and navigate everything easily. My one complaint is that I sometimes have to restart the system when apps won't play episodes, but I'm not sure this problem is on Roku's end. Minor complaint aside, this is the real deal. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for high-quality TV at a reasonable price!
