The tv is just fine except for it likes to go to a white screen out of no where. I was told that it was because of the built in Roku (I don’t use it). Not sure if that really is the problem. The real problem; in my opinion, is that I’m a gamer & it really sucks when you are the middle of playing. I was told through TCL customer service that this is a problem that they experience. It kind of makes me wish that I had stopped being cheap & gotten what I really wanted. Other than that the saying is true, I guess you really do get what you pay for.

Very good quality for the price and like the Roku navigation. Picture quality very good but not perfect on full screens with white backgrounds like a hockey game.

I read a lot of independent reviews and did a lot of research and found this was the best reviewed TV in its price range. I am not disappointed. It's a whole new viewing experience. Very pleased!

    What a fantastic television

I purchased this TV to upgrade from my 55" TCL 55S405 set. The 55S405 is a decent set, but overall brightness was below my expectations and I was looking to upgrade to a more premium HDR experience. I can say that this 55" 4K 6-Series television really delivers on nearly every feature. Picture Quality: The picture quality is stunning. Just absolutely amazing. 4K HDR content just pops on the screen and the TV is able to push some great brightness level in both HDR and standard content. Motion interpolation works great in most instances (though you will want to disable it in some TV shows or films depending on the camera action). Contrast is great, blacks are black and colors overall seem very accurate out of the box. Note: My unit has no issues with banding and screen uniformity is overall fantastic. I have noticed that the corners are just slightly dimmer on an overall white or gray screen, but this does not affect actual viewing in anyway. There are some limited reports of vertical banding with the launch units so far. If you purchase this TV, make sure you check for vertical banding problems and exchange the TV for a new set if you notice extreme banding. Most users do not seem to experience this problem though, but this seems to be the number one complaint at the moment. Sound: If you are buying this set, you are going to need a soundbar. End of story. The sound output may be serviceable for a short time if you have no other option, but the overall quality is poor and tinny with very little bass. This is a problem with nearly every flat screen TV on the market though, so it does not reduce my overall rating of the product. Get a decent soundbar and have an overall wicked set. Design: The design of this TV is fantastic. The set has an extremely attractive metal bezel that looks like a premium set. The set is MUCH heavier than the 55" TCL 55S405 because of this added metal. Build quality seems a little above average for TCL, but is still only decent. There is some flex to the back panels, but we aren't looking at the back of our TVs while viewing, so who cares. HDR10: HDR10 content looks stunning on this set. Brights are extremely bright. Blacks are black. Colors look amazing. There are three brightness profiles to allow for easy adjustment depending on your viewing preference and enough options to fine tune colors, brightness, and other settings from there. I will say it again, HDR10 content looks amazing on this set. Dolby Vision: This is my biggest complaint with the TV. Everything I have read about Dolby Vision states that it is supposed to blow HDR10 out of the water. That is NOT the case with this set. I have viewed three separate movies with Dolby Vision on this TV and overall brightness is just abysmal, even in a dark room and on the brightest setting. The overall picture in Dolby Vision mode has a very gray hue to it and brightness level seems to be on par or even worse than my 55S405 in this mode. This is a huge bummer, because APPs like VUDU don’t allow you to choose HDR10 versus Dolby Vision. I have yet to find a way to disable Dolby Vision on the television to avoid this issue. My work around has been to view VUDU movies through my Xbox ONE S, that supports HDR10 buy not Dolby Vision. Making this switch for the same movie and switching to HDR10 turns that dim / graying viewing into a bright, colorful experience...the way HDR content should look. Hopefully TCL can push an update to disable Dolby Vision or maybe adjust to firmware to better handle this type of content. Do note that I have adjusted every setting I can find on the TV to attempt to make Dolby Vision look better, but it just does not look good on this set :(. Interface: Standard Roku interface. My overall favorite smart tv interface and I love that TCL continues to stick with the Roku design. The remote is small, basic, and hits all of the points that I need. I only wish that I could customize the four shortcut buttons that come on the remote. Two of the buttons are wasted because I do not use the services. That is probably my biggest gripe with their remote design at this point. Viewing Angles: This is where I start scratching my head. I have read many reviews on this set and the general consensus is that viewing angles are not that great on this TV. I have no reason to believe that people are not telling the truth. This has not been my experience. I have owned a couple TVs with bad viewing angles, and this is not one of them. The picture looks great even at exaggerated angles. Even going at extreme angles of at nearly 70-80 degrees from the center of the screen, the image still looks great. It is possible that TCL is using two separate panels or I hit the panel lottery? I have no idea, but viewing angles for me are great. Just note that most other viewers seem to disagree with my experience, so your mileage may vary. Inputs: Inputs are basic, but get the job done. No need for me to list all the ports here. View the specifications on this page if you want to see what the TV offers. I will say though that I am disappointed that TCL still only offers 3 HDMI ports on their units. For this size of unit, they could easily fit another port or two that would help many users avoid having to get HDMI switches that are often hit or miss quality wise. TCL, please add more HDMI ports with your future TVs! Overall summary: Pros: Amazing picture. Great peak brightness and contrast. Great HDR10 experience. Design looks premium. Very good motion interpolation settings. Decent input selection. Very good viewing angles. Negatives: Substandard sound from speakers. Dolby Vision content is very dim and grayish. Could do with a few more HDMI ports. Leg spacing is extremely wide compared to previous TCL models (I have mine wall mounted though, so a moot point for me). Glare can be an issue in some setups with bright light sources of windows (not an issue for my setup). The positives of this set drastically outweigh the negatives in my experience. However, do take note of the negatives to make sure the set would be a good fit for your use. For the price though, you cannot beat this feature set!

My Geek Squad warranty expired on May 11th, and my TV expired on June 1st. They seem to have this figured out perfectly, but I keep falling for it! It was a pretty good TV at the time. Good entry into 4K. I liked the ROKU platform. It had all the issues I read about in the reviews, like banding and uneven back lighting, but like I said, it was OK. I don't see TCL TV's as best picks on any sites now, so that's probably a sign. I guess I should just expect to buy a new TV every two years now?

Phenomenal performance for what I paid! 2 years ago I wouldn't be caught dead with TCL TV, and now they make TV's like the 6 Series that are just as good as the popular brands. This is truly a great TV!

It is better than the last TV I had, which was also TCL, in pretty much every way. I think this is the best looking screen in this price range. I know this isn't a very good review, and for that I am sorry.

While I didn't have the dirty screen effect, I had very bad vignetting. The corners of the screen were noticeably darker to the point where even my wife noticed. In the first end I couldn't bring myself to keep the TV. The image was very good, great blacks and colors but the vignetting sealed its fate. While I don't think you can find any without vignetting issues, if it's something you can live with then you'll love this television. Personally I returned it and got the Vizio P series while on sale instead and I couldn't be happier.
