The refresh rate is low, noticeable while watching some things and the HDR is on the low end. But, for $400 I would not expect more than this TV offers. Build seems quality and interface works well.

Avoid this brand - Died after 30 days
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Was ok until it wasn't, which ended up being about four weeks. The sound was terrible and I noticed it shutting itself off several times but didn't think anything of it. Last night it shut itself off and that was it. It wouldn't turn on no matter what I tried. I called customer service and they said I'd receive an email for a tech to come out and inspect it. I haven't heard from anyone yet. I've never had a problem with a TV before this. I feel that the company should just replace a new TV that's only a few weeks old and dead. I ended up buying a new TV already and went back to a more trusted brand, Samsung. My advise is to not be tempted by the price and pay a little more for more reputable brand. At the very least buy the extended warranty.

Only lasted a YEAR
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We purchased a 2160TCL - 55" Class - LED - 4 Series - 2160p - Smart - 4K UHD TV with HDR Roku TV at Best Buy on 9/42017 for $399.00 the picture is awesome but l had to be constantly resetting the TV because the screen was going blank all the time. It was an aggravation, two days ago we lost the picture on the TV for good, and unfortunately the ONE Year Warranty passed so l got stuck with an useless TV. If you buy this brand of TV make sure you purchase the extended warranty its offered by Best Buy.

I really wish my friend would just up and buy this TV already so he can experience the awesome picture and great value that it could bring into his life. One of my best friends: Michael Wright II, we’ve been looking at these TCL branded TVs for a while and now that he’s finally on his own and ready to expand his space I think he’s ready to buy!

You get what you pay for I guess

My Vizio 55 inch 4k TV that I bought 4 and half years ago just died on me last week. I was happy with my Vizio picture quality while it lasted As soon as I turned on this TV I noticed right away that the picture quality looked poor. I viewed 4k content and overall felt that this TVs picture looked closer to 1080p. I had another big problem with the IR remote that came with this TV. It literally would not register with the IR receiver at the bottom of the TV unless you pointed the remote exactly at the IR receiver. Imagine if the IR remote had a laser pointer on it and having to aim it in a precise spot to get the TV to do what you wanted it to do. I called TCL support the following evening thinking it would be a simple matter of having a replacement remote sent to me. The person who answered was friendly and helpful but ultimately determined that the IR receiver on the set was faulty. Im aware that I can use the Roku app as a remote and when I did, the TV responded normally, however i did not want to deal with the hassle of always having to unlock my phone. So I went thru the hassle of reboxing the 55s405 the following morning and returned it to Best Buy to exchange it for a TCL 55s515. (had to pay the 80$ difference) The 55s515 IR remote operation is just barely better than what I had with the 55s405 but the s515 has a much better picture and build quality Overall Id say I appreciate that TCL is selling affordable 4K Roku TVs but they really need to step up their game with their basic IR remotes

You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. We normally have it in the 40-50 range to make it sound descent in the room. Other than that, no problems..

Everyone was saying this has HDR (it’s not advertised as having it) but when I tried to turn HDR on on my PS4, I was notified that the TV doesn’t have it. The rest seems fine. Make sure you get a HDMI 2.0 cable for any media. The price was really worth it.

Failed remote not replaced by TCL

Fantastic TV

This is one of the best I have owned at at this price it is astounding in terms of value. I have never had a setup as smooth as the Roku interface. Alexa controls it perfectly with my harmony hub. Highest recommendation.

Died within 5 months

While occasionally the TV would not start but after a few times start on pressing the remote all of a sudden, it was chugging along ok for a while. Luckily , had the Geek Squad protection. I was refunded back the money with pro-rated GS plan applied and used that to buy Insignia Roku 55" HDR TV which was on sale for 349. Thus gaining 35$ Gift card. Compared to a 2 year old Hisense 50" 4K TV I found picture quality better in HSNSE but Roku ecosystem being far superior with the world of TV smart apps though it is missing the browser. Also the settings part of the ROKU TV is somewhat basic compared to more expansive HSNSE software.

Broke on arrival
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I went to Bestbuy, bought the tv, go through all the trouble to set it up, program and wall mount. 5 seconds after viewing it it has horizontal lines on the left side of the screen. I wonder if these companies care about the quality of the product they sell anymore. Now I have to use my time and gas to take the tv back to Bestbuy for an exchange.

All that glitters isn't gold.

It is great for gaming, but seems the internal components may not be of the greatest quality. TV worked for 10 months, but now turns on, but not display a picture at all. Currently going through TCL customer service, since it's still under warranty. I cannot recommend a TV that quits working within 10 months of service. However, I will revise this depending on my experience with their customer support.
