Great TV, Frustrating Experience

Owned for 3 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been on a spiritual journey with this TV since I got it, so many hours and even days of nothing but troubleshooting. This TV has an amazing image for the price I got it at, and I got exactly what I paid for. Beautiful contrast, rich colors, tons of image adjustment options, Low input lag, built-in cable management solutions, Atmos and DTS:X passthrough, and every current HDR format to go with it. However, getting everything to work properly has been a nightmare. The TV will sometimes turn on and display faint outlines of an image that can only be seen at an angle, the picture will automatically adjust itself and then get stuck on those settings for a bit, even if auto picture adjustment is turned off, sometimes devices won't turn on or off with the TV and vice versa, if the audio doesn't sync up with the image and you adjust the audio sync settings to fix it, the audio will revert back to being unsynced with the image almost immediately, and Google sometimes just doesn't feel like working at all. Keep in mind, these issues are all easily fixable, but the frequency at which they happen is just annoying.

Nice but not as good as the ROKU

Had problems with the screen not coming on, took it back to best buy and swapped for a ROKU. The Google platform is nice but the ROKU is much better. The sound is better on the google but that is the only superior characteristic.

Picture quality is fabulous. Since the lack of good HDR content you still have to watch pixellated and boxy movies quality nothing a TV can help with. wouldn't recommend for the price.

Good value for money

The App Store has everything that I was looking for so no complaints there. I have never had stability issues that others complain about although I bought the TV just after they released the Google TV update that was supposed to fix that. It has a nice picture although my old TV was 15 years old so what do I have to compare it to? Benchmark tests show that the picture is very good especially for the prices so I’ll defer to that. As long as the software remains OK this TV is one of the best values out there.

Almost good

I bought it mostly for gaming and it didn't handle the motion very well in shooter games. Ultimately I ended up returning it for the LG C1 and that was the right choice.

They told me TCL and Hisense were garbage and swayed me to buy an entry level Samsung. I was so disappointed with the Samsung and after watching countless reviews on YouTube I went with this TCL 6 series. This TV is amazing!! The colors are vibrant and a very bright screen. Sports, video games and HDR movies look outstanding. I was about to drop $1500 on a Sony when I decided to give this model a chance. I’m so happy with this purchase, and you should give TCL a try. So happy

Excellent TV and fast OS

The software is smooth and bug free. I was worried about it being buggy from the reviews, but the update must have fixed it. The Google tv OS is faster than Android tv and has more features. It is also capable of 4K at 120hz for my PS5. I got this TCL 55R646 to replace a Hisense U7G. I had to return two U7Gs from Hisense because both had an unbearable mosquito/buzzing noise whenever they were on. This TCL tv runs silently and is superior in every way to the Hisense.
