Outstanding TV at an Incredible Best Buy price!
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are like me, sometimes you think back to a time when you made a great purchase -- a wonderful deal -- and conjure up those proud moments. For me, this TV purchase was one of those happy moments and it came courtesy of an outstanding sale at Best Buy. Prior to purchasing this TV, I had purchased a TCL 4-Series on sale from Best Buy for about $329 (if memory serves). The TV was very lightweight, had decent picture and sound quality, and the leading operating software from Roku which I love. Rtings.com also had given the TV their stamp of approval. After buying my son an XBOX One X and later the XBOX Series X, I wanted him to have a high quality 55" flat panel for his gaming. The aforementioned TCL 4-Series as a great value purchase for me, but I would have loved to move a bit more upscale for either the 5-Series or the 6-Series. I picked up the TCL on sale for only $399 (regular pricing in the past had it around $599 or higher. As soon as I saw it I immediately ordered it. I wish I could say that that getting the TV had been an easy process. Unfortunately, I had to get 3 separate deliveries until I had a working unit. The first 2 units delivered to my home were serious damaged during transport. One screen which I had photographed had been shattered and had large bubbles on the screen. Best Buy did a great job of sending the delivery truck back to bring me a new unit and get rid of the old. My son really enjoys his TV set and uses it for XBOX game and some movie watching. I am really happy that I was able to get him this high quality TV at a great price.

Great tv for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was apprehensive at first on this purchase due to some reviews related to vertical banding but I’ve had it now for over a month and I can’t say that I’ve noticed this issue on my tv. Very clear picture.. awesome. I would like to get a sound bar though because speakers on flat screen tv is typically not the best. Overall, I’m happy I made this purchase.

First 2 months in, great TV
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had this for a little over two months now. Picture is great, Roku interface works quite well. The big thing on this is the local dimming. When I'm watching dark scenes, the darker areas of the screen are nearly black. Compared to the other LEDs I've owned, its a distinct difference. I should note, there is a slight banding issue. For some reason, when i turned the gamma to 2.4, that largely stopped. All in all, definitely worth the buy, if for movies alone.

Best TV at the price point.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you want a cheap inexpensive tv that offers many high end features, and aren’t wrapped up in brand recognition (btw TCL is one of the largest tv manufactures in the world, they’ve slowly been gaining ground in the US), this tv is well worth the purchase. Pros: 4k Low input lag HDR Dolby Vision Roku Smart Platform Cons: Lacks the processing power of higher end TVs (to be expected at this price point). Screen Uniformity could be better. Replaced my original TV. New one is much better.

Excellent TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In my living room I have an LG OLED 65. In my bedroom this tv is fantastic. I absolutely love the brightness and color. I did my research weeks before buying this and aware of vertical banding issues. My TV has none and I lucked out. Favorite part is ROKU built in and Pluto TV (free), get to watch dedicated poker channel. Also like the quick buttons for netflix, hulu, directtv now. Menu is simple yet efficient. Very sturdy stands. I have not experienced any issues with watching through built in wifi.

Restrictions on headphone connectivity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While the price is good, and the picture is good, the TV will not output sound unless the headphone jack has nothing plugged in. Just turning off the headphones is not enough. So, after an evening listening via the headphones and wanting to enjoy an evening outputting sound to the sound bar, first the headphones have to be unplugged. That jack is not on the front of the TV either.

TCL 55" 6 Series
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, we have been very pleased with this TV. Great features. The Roku interface is very nice. We prefer it over the Chromecast. The ability to search Movie, or Actor and have it scan all your apps to see what related programs are available is nice. The picture quality is very good for the price. Best TV I have owned thus far. So far, as a video and audio enthusiast, I would recommend this TV to anyone looking for a quality, budget friendly TV. The HDR and 4K really stand out.

Good picture and OS
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have read and watched good reviews about this TV. It was a tie between this or Vizio P55. Went with TCL because I liked Roku better and didn't want to buy an external smart TV stick to pair with Vizio. Picture quality is what's most remarkable, when watching HDR content. Comes with some popular apps installed. YouTube works great (on Prime TV stick, it is a mess). Remote is decent enough.

Best value 4k HDR out there
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been trying to convince my wife that we need a new TV for the better part of a year. Our 12 year old Sharp Aquos was top of the line over a decade ago, but it's age was apparent. She fought hard until we visited a relative who had just upgraded to a new Sony OLED. After 5 minutes of Moana, she was hooked and gave me the go-ahead. I consider myself a savvy shopper, so I read innumerable reviews, both from customers and tech sites. The TCL 6-series is the clear winner on all of them for under $1000 for a 55". After using it for just a week, I'd argue that it's the best TV for under $1500. It's obviously not as nice as our cousin's Sony OLED, but it costs exactly 1/5 of what that set does. So you pay 80% less for like 15% lower quality. Stop reading this and buy already!

Excellent TV for the price point
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did my homework before making this purchase and I can tell you that all the reviewers are correct. The picture quality is on par if not better then TVs in the next pricing category up. My only complaint is the Best Buy model comes with the IR remote as opposed to the WiFi remote so line of sight is required to make selections and change the volume. Not a deal breaker by any means.

What an upgrade
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plain and simple, what an upgrade from my s403, love the picture quality, soap apers effect, colors are amazing with hdr, just plain and simple best TV I've had. Best bang for your dollar this blows 2k TV's out the water company competitors must be shaking in there boots right about now. Only difference with this BBmodel and the official model r617 is the voice remote which I don't care for voice commands because have you ever tried to ask Siri something and she never understand you? Exactly lol.

Amazing entry level 4k tv
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture is fantastic, really impressed. Doesn't handle motion well unless you turn on the motion reduction mode which dampens the brightness of the picture. Amazing colors and vivid 4k picture. Fantastic for the movie buff who is ballin on a budget. Sound isnt the beat nor the worst. The roku interface was new to me but has quickly become my favorite. If you are on the fence about this place tv dont be. You will get the bang for your buck!

Excellent picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I returned a LG and pick up this TCL 55”. I couldn’t be happier with the decision. The picture is fantastic. Only thing I wish I would have done was get the 65”. Also the remote isn’t the greatest and the placement of the ir receiver on the tv is not in the greatest spot. I find myself moving the remote all over and pressing buttons several times before the tv picks it up. I am giving it four star only because of the remote issue.

Posted .Hi 2bsat,
In addition to the remote that comes with your TV, you can download the free Roku app on your smartphone or tablet to use with your TCL Roku TV. By using the app you can use it as a remote control as well as gain access to voice search, voice control, and experience private listening. In addition, you will also gain access to more settings and Smart features. Hope this helps!
Thank you,
Sara

TV- so far has met expectations
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Like the TV. Negatives:It does have some light reflection on it. There is no option to swivel the TV to adjust to side angle seating. Remote must be in sightline to function. Positives: Nice picture. Like the Roku TV option. Be sure to use the CEC option so that all your components are linked to the TV functionality. The metallic bezel looks good. Price dropped $100 day after my purchase and BB made the price adjustment painless.

Very solid budget TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a plasma in our bedroom, it was a tall order to find something to replace the blacks, contrast and general uniformity of that. After really digging into the settings (btw big tip: download the Roku app to get expanded settings like gamma and turning off noise reduction) this TV does have some great blacks and contrast and very solid Dolby vision HDR. The uniformity isn’t quite on par with the plasma, but the 4K Rez and blacks and HDR make up for that.

Fantastic!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been waiting for this set to be released ever since CES this winter. I followed TCL's 2017 models closely, and was very excited about the new 2018 line. I ordered the 55" set as soon as I could, and WOW. Stunning with HDR content. Handles 1080P sources incredibly well. And that Roku interface can't be beat. Yes, there are other TVs out there that will out-perform this one. They also cost two to three times as much. In terms of a value proposition, this TCL can't be beat!

Amazing TV for 4k content!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this TV for all my gaming and 4k content needs. The HDR does fantastic especially at the 1000nits that it has. Very bright areas on the display. The blacks are incredible, not quite OLED quality but you wont be disappointed. Also the fact that the support for these TVs from manufacturer is amazing as well. This TV by far has been my favorite TV that I've purchased in the last 10 years and that's compared to LG and Samsung displays in the past.

Gteat Value
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is amazing for the price. At half the price of the Sony 900f, and $200 less ( at the time ) than the Vizio P series. You get a better OS than either of them and a picture quality that is on par with both. I own top of the line TVs from both Vizio and Sony. This TV more than holds it's own up against them.
