Avoid TCL TV's At All Costs

I bought two of these TV's two years ago, and the backlight just went out with one of them. Apparently this is a huge issue with TCL, just Google "Roku TCL" and the first thing that pops up is "screen is black." TCL customer service offers zero support if you didn't buy an extended warranty. This is unheard of for a 2-yr old TV. Spend some extra money and buy a better television.

Finally giving up on TCL
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I think I'm finally done with TCL, which also means moving past Roku, tho I do like the Roku platform. TCL's just up and die too quickly. I just had my second one of these die out of the blue. Like the last one, it's not power supply related ... the power supply is still doing its thing and the little light at the bottom of the TV frame is lit. But it doesn't respond to the remote. I've tried taking it off of power for 12 hours and then trying it again, but same result. TCL seems to me to be a very low-end brand and it shows. Too bad Roku isn't available from the more reputable brands as it used to be.

Broke after 2 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well was a great tv for 2 years then suddenly wouldn’t turn on, the light on bottom comes on 0ff but no screen, I tried resetting several times tried remote trick pushing down power for 2 minutes, nothing.

Spend the extra 50 and get name brand

Two years later, I went to turn it on one day and complete black screen. Sound worked and everything else. Reached out to TCL. They said warranty only covers one year. I have vizio and samsung tvs in our home that are 10+ years old. Do not buy this brand.

TCL MANAGEMENT/ PRODUCTS TERRIBLE!

I purchased this television 3 weeks ago and suddenly the screen has gone black , i tried all the troubleshooting tricks but no luck. Im at a loss because TCL will not contact me to exchange my faulty product . This particular tv has over 300 negative reviews all screaming the same song .. which is.. “ THE TV WENT BLACK & JUST STOPPED WORKING PROPERLY “!!! TCL YOU’VE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT BUT YOU REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE FAILURE & ACCOUNTABILITY. The store has cleary stated i must contact TCL because I threw away the box & no reciept but thats just a manager going by protocol which bugs me but it’s understandable. TCL HAS A SERIAL NUMBER ON THIS PARTICULAR PRODUCT WHICH SHOWS DATE OF ORGIN AND EXACTLY WHEN & WHERE IT WAS INVENTORIED & PURCHASED, so i guess i loss my tv , my monies.. BUT I DID NOT LOSE MY MIND .. Im never ever buying a TCL product again, neither should you guys . Their lack of professionalism is very troubling its PARAMOUNT THAT THE PRODUCTS YOU SELL US .. YOU STAND BEHIND.

LED Backlights go out after 18 months

Because there is a common problem with these. If you hear sound but the screen is black your LED back lights are out. You can replace them yourself but you have to be careful. I actually have a three TCLs and wont buy them again. Oh and TCL expert no canned reply please... You don't seem to help much at all.

TV turns ON, but there is No Video Problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do yourself a favor and do NOT purchase this tv if you value your money. I bought this TV sometime in late 2019 and the TV video died on me as I changed from Netflix to Prime Video. It's a known problem as you can do a simple search for "TCL TV black screen with sound" and you will hear loads of results of the same problem. Even the TCL website has a troubleshooting page on this problem. It will telly ou to check if the status LED light is on in front of your TV which is obviously YES. Verify cable connections again is obvious. Then you can restart the TV and Factory reset which does not work at all. Lastly you have to contact support and if you're out of warranty, you are out of luck and stuck with a big useless TV that you have to pay to recycle.

Two Years and KAPUT!!!

It did work beautifully for those two years, but now a vertical shadow about 12" wide fills the center of the screen. Built-in obselescence is our creed.

Exceptionally bad shelf life

Not worth it

It freezes, the remote loses its connection & even the app has a problem connecting to the tv. I can see this tv going out pretty soon, I should've spent a few more hundreds on a better tv.

Good tv but not meant to last . Shame .

It lasted over two years without an issue and was great , then one day I woke up and the TV turned on but had a black screen . Upon further research this is a very common issue with TCL TVs . The LED backlights on them go bad. You can see evidence of this on BBB website . So beware . The TV is great for the price but there’s a strong chance it’ll last only 1–3 years before having these display issues .
