Roku provides excellent ease of use. The price is amazing. You need to double the price to get equivalent performance. Wow.

The TLC Roku has a great picture, is easy to use, great value for the price but the sound leaves something to be desired!

I've had this tv for a week now and I love it. I have tested all the features available (4K, HDR10 and Dolby Vision). I love all of it. Dolby Vision looks amazing. I have read some reviews where people were having issues with it, but my tv is not one of the problem ones.
The only thing I would like to improve on is the sound. You have to really turn the volume up high, to get decent sound. A nice 4K receiver or soundbar will fix that issue though.
Buy this tv.

I've owned many TVs. This does not make me an expert on TV but more or less somebody who really likes TV. This TV meets and/or exceeds my needs. Looking for an affordable TV that looks good and performs well look no further. However if you're looking for a TV that has the richest and Best for 4K picture this may not be for you. That being said if you're coming from 1080 World you'll be very happy again my opinion. This is a really great television.

I'm going to keep it short and sweet. I use this tv with my PC primarily and PS4. Its a major upgrade from my 7 year old Vizio. On my PC, 4K is gorgeous. Regular HD just looks smoother and more clear. PS4 looks more vibrate, but still regular HD. So not much 4K content I will be watching but will be good for the future. Don't want to play too many of my games in 4K because it's a hit on performance.
One great thing is when you connected it too the PC, you can use it as 120hz refresh rate. Couple of bad things, you do get that dirty tv look at times and also banding at times. Honestly, it doesn't bother me at all. Once I looked for it, I noticed it and now I don't even care. If it last a couple of years, well with the money. Also viewing angles to me are not that bad. I would have given it a 4.5 rating but don't have the option. Man this seems a lil long, oh well, glad to help someone. Don't compare it to TVs that cost $1,000s of dollars, just appreciate it for what it is.

So this is a review for someone who wants to know about issues. Started happening a few weeks ago but when I turned the tv on it struggled to come to the home screen. I could see everything very faintly lit in the background working but the picture would not fully come on. After several minutes finally it would come on. This only got worse and worse and now will not come on at all even though all the function are still working as I can click on them and sound and all works. So I called the TCL Support line and they scheduled a repair guy to come out and look at the TV. I called TCL on Sunday and the repairman made his visit on Friday. 5 days. Not too bad. Could have been sooner iyam. He assessed that the screen had gone out and they will replace mine with another tv. I have no idea if it's brand new or refurbished. I'll edit my review once I know that. In summary this tv works very good when it was working. On the back it says it was manufactured in DEC 2017. In no way should a tv go bad before a full calendar year. Only reason I bought this tv was because of the price. If you can afford another brand I would do so but if you want to go cheap def go TCL.

Vertical Banding/Dimming

If you like hockey or watching otherwise anything on bright backgrounds then this series 6 model has some issues. I have made attempts at profiling but no success minimizing the effect. I even turned off local contrast which did not help and also defeats the purpose since that is a feature desired. I have not had any issues with the Roku OS and I have two other Roku TVs and one of the original Roku devices and not faced a single issue. I am not impressed with the 60hz refresh either and it would not be that big of a deal if motion clarity did not bump the brightness down halfway. I can probably deal with it though in all honesty but the simple response is I would have gone with Vizio if they had not removed their digital tuner. I like having the option of an antenna especially when there are cable/satellite outages. On the flip side, darker content is great since the banding is not noticeable. I am between a rock and a hard place now because the TV fits the bill with the price so I do not want to spend much over that. Maybe an exchange for the same model and maybe this one will be better. Other issue is these are on backorder for now and who knows when they will be available for exchange.

Love the image quality. Simple to use remote (with option to download ROKU app to phone and use that). Install was easy and unit very compatible with surround sound electronics.
Ordered first unit from Amazon. Damaged during shipment. Full refund but inconvenient. Bought second unit at store. Unit is a little fragile (and or packaging inadequate).

Was looking to buying the P series about and month ago but held off for the 6 series and was not disappointed. I upgraded from a sharp aquos 4k and the difference is staggering. If you're thinking about this one, pull the trigger. The brushed steel look is dope as well.
Also, if you're hooking it up to your xbox, change the HDMI input in the ROKU settings to 2.0 instead of 1.4, took me an hour to figure it out. You're welcome. Buy this TV

Purchased today. Setup was easy and quick. The picture is clear and crisp. I researched all the top mid-range priced 55” TVs and this one was rated the highest so I bought it all be it with a little hesitation because I wasn’t sure about TCL. Early impressions is it’s a really nice TV. I’ll update in a week or so.

Dreaded Vertical Banding

I’m really disappointed. I have been researching and waiting for the 6 series to come out for months. I actually started saving to make this purchase last fall.
The color is spectacular! The image is beautiful, so real. Unfortunately, I have the vertical banding and splotches on any solid color screen. It’s to the point I can see the individual contrast zones.
I’m most likely returning. Also in all good conscience I can’t recommend this purchase. Sorry TCL, I was really hoping for a great tv.

TCL Tvs DIE IN 1-2 YEARS- BUYERS RESEARCH FIRST
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I bought my TCL Roku TV and made the mistake of not purchasing an additional warranty. Because guess what, these TV's need them very much. Without the additional warranty, you're pretty much buying a new TV every 2 years, or maybe less (unless that's something you enjoy doing) . TCL Tvs utilize a very inferior quality lighting and powerboard that has a shelf life of 6 months to a year. So if one doesn't conk out, the other will, and lo behold your TV will not work. There most common issue (>50% of all TVs sold by TCL) have this problem. Google it if you don't believe me. In order to keep costs low, TCL does not provide technicians and does not provide any support for their TVs, unless they're within warranty, because there's a law that does not allow them to sell TVs without it. I've just had to shell over $1000 because nicer TVs are expensive, and ANYONE is better off spending more money on more trusted brands, than on TCL. You have been warned, buy their TVs, and suffer just as all others have. I can't believe these guys aren't out of business already.

I was planning to purchase a Samsung and had my eye on some black friday deals that I was not able to capitalize on. When I went into Best Buy to look at the quality standards the TCL blew me away at the quality of the picture. I primarily use the tv for netflix, xbox and playstation. The controller is easy to use for netflix and as a gaming TV the picture standards are amazing! Way to go TCL!

Keeps Randomly Shutting off

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I was one of the lucky ones to avoid the vertical banding issues that others have complained about, however the TV shuts off at random times. It could be after 10 minutes or after 2 hours. Sometimes it will do it back to back immediately after it's turned back on. Spoke with TCL warranty department and they tell me it's a known issue with the Roku software and said they are working on it but have no estimated timeframe of when it would be fixed.
Other than that the picture quality is great and the Roku integration works excellent. Save for the issue that I've been having, it's a great TV for the price.
The only other complaint I have about the TV is how thick it is. The competing Samsung model is almost an inch thinner. Sticks a little too far out from the wall for a 2018 flatscreen.

I love how dark the black is during shows/movies. I use my Harmony remote and wish I could use the number pad to change channels, but the TV won't accept this input. I also wish it had a "previous channel" feature. I like that I can record up to 90 minutes of live TV once I plug in my thumb drive. I would recommend while pointing out my issues written here.

This tv is fantastic and the Roku being build right into the tv is great. We have had a Roku device for over 6 years prior to buying this tv, so we have always enjoyed Roku. The picture quality is really nice, I don’t know how much better a more expensive tv could be. I wouldn’t be afraid to recommend this set to any of my friends or family.
