I absolutely love this tv. It is quick, easy to navigate, the picture is crisp and the price is phenomenal. I choose this tv over my Samsung smart tv that I unfortunately paid much more for.

    Easy Setup

Ordered this yesterday, delivered today. Had this unpacked and set up in less than 30 minutes, including linking to my Roku account, with an additional 15 minutes to program into my Harmony remote. Picture is great but haven't viewed anything in 4K yet. Can't comment on the previous comments about sound as I have it connected to my surround sound system. 5* also to Best Buy for excellent service.

Couldn't be happier with this TV

I bought this TV almost two months ago to replace a much older 40 inch LCD TV. The picture difference is night and day. I looked at some really high dollar TV's while I was waiting for the really nice salesman to get mine from the back room. Not a single second of buyer remorse after looking at the much more expensive units. No way I would spend another $1000.00 on another TV regardless of size or options. There just isn't enough improvement for me to spend more than I did for this TV. The one and only negative I can give is that the IR remote works extremely well but would be much better if it was WiFi like my Roku 3's. Otherwise zero complaints!

vivid colors, Sharpness, Roku Built in!

in short this TV is stellar for the price. PROS- -Price -HDR (once settings have been adjusted) -Sharpness -Roku Built in! (probably the best ) CONS- -Speakers aren't amazing -Blacks are more of dark grey little light bleed from blacklight. when you play 4k disks the tv is incredible even when playing dvds, but really shines when you have 4k content to feed. this could easily be priced at the $600 price point for the sheer size and Roku built in.

    great 4K FOR THE PRICE

First and foremost, Best Buy;s web site has a HUGE error listed in the specks for this tv. The listing says the 405 is NOT HDR4k. In fact it IS a HDR4K set . You can look at TCL's own web site to confirm this. This is one of the lowest prices if not the lowest for a HDR 4k 55". I will add this is a LED witch will not get you the deepest blacks but if your a novice home theater fan this set is killer for you. TCL has really steeped up to become one of the top 4 tv makers in the US.

It has a great picture, and I really like having the built-in Roku. It's so much easier than it used to be to switch between apps.

This TV surprised me honestly.Very accurate colors and the brightness, while not super bright, was decent. Although, I will say that I personally didn't like any of the warm picture settings that were recommended. It washed out the colors pretty bad and turned the blacks grey. I left the picture modes on Normal and it looked pretty good. It kept colors vibrant and black shades black. Just my preference though. Feel free to try it. Very good TV for the price.

Bought this in Oct'17 for a stellar price of $400. 2 years gone past, no flaws, nice picture quality, sounds ok ; inbuilt Roku is a BIG advantage; 3 HDMI ports which functions perfect. Had issue after almost 1.5 yrs with HDMI ports, called up TCL support team and they were quick in resolving the issue. So, 5 starts to the Customer Support Team and TCL. MUST BUY if you are looking for good picture quality at a reasonable price for a 55'' TV !!

STAY AWAY - 2 TVs with dead backlight in 16 months

I got this TV in March 2022. By January 2023, the backlight had failed and the TV had a permanent dark gray screen. TCL’s suggested remedies didn’t work, and don’t seem to work for anyone, based off of these reviews. I had a Geek Squad warranty, so they came out to attempt to fix, to no avail. So, Best Buy ordered me a new one that arrived mid-February 2023. Here we are in July 2923, less than 5 MONTHS (!!!) later and the gray screen is back. 2 of these done in less than 16 months. Don’t ever buy this TV. To save yourself the trouble, you light as well stay away from TCL altogether.

We got this tv for a senior center and it’s been working very well. The size is good and the picture is clear. I especially like the built in Roku interface, I’ve also used a Fire tv and found Roku to be the easiest to use. I like that inputs can be clearly labeled so they don’t have a hard time switching between the Wii, DVD player, cable, etc. When my tv goes I will also be getting one of these for my house.

This TV hit our expectations. We originally went for a different TV, but the sales person was very knowledgeable about this one. We were able to get get more for our money. The picture is spot on. One thing that could be improved is the sound. Because of where the speakers are, we will probably purchase a sound bar. Because the TV has ROKU already, we are able to connect to multiple apps to watch movies.

Love this Roku TV! Excellent Picture out of the box, Sound is average for a flat panel. Really like the Live antenna TV rewind and pause functions after installing a usb stick. Love the Roku interface, easy to use and stream content too from my phone.

Best budget TV you can get

I'm head over heels for this thing. Sure, I love the look of OLED, and there are plenty of TVs that are nicer than this one, but in terms of pure VALUE, this TV knocks it out of the park. I purchased the 55" version for $399, which includes HDR10, Roku, and 3 HDMI connections. The backlight is bright, and though there is some image degradation as you move towards the sides of the TV, it's perfectly tolerable. I'm using the TV in the bedroom where that's not much of an issue anyway. There's also very low input lag, so games play great on it. It's just an all around great TV. Honestly, unless the brand is very important to you and you need something more than 55" big, this TV should more than meets your needs, especially if you're on a budget.

This TV is simply awesome. Picture is stunning, plenty of hookups. I have it connected to a Vizio sound bar and works perfectly. Read a lot of reviews and if you want to save money buy this TV. As good if not better than all the others that cost hundreds more. Picture is bright and lifelike. Highly recommend this TV!

Great TV and easy to use but the screen went black after 9 months. Currently contacting TCL to see if they will replace since it’s under 1 year. My Samsung TV is 8 years old and going strong.

This is a really solid TV. My reason for the review is I don't know why this listing doesn't show it has HDR but it does, it supports HDR10.

For the price, this is probably one of the best 55 inch TVs you can buy. It has a sleek design and great picture quality. Some minor cons are the somewhat flimsy stands and that it doesn't get very bright. We upgraded from a 40 inch and have absolutely no regrets about our purchase.

It worked well while it lasted, but after about 4 years the LED lights aren't working. I have taken good care of the tv, so I wasn't expecting it to stop functioning like that.
