Great tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased my tv on Saturday but returned it on Monday due to light bleeding in the lower left corner that I couldn’t ignore. The second set is great, great picture, Roku apps, and sound. I’m really enjoying this tv so far

Best 4K 55” for under $500 PERIOD.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 5 series TCL 4K TV performs like an $800 TV. Picture is amazing. Navigation through Roku is fast and easy to understand. TCL is up and coming FAST.. Don’t be afraid, try a TCL. You WON’T be disappointed.

Fair but not a great picture unless right in front
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this TV. It was well reviewed by CNET, but I have to say was not overly impressed. After quite a bit of calibration of the picture settings, it was an above average picture. But the moment you move to a more side line-of-sight the picture would start to wash out. So good picture if you are sitting directly in front, but not great for groups. We also had sound issues with the apps, especially the NETFLIX and Prime apps. Which is what led us to ultimately take the TV back and get something else.

Best bang for the buck!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TCL has now become my goto brand for a great looking, and performing TV. The upper series (5 & 6) are phenomenal value propositions. They offer great panels and the user interface is quick and snappy. Even 4 years later, the user interface is FAST when compared to new Samsungs, LG's etc... If you're looking for a TV that works great, and don't want to break the bank... check out a TCL. (Look at the upper series models)

Great budget tv
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bought an LG from bestbuy over a year ago and had an annoying " unknown device not connected " pop up all the time on the screen. After researching i found others have the problem as wrllr. So I looked around to try to find a budget tv that although night not be as good as the high end tv s but have a lot of value. I got this TCL and it has to be the best tv I ever owned so far anyhow. Love the colors and everything just pops. You do need to play around with the video setting to get it to your liking. I added a Sound bar and couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Glitchy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is great but the TV is glitchy. When you program channels, even though you select them in numerical order, it doesn't pull them in in numerical order. There are times like today when there are audio glitches on all my download sources. And I can pull in stations on another TV in the house that don't even show up in the channel lineup on this one. I also don't like the fact that you can't go directly to a channel - you have to scan up and down until you find it.

Great product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Awesome product, if you like using Roku. Makes life easier to only use one remote again. One thing I'd like to clarify - it is awesomely easy to disable motion-smoothing on this tv, a feature I really value! Google-searches did not make that clear but it's an advanced setting available to all inputs.

I think TCL cuts cost with cheap motion processors
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the TV at first and almost rated it 5 stars. I apologize to the other reviewers if they have not yet noticed how bad the set really looks in the ways I am about to describe: I would almost swear the first 2 weeks the TV looked better than after that time window. Either that, or I am just now noticing all the problems with the 55S515... The problems (most distracting): there is a lot of motion trailing and the tv cannot handle camera zooming worth crap. While I was watching Top Gear, as the car was flowing past some buildings, the windows looked like you were passing through water or in a hologramic type of motion - like the shape was wobbly and weird. Looks like a cheap picture but not as cheap as the Sharp I bought several years ago. I believe I am done with "budget" sets. In hindsight, I noticed a show looked bad on Acorn (Midsomer Murders) but I thought it was only on Acorn because I found the show on Netflix and it played just fine (I found the same exact place where the problem was most noticeable). Now 2 weeks later, I notice it happening on Hulu (Property Brothers) and Netflix (Top Gear). This TV may be good for gaming but I believe watching TV on it sucks. I imagine TCL skimps on their processing units and that is why it sells sets that appear high-end as affordable. I notice TCL tvs have the visual appearance of low-end tvs in their handling of motion and zooming. I do not know the technical terms but I know it when I see it and describe it best I can. I have used the settings from rtings.com. I have played with all the different motion and contrast options but the tv problems seem unfixable. There is also some issues with the contrasting imo. I wish I could return but I am outside of my return policy window (only 15 days, I notice the problems most on day 20). I advise to check out another brand as this is my 2nd attempt with TCL (purchased last year's P6 series and it had judder issues worse than this one). I'll probably stick to Samsung with a possibility of LG or Sony from now on. I really hate hurky-jerky looking tv pictures.

Low Quality to Match the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Roku that comes with this remote, in my experience, is terrible. There is almost always a long delay between pressing a button and the corresponding action. Many times, the same button needs to be pressed again. A IR signal repeater did not help the issue. I ended up having to pair my other Roku's RF remote to the TV to get it to work properly. TCL's response has been to check my batteries. The picture quality is below average. Blacks, particularly, are not dark enough and the picture is not very sharp. I will not be purchasing another TCL TV in the future and wish I hadn't purchased this one.

Extremely fragile
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The TV looked great in the store and was a good price. When I got home I was amazed at how thin it was. As I was getting ready to mount it, it tipped over against the cushion of the ottoman and the corner bent back 35 degrees and the TV was ruined. $450 down the drain

Poor product quality
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased 55" tcl tv in May of 2018. It lasted a few months , the screen quit working. Tcl warrantied tv . Second tv last about 6 months or more when it developed same problem. They warrantied it with what appears to be a repaired or used tv. Has a cross threaded screw in back panel. Dirty screen, and dirt in crevices. I would not recommend buying any Tcl products.

Look elsewhere
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this based on ratings and recommendations, and all I can say is that the picture was not real clear, had motion blur, and even though I was in my basement where it is very dark it was still difficult to make out details in dark scenes. I even changed all of the settings based on various recommendations and it did not help. After a couple of days I returned the set and I'm looking for a different unit. I guess I am just spoiled by my Panasonic plasma 50 inch TVs
