Great picture from the front. If you have to view this from the side or angle, the picture color really starts to distort. The sound is better than most TVs I've had which is definitely a plus, but I'm not overly impressed with the Google OS. While it seems to do everything I'd want it to do, the controls are bit clumsy and the OS is slow...especially at start up.

I agonize over things when it comes to spending hundreds of dollars on electronics. I try to do as much research as possible. This TCL model consistently came up as having a wonderful combination of features and functionality at a fair price. Having been a long-time FireTV user, I wasn't sure what to expect with Google TV, but it's phenomenal. It works flawlessly, feels a lot like FireTV, but without having to plug in a separate stick in your HDMI port. All the apps are there and are simple to find. Setup was simple, straightforward and logical. The picture is phenomenal and surprisingly the sound is GREAT! It may not matter to some, but the remote control is an elegant design, with a simple layout, firestick feel, but longer and more substantial, so it's much harder to lose down the cushions and far more comfortable in your hand. They provide three HDMI ports, plus an ethernet port and surround sound support. The kids love the ease at plugging in their various gaming devices and the amazing responsiveness of the screen to their gameplay. TCL knocked it out of the park with this one!

This TV is great so far! The only thing I notice is that there is a delay when you switch inputs and sometimes it freezes when you go from google tv to antenna tv. But other than that it’s great and worth the price I paid for.

I bought this $300 TV to use in my garage gym.... which is really just my gym (detached garage is for the car). It's perfectly fine for that purpose. My review takes that into account. If this isn't your daily driver TV sitting in your living room - it'll be fine. But if this is your primary TV.... the viewing angles are terrible so you'll have to sit directly in front of it. If you have seats on toward the sides of the TV - the image washes out and deteriorates pretty quickly the steeper the angle off centerline you go. I canb only speak for the Google TV option, but the SEVERE lag on button pushes is ridiculous. Every button push. Say you're watching hulu. If you hit the home button to get back to the home screen you'll hit it.... and it'll be like 2-3 seconds for the TV to get to the home screen. Hit the power button to turn it off.... 2-3 seconds. It's got TERRIBLE lag. Speakers are speakers, which means they suck but that's every TV nowadays. If i had this 55 inch Google TV in my living room I'd give it maybe 2 stars. But again... it's in my gym. Once you get what you want to watch playing after waiting through the lag on the button pushes, and you're sitting directly in front of the TV.... it's got decent picture quality for a $300 TV. How long this TV will last though remains to be seen. I have my doubts. This was only bought because it's dirt cheap and sits in my gym and is just needed for background noise. It does that... fine. Even with that low expectation id only give it 4 stars because of the aggravating button lag. Average that out and you get my 3 star review. If you just want a tv in a room that's not your living room.... it's fine. Just "fine" though. If you're thinking of featuring this in your living room.... you are more lenient than me and have lower expectations than me. To be fair, as my main TV in my living room i have a sony bravia 900 85" TV. Compare this TV to that one and id give it negative stars. You don't have to spend $3k on a TV for your living room like i did, but if you can afford it I'd look at more in the $1000 or more range for your primary TV viewing needs. Everyone's different though...... but the lag on button pushes i feel like will or at least should annoy just about everyone. Bottom line.... it's DEFINITELY a $300 TV. I'm a firm believer in the saying "you get what you pay for." And a $300 TV - TCL lives up to this saying. And having a TV at the opposite end of the spectrum (expensive) - this saying is 100% true - you get what you pay for.
