I decided to buy this 55in 5 series to save money but was disappointed by not getting the six series like I did upstairs . Dark scenes you can see light bleeding through unlike the 6 series which is backlit. I returned it and spent an extra $200 and got the 55 inch 6 series. What a difference. The 5-series is edge-lit which causes the bleed through unlike the six series which is backlit.

      Hi Bobs,

We're sorry that you were not satisfied with your 5-Series TV, and that you were not able to see the same great picture quality a majority of our customers are seeing. However, it's good to see that you are already enjoying our 6-Series as it is quite a unique experience. Best of luck and happy viewing!

I’ve had this TV for almost a year and it’s been a great choice for me. Honestly, I’m surprised how well the wireless card in the TV works with for perfect streaming since my router is in a different room. Great choice if you’re looking for a nice TV without breaking the bank.

I bought this TV for my college-aged daughter and she loves it. I thought I would help her set it up, but she zipped thru the setup process and was watching Netflix in no time. Great looking TV. Setup was a breeze. The volume is loud and clear. Now she wants another one for her bedroom.

Did a fair amount of research and found TCL to be a great option for reasonable money. I was looking for a workshop TV, easy to install and program. Wifi connection works great. Speakers are ok but there are plenty of upgrade options there too, without coming close to the high end unit prices.

It is a decent tv for the price. The quality is definitely not as great as it could be, and I’m not a fan of the sound quality. But for $450 it isn’t all that bad. It is easy to work, and I love how tiki is in there and apps are easy to download.

Bought it for mainly two purposes, 1. 4k tv 2. as a work monitor Has decent color reproduction and nice user interface. This model does not have voice activated remote but never felt the need of it. As a monitor, works really well for desktop work when game mode is turned on. No lags observed.

I got this TV for my parents after years of trying to convince them to upgrade. Was really excited for them to get access to Roku (their old TV couldn’t use it!). Unfortunately this TV wouldn’t sync with with their Vizio soundbar. The audio would be off and no matter what we could do, we couldn’t get it to stick. Occasionally it would be on for a minute or two, but it wouldn’t last. After three weeks (thank you Elite membership) we returned it and got a Vizio TV and haven’t had any issue at all since. That being said, if you are planning on using the TV’s built in speakers, this TV looked great and I love Roku’s Accessibility.

After countless hours and research, i decided to give TCL a chance. Lets face it, they're new, and they are supposedly up and coming. I'm simply not buying into the hype after purchasing the 515 series. Don't get me wrong, the picture is pretty good (if sitting DIRECTLY in front of it). Otherwise, you will be very disappointed. My tv has ripples/warps when viewing from an angle. I've confirmed with others that have this tv model that they experience the same problem. This appears to happen on solid color backgrounds. This defect WILL ruin your viewing experience, as you can clearly see the defect. Dolby vision is broken on this TV. I don't know if ROKU is to blame or TCL, but there is an abhorrent bug that makes dolby vision intolerable. I had to turn it off via secret menu, because the dramatic auto screen dimming back and forth between scenes was painful and embarassing. This is not how tv buying should be. There should be no panel lottery pay-to-win or exchange because said tv does not deliver. I want to give TCL a chance, but I'm big on first time impressions, and with aforementioned issues, i simply cannot continue to support a company that does not deliver. TCL if you are reading this, please reconsider taking great notice in quality control.

This TV is pretty great. My biggest concern with buying a big TV like this is whether or not the input lag from gaming would be tolerable. Good news: this TV has game mode so it decreases latency from the control to the TV, only downside is that it downgrades the picture but not that much.

4k plus Roku on the cheap! this TV was not built to blow away the competition in regards to picture quality. but my daughter noticed the clarity from her Panasonic TV which was 1080p. Keep on making affordable 4k TV's TCL...

This 4k is great for the price. Only 60hz but the motion rate enhancement helps make up for that. Keeps up great in action sequences and games. Only thing I don’t care for is the interface it brings you to when your first turn it on. Used to the tv turning on to the last used input.

Bought this TV as a further step towards eliminating cable. We have Rokus in our house already so we liked the idea of it being installed already on the TV. TV is very light and looks very nice. The picture is very nice as well, but while watching anything with a dark screen we noticed light bleed at the bottom corners. Tried adjusting setup to reduce but no luck. Called TCL and they had no clue what I was talking about, customer support was not good at all. Ended up boxing up the TV and returning for a Samsung.

this was definitely a good buy for the price that I got it for. I did notice a line going down the left hand side of my TV early on. It hasn't come back but I do have a picture of it just in case it goes out or anything within the first year. Nothing to complain about on this TV though.
