Probably not ready for prime time...

TV is, for the price, pretty good. I'm nobody's expert; but I think where they skimped must have been on the image processing...hooked up to our high-end DVD player, or streaming stuff that's recent the TV does pretty well (it's a real deal for the $). Unfortunately, I waited until day number 15 to actually hook it up to "regular" sources (like broadcast television)...BIG mistake :-( The NFL stuff which I spent a good bit of time with trying to adjust things yesterday looks HORRIBLE ! Pretty much all standard-def stuff I've looked at is sub-par. LOTS of jaggies and judder. Since I know it isn't the set being unable to display well, I figure it must be the upscaling (since same signal looks fine on sets we have that are even 5+ years old). It's now one day past our return window, so I am stuck with it (tried, but BB won't budge) - but thought I'd look online to see what others have done to adapt. I can't say that I think its a really poor choice as a new set - but, given the other options available in the buy'er's market that is out there - I'd say to take a hard-pass on this one. For reference, we also have a 65" TCL QM8 which I am inordinantly fond of (for the price). Couple of other drawbacks worth mentioning...the glare from the set is AWFUL, even compared to older sets from a decade or more past - DO NOT think to install in a room with windows or bright lighting - you'll regret it. Also - the bootup time is preposterous - Google TV's interface was NOT the proper one to pair with the underpowered processor in this set. Nonetheless, I am not trying to knock the Q5 entirely - if you're putting it into a darker bedroom to watch more modern stuff (non-Television) - then it may do the trick for you. Just my thoughts - thanks :-)
