I bought this 55" TCL after testing it in the store with my Linux Laptop - some TVs don't serve well as a monitor, but it looked great so I purchased it. I use it in my office, where I spend about 10 hours a day, and now after owning this for over 6 months, using it daily, I felt that could provide a worthwhile review. The specs on this TV are excellent, especially in the price range, The screen brightness, colors, and resolution are beautiful, and Roku, the built-in apps worked perfectly. Despite that, I don't use any of the built-in applications in that the Linux PC that is connected have access to all my music, movies, photos, and even TV via MythTV. And, even as a monitor, this TV has been working perfectly. I am able to change the resolution as it was a standard monitor, supporting all setting of my graphics card. Depending on how I move my chair or stand, I am between 40 and 80 inches from the TV / Monitor and use it for browsing, documents, spreadsheets, or movies. I initially though that it might be too large for my 10' x 12' office, but I could not be happier, and wish I had done this sooner.

This is not all quantum level dots, OLED level blacks but the TV does get a great many things correct. It has a fantastic image, fantastic refresh rates, Roku built in for full streaming. This is a great TV and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a great TV on a lower budget. My only request to be to have another USB port but there are ways around that and it not a detriment to the TV.

I'd like to watch movies in a totally dark environment, and I cannot bear the leaked light due to the LCD limited contrast. With FALD (full array local dimming), I don't see any gray background when viewing in front of the TV. You'll see some halo around the white area due to the limited zones of local dimming. However, viewing at the right angle you won't notice it. It's a great TV.

This tv is a steal at this price point. The only competition it has is probably the Vizio p series, but this one was cheaper and had lower input lag. I did so much research, end goal: 55" LED 4k TV - Goal around $400. There are MANY TV's on the market in the price point. After a week of searching I came across this. $99 bucks more for a TV that looks like a $1200 set. True 4k. True backlit panel. True HDR. This thing is NIGHT and DAY difference compared to any other $399-449 set you can find. Get it on sale while you can - AMAZING deal.

This TV has a great picture, good colors and contrast, Still learning the Roko

At $500 on sale, at the time, by far the best combination of picture quality and size that I could find. Vivid and crisp images. Was supposed to be the second TV in the house but popular demand may elevate it to prime number one TV. Hockey and football games really pop out to lifelike views. Again, $500 on sale, expectations blown away by great value. Roku is nice too.

For the price, the picture quality is very good. Also appreciate the built in Roku.

As advertised. And just as good as reviewed on CNET. You could spend twice as much and not do any better. Two notes. We used an optical to RCA converter to connect to our older sound system. All set. We found the "soap opera effect" jarring...wierd, in fact. But removing the motion smoothing fixed it easily. This is an amazing TV. Fabulous picture. ROKU platform is the best.
