WARNING - DO NOT BUY.....

Just shy of two months for a TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY. Limited warranty is ONE YEAR. Purchased for my son Xbox console so he can play whenever he comes by every other weekend and it worked fine. Then today, a crackling sound and it goes D-E-A-D. Called TCL support for the fun of it and the Indian accent guy, told me to plug into a different sock, check the cord and long hold. Came back and read a longggggggggg script from his computer about policies etc. Then tells me that I have to go to local repair shop. I read all the reviews prior to purchasing, but told myself let me go ahead cause maybe those were just isolated manufacturing defects that will be resolved. If this is the life expectancy of the electronic then it make sense to pay a little more for the trusted name brand. I have no small kids in my apartment, and each bedroom has its own TV. So there is hardly any wear and tear on the unit itself. Its ONLY turned on whenever I have guests. Save yourself the migraine and just shell out a little more cash and buy the trusted brand. My last Toshiba purchased 08/03/2011 just flicker and died last month 07/2020.

Awful TV!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this TV for 9 months and the backlight has gone out. Can hear the TV but no picture. TLC sent tech out that said cannot be fixed they will either fix it or replace it. We have been without a TV for over 2 weeks now and it will take another 48 hours to decide what they are doing (I requested refund I do not want this TV again). Customer service is slow and the TV is awful. Stay away from the 4 Series if not TLC all together if you want good customer service! I would give it zero stars if I could.

Returned for a Samsung - poor picture quality

However, this TV had the worst picture quality I have ever seen in 1080p TV, let alone the 4k resolution. What really sold me on how low picture quality it had was when I compared my PS4 Pro game set at 4k resolution on this set to a friend's $150 budget TV with the same game on a regular PS4 at 1080p resolution. Side by side, next to eachother, the budget TV blew this TCL TV away. I adjusted all the settings to what the "experts" said to online, but it never had a good picture. Even my friend was surprised how bad it was. Maybe TCL has improved the last couple of years, but I will probably never buy their TVs again. It was really that bad of a picture. The only thing I really liked was the Roku integration, as I've had that on other TVs, and is a very nice feature. I returned for a 2018 Samsung Q6 and never looked back. It was double the price sure, but you pay for what you get. Based on online reviews as this set being one of the best 4k TVs for the price at the time, I'm doubting whether they are legit/honest reviews or not? Buy with caution...

TCL tvs will burn out on you quick
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had 2 55 inch TCL tvs now and neither one lasted more than a year and a half, both tv screen backlights burned out. I won't ever buy TCL electronics again, this company uses cheap electronics and cut corners. Also, getting the first replacement was an abysmal customer support experience. Save yourself the trouble and get a Sony or a Samsung instead, at least if you want a long lasting tv.

TV dies after 1 year Warranty

The screen went black, won’t turn on, nothing works. Tried all fixes and it still won’t run. Passed the 1 year warranty so we are out of luck. Just bought her a Samsung A brand which I have used for years with no issues. Also the TCL sound bar never worked right. Garbage.

Junk TV Broke 1 week after warranty TCL is trash
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Few issues with this TV First, there’s light seepage around the frame, indicative of very poor Quality Control. 2nd UHD doesn’t work, none of my UHD equipped devices would recognize the TV as UHD. 3rd, picture really isn’t that great, we replaced a cheap 47 inch Westinghouse TV with this and the picture was barely an upgrade. 4th. TV broke one week outside of warranty. ONE WEEK!! TCL wouldn’t do anything for me, they clearly know they make a poor product, any company that hides behind a warranty like this, is fully aware of the poor quality of their products, and is only out to rob honest hard working folks of their money. The old cheap Westinghouse we replaced STILL works, good thing we held onto it or we wouldn’t have a TV. Im a professional A/V installer and I deal with a lot of companies and a lot of products, and I know when a company is putting out poor, inferior products and this is one. Since TCL decided to hide behind their warranty I’ve talked no less than 10 clients out of buying junk TCL tvs. One of which is a hotel chain that was purchasing nearly 300 of them to refresh their rooms. One was a private school that was going to buy almost 50. I’m glad TCL showed their true colors when they did because had I not known what a terrible company they are, I could’ve made a huge mistake in allowing good clients to purchase bad TVs. Don’t make the same mistake I did and trust an unknown brand like TCL, stick with a big company that has good service and good products.

Cheap product-you get what you pay for

Then, the backlight went out 4 months after out of warranty. How convenient that it made it just long enough to be out of warranty.

Spend more for a better TV

Of course they won't fix it because it's out of warranty (customer service doesn't even have a repair option for a fee), but I'm more bothered that this thing only lasted 2.5 years. Will never buy another TCL.

We bought this Dec 2018 and by Oct 2020 it was no longer working. This is apparently very common for this model. If you do choose to buy this, please do yourself a favor and get the warranty.

Horrible Quality

I got this tv as a gift for Christmas 2018 and I’m one of the lucky ones in that my tv lasted me almost two years. I got the black screen at the end of august 2020. Search the reviews and feedback throughout the internet. These tv’s don’t last long and everyone who purchases has an issue with it much sooner than expected. If you want a good tv for 8months to a year, then this is the tv for you. If you want your money’s worth, don’t buy this TV. TCL will only replace with a receipt. Unfortunately I did not have mine since it was a gift (not sure how many of y’all have your gift receipts from Christmas of 2018), and they did not provide any recommendations on how to fix it, or what could be wrong so that I can try to fix it myself. DO NOT BUY. WASTE OF MONEY.

Garbage.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had the TV for 13 months. One month out of wanrantee, the screen goes black and won't turn on. Flickers on the TCL startup screen and then black screen - sound works. TCL claims they don't know of this issue - which is a straight-up lie. It's all over the internet. After many hours on Tech service, I tried the Internet. Lots of people having issues, none of the fixes worked for me. Now I have a black screened piece of garbage hangiong on my wall that TCL refuses to acknowledge and now, I have to pay a fee for someone to throw it out for me. If you're ok with a disposable TV that you'll have to replace in a few months, this is your TV.

Stopped working after 2 years

It just cut out while I was watching it one night and it won't turn back on. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it. The picture quality was never good but it was big and cheap so I tolerated it. Besides that, it was a decent tv. The smart features and remote are cool. The only problems (which are very big problems) are that it broke after 2.5 years and that the picture quality is one of the worst. Considering what I paid for it I guess I got my money's worth. I paid about $450 for around 32 months of tv, that's about 47 cents a day for this tv. Maybe that's worth it to you but I'm pretty mad I have to buy a new tv.

DO NOT BUY
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased the TV from Best Buy 2 years ago. Has worked well, but got nothing but a black screen recently. Did all of the TCL recommended resets/fixes, still nothing. (You can hear sound, no picture.) Contacted manufacturer and was told if the resets didn’t work it would need a repair service, which isn’t covered after the 1 year warranty. Translation: not our problem. This is an extremely common problem for the TCL Roku TVs (do a quick search before buying, please). Repair will easily cost more than a $300 TV so it goes to the landfill—which really chaps me for a 2 year old product. Poor product, poor manufacturer. Buy something else.

Made to fail!

We did all of the troubleshooting, contacted TCL and they walked us through the same steps. They said their US TVs only have a 12 month warranty and unless I had purchased the BB extended warranty I was out of luck. I will NEVER buy from their brand again. They are made to fail!!!

TCL 55" Smart Roku- less than 2 yrs old

Last week when I went to turn it on there was no sound or picture. We tried the reset as suggested by manufacturer and still nothing happened. So, I decided to send them an email and ask if they can help me get this repaired since it was less than 2 yrs and not even used daily. They had me send them several photos and videos and then told me he was past my warranty and could not help me. They also told me that I could not purchase any parts to get it repaired.

Extremely disappointed

Tried calling TCL for support and they just said it’s out of warranty. TCL then said they would try to fix it if I could send pictures of it showing that it wasn’t damaged. I emailed them pictures Of the undamaged tv and now they are saying it’s out of warranty and they can’t do anything. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. TCL is a joke.

Worst TV ever do not buy

Have to unplug it every time I watch a show and reset everything because an error code pops up. I called the manufacturer they said to ship the TV back to them I would have to pay $200 shipping fee which would not be reimbursed they would refurbish the TV and send the same one back to me. WORST TV EVER!!!! I gave it a one star honestly don’t consider it a one consider it way below zero
