Great Bedroom TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Nothing super about this model. I consider it a great bedroom TV. Colors are fine, brightness is fine, HDR is a little garbage but in the age where OLEDs are cheaper its a better go-to. I would say for all "Smart" TVs this one with the Roku software is one of the better. Chromecasts moot this point but if all you do is fire up YouTube or Amazon: this will be just fine! For the price I can't complain and the 5 series I would say for a bedroom is perfect. The 4 feel too cheap and the 6 does not merit the price to place.

Bye bye Samsung!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought a Samsung tv at B.B. last year for my camp. I live in a fringe area and get off air reception which was spotty at best from pretty solid picture to heavily pixelated to no signal. Recently I was watching another tv on the same antenna with a rock solid picture. I turned on the Samsung and not only was it’s picture unwatchable but it biffed the signal on the other set. Went to B.B. and got this TCL Roku Tv. I now have a beautiful rock solid picture, much better app selection and by plugging in a thumb drive I can pause and rewind the picture for up to 90 minutes. Other brands beware: this company means business! The sound also rivals the sound from my Bose Solo 5 soundbar.

Great for gaming
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought this tv to replace a Samsung plasma that I only use for gaming. The picture is great and with game mode turned on there is no input lag that I notice. There are a lot of features this tv has that I might use in the future but right now it is only used for Xbox one. If you are using this tv for gaming make sure you put it in game mode.

ARC Audio Set-up Problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this TV based on a PC Mag review touting all sorts of features. The Roku TV menu & apps as well as being able to plug your headphones into the remote, etc. Well, you can't plug headphones in the remote and the Roku TV app is fine and relatively easy to navigate. The sales rep was helpful and he stated that the TV was not bluetooth enabled, but I didn't see that being an issue for me since I have a Denon AVR 5.2 s510BT receiver that is bluetooth enabled. Everything sounds fine and the picture looks pretty good; just in time to catch some of the Stanley Cup Finals and the Warriors clinch a trip to the Finals. The problem I have is connecting the Audio for the Roku TV Apps like netflix & youtube through my receiver through the ARC connection. After a bit of online research and some troubleshooting I found myself back in store for a longer HDMI cable and decided to pick the sales personnel. Basically, what I as told is that the Arc connection can be spotty and unreliable with even the high end receivers. Well, that doesn't make too much sense for the consumer to have a feature that doesn't work. Running the Roku TV sound through your home theater system shouldn't be that difficult. My solution is to stop trying to make the ARC connection work and just use the optical audio connection. I've got sound now, but only the L & R speakers and the sub woofer. I'll spend some time fiddling to get the center & Rear Surround speakers to work. On a positive note, the picture quality is great. And as others stated, you can customize the video settings easily to optimize the picture quality that suits your preferences. The in store ad listed this TV at a motion referesh rate of 120, but it's listed elsewhere at 60. Not sure which is true at this point, but I didn't have any complaints watching the games today.

Good for the budget
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Here’s the short story. Very good LED TV set for the price paid. Sweet spot viewing is great. The picture while viewing at an angle of 45 degrees or more degrades very significantly from sweet spot. Very washed out. Still viewable but you will notice the significance difference in picture quality.

Would Purchase Again!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is year 3 for this television and it's still as good as the day I purchased it. The picture is so crisp & clear that I'm not even considering upgrading to the newer generation with QLED technology. When I do, you bet it'll be another TCL for certain. I'm not rating the sound because I do not use the sound on my actual televisions, I only use external sound systems.

Great value for a 55" 4K LED TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was hesitant at first to go with TCL. But in terms of price, features, and video quality, it is a great buy and value. It's a great looking screen. The HDR and 4K changes the viewing experience for watching movies and sports. The TV is pretty responsive unlike my other Vizio M-series tv. The sound quality is just so-so (which is why I would rate it with 4 stars). I don't regret tis purchase and would also recommend it.

Pretty Awesome
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this up on the recommendation of an employee at Best Buy. I have to say this TV is pretty good. For the price you get a true HDR television with minimal problems. I haven't noticed the screen bleeding like other users, maybe I'm not looking that hard. Mainly using it for gaming, with a PS4 and PC occupying my HDMI slots. The picture quality could be a tad better, but as stated for the price it is a good buy.

Good TV for the price with some issues
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I bought this TV because of the reviews and features vs. price and it was my first 4k TV and I don't expect this TV to be on par (feature or Picture wise) with some of the other more expensive name brand TVs. Let me start by saying the 4k picture was amazing watching any 4k offering on Netflix. However when you try to watch any movie with Dolby Vision there is a seriously annoying problem where the brightness would change from bright (blacks washed out to dark gray) to dark (colors muted) depending on the intended brightness of the scenes of the movie. Almost like there is a long lag for the TV to adjust the back-lighting with the scene demands of the content you are watching. This problem is very distracting from the movie or program you are watching. If it wasn't for this super annoying lag or whatever the issue is with the Dolby Vision/ back-lighting I would definitely rate 4 1/2 to 5 stars. Maybe TCL can fix this issue with and update or something.

Posted .Hi BBtechjunkie,
There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access advanced picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, advanced picture settings, and more. Also, while your TV should automatically check for the latest updates, you can also manually check by going to Home>Settings>System>System Update>Check now. If you need further assistance, we would be more than happy to look into this for you so that we can better assess and understand what you are seeing. We can be reached at [email protected]. Hope this helps & happy viewing!
Thank you,
Sara

Great Bargain!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second TCL and I'm impressed with the value and performance of the 5 series. It strikes a great cost/performance balance. The Roku platform is quick, easy to use and simple to setup. The Roku app works flawlessly as well. Highly recommended.

One fatal flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV seemed to be excellent for the first twenty-six days. Beautiful picture, easy to navigate, good sound. On the twenty-seventh day it began to lose channels that had previously been scanned. Numerous channels would not show up after several scans. Store personnel indicated that Roku TVs are prone to this problem. I was also told I could get a new one, but with only a two year extended warranty rather than the five year warranty I had originally purchased. I returned it to the store in exchange for a non-TCL model.
