    Vertical Banding Issue

    I purchased the 55" 6 series a few weeks ago based on the positive reviews it was getting. I noticed the vertical banding and dirty screen effect (DSE) right away. I contacted TCL support and they told me to go in and make some changes to the settings which I had already done. I emailed them back that the changes did not work and do they have any other options to fix the issue. A few days later they sent the same email back about the setting changes. Again I emailed them and said that the changes did not work and I was going to return the TV if they could not help me. I sent that email on 5/26 and I have heard nothing back from them. Unfortunately I can't recommend this TV and will have to return it as I have received no further response from TCL support.

    Worked for about 10 days then dead...

    TV lasted about 7-10 days and screen started to flicker and turned green. Returned to Best Buy for a new one. We'll see how long this one lasts. Tv does have a nice picture quality to it....but needs to last more than a week.

    TCL 55 Series 6 TV has worked out well. No picture issues as mentioned here. Two issues. #1 Periodically sound keeps dropping out for a split second and continues for a while. This issue is well known on Roku TV forums. Issue #2 The email address given here to communicate issues has not responded to several messages. Totally bogus.

    Dolby Vision OUTDATED! 15FEB19

    Best Buy lists the TCL 6 series as having dolby vision. I bought it for watching dolby vision content from the UHD Bluray on my Xbox One X. Dolby Vision is disabled on Xbox and says the NEW TCL that literally just installed the latest software OUTDATED! Best Buy advertising the TV as Dolby Vision Certified is false advertising.

      This TV is Dolby Vision Certified. Dolby Vision can be utilized on many of the streaming apps in the channel store. You can expect the Dolby Vision update in Q1 2019 for Xbox support.     Horrible Quality Control and Customer Service

    I'm on my second R615 Panel as my first was a lemon panel that stunk of burned plastic smell and had horrible vertical banding.... My second panel is only about 4 months old and the backlight went out. No picture. So TCL tells me to sit around and wait until they can get a tech to come out and fix my tv. They send random "TV Tech" to come "fix" my tv. Well he spent hours replacing parts and told me unfortunately the panel was unfixable. SOO I am sitting here without a TV for what will most likely be several weeks as TCL hasn't called me or spoken to me about fixing the issue. I emailed them demanding a refund but they replied stating they "don't do refunds on our end" So I have to sit around for possibly 10 more days waiting on a replacement tv I told them I DO NOT WANT. They flat out refuse to refund me for my broken tv that is under warranty. BUYER BEWARE unless you want to deal with the hastle of their horrible quality control and "customer service" stay away from TCL

    Great for price but dim corners and banding

    Great tv for the price but the noticeably dim corners (around 2in radius) and banding issues (not all the time, but when it shows up, you can immediately tell) drops this down to a 3 star. If you don't need a TV right now, skip this generation. Maybe next year's will be better.

    Value TV except for the quality issues

    I really wanted this TV to work out for us in our bonus room, and I have reviewed all the other review on amazon and bestbuy and knew going in that there maybe an issue with banding, but I thought that the value of this set is worth to try it out. My set did not have any banding, it instead had three dark dots in the center of the screen, equally spaced apart. I thought it would be okay and not notice it but even on dark scene the spots turn whitish. I will be returning the TV and opting for another brand - I don’t have the time to switcxh it out and try again.

    Good picture, loses network connection

    Bought this in June 2018. Has worked well until recently. For the past 2-3 weeks, loses network connection. Have to go into Settings and reconnect. Did factory reset, didn't help. This is a pain and I would not recommend this set.

    Great Picture but bad burning plastic smell

    I was excited to get this unit as I own the P605 as well. Now that I bought the R615 everything is great but it is stinking up my apartment with a burning plastic/metal chemical smell. I figured it was just the new electronics smell and it would fade but it is still very evident. I feel that exchanging it for a different unit will lead to the same result and a waste of time. So unfortunately I will be refunding it and buying a different brand as the smell is not going away!

    vertical band issue

    waited a long time to finally purchase this. the roku was a definite plus since i plan to cut the cord. but i noticed some inconsistencies on the screen at times. after doing some research and youtubing screen tests i learned it was some vertical band issue that others have complained about. although not as bad as ive seen online, its still noticeable. ill be returning it this weekend.

    Picture was OK, but there are faults

    Ready to play the panel lottery? Buy this TV, but be prepared to do return(s) before you are satisfied. My panel had DSE and tons of banding. Returned for a Vizio P Series and much happier.

    Backlight Went Out

    My fiancé and I purchased this TV May 21, yesterday Nov 23 the backlight went out. 6 months isn't a long time, but we bought geek squad so we figured it'll be a simple process. Wrong. Best Buy doesn't deal with TCL, BB just transfer you to TCL. This is due to TCL's policy not Best Buy. 15 minutes later, TCL tells us they have to send a part and contact a local repair person who will visit us in the next 5 to 10 days! This is an inconvenience to say the least abd my fiancé is over TCL completely, Wish we could just go to BB and swap the TV.

    Don’t buy this tv if you want quality

    Bought the tv last year (and a week ago to be exact) and what do you know! The tv screen stops working though you can hear sounds of remote working. Called tcl support only for them to tell me that they don’t know what’s wrong and I have to cover the repair (to which there is no physical damage) myself. What a rip off. This tv just so happens to have technical issues a week after the warranty is up. Don’t waste your money

    Roku controls this TV, or TCL they pass the buck!

    We live in a rural area, and what with fringe antenna, Constantly rescanning stations. No control over the TV channels, poor volume. Have had software trouble every year for 3 yrs. Bought Sept. 18, 2018. Would not recommend buying. Even bought their soundbar not much help. But great picture.
