Good reviews and great contrast

It adds the quantum dot which is basically saying you get a better contrast picture. I will say that so far, I have seen some framing issues with older 480P and 4:3 content but nothing I would say would make me take it back. The 4k is great on this set, but the contrast is out of this world for under $500 on sale. Just could not be beaten at that price. Cant say enough about Roku. Just the best platform overall out there for streaming.

I made a mistake....

Historically we have bought either Samsung or Sony and never been disappointed. This time, I went to CNET a usually reliable source for technology evaluations. They raved about 2019, TCL 6 Series, 2160p UHD TV. Both its quality and value. Convinced me. The sales associate at BestBuy agreed with CNET but admittedly was not the expert. He implemented my purchase but didn’t try to sell me on the product. I was already sold by my own research. Purchased one to have it in time for the Super Bowl. No surprises installing it. It came on fine and I was ready to enjoy it. Boy was I disappointed. Picture quality was poor. Colors, especially skin tones seem to saturate and have varying tints. Too bright most of the time. Resolution was/is not very good when compared, side by side to my 9 year old Samsung 42 inch tv. Not obvious or easy how to fine tune the picture so I’m resisting the urge to tinker with it. I was also surprised that the remote control is not supported on our Xfinity cable box so I need multiple controllers. I’m guessing this is because of the integration with Roku. A nuisance but not worth mentioning if I had good picture quality. Not sure what to do to recover but we are very disappointed. I made the mistake and have gotten no support help from TCL.

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, expert picture settings, and more. If you have a device that supports our IPQ Engine App, you can also use this to help calibrate the TV. Furthermore, our TVs are compatible with most Universal and cable remotes. Many Universal and cable box remotes can be programmed to control certain features on the TV. You can visit https://support.tclusa.com/tv-remote-codes for more information. Nice TV but I've been underwhelming.

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My cheap 1080p Toshiba exceeds this TV when I'm just watching AT&t u-verse TV. and surprisingly my cheapo 1080p Toshiba can match or exceed this TV's image in HDR and Dolby content on Netflix . I tweaked the settings a little bit to make it brighter or more colorful but didn't seem to make much difference. Still a nice TV and I like the Roku but not much of a improvement in picture quality over an old 1080p TV. that's a bit disappointing to be honest and probably not what people want to hear. Just being honest.
