Good TV. Crap remote

I have to remove a battery when I’m done using it so they don’t die in 2 days. Bought & connected an Apple TV to try and work around the crappy TCL remote but the tv won’t turn on directly from arc-e and the tv won’t respond to the Apple TV volume control.
