    When we first assembled the TV and turned it on, we were impressed. However, it is larger than the stand we were sold for it and the feet hang off the edges. Within the week, the TV turned itself off midshow, but we assumed it was a setting we had messed up. Now in week 3,the random shut offs continue, 4 times yesterday! Going back to the store to complain tomorrow, they WILL be delivering a new one and picking up this glitchy garbage.

    This TV has extreme banding issues and clouding- as others have commented. We went through 4 different 55" TCL. We ended up returning the TV all together and going with the Vizio P Series. We are extremely happy with this TV! We received one delivery and the box and TV were perfect. It is definitely worth the extra money, plus you would need to buy a Roku stick- as this was not pre-loaded on the Vizio...either way we LOVE this TV. Very happy with this purchase and worth the extra money.

    We like the TV. It seems like a good value. The only negative is that sometimes it will shut off while we are watching it. I have been in contact with TCL about it.

    dazzling picture witha few quirks

    I love this TV and highly recommend it to others. Let me mention a few small things in the hope to make it easier for others. 1. When you start the Tv a screen appears telling you to go to roku's web site enter the code on the screen and when the activation is complete this start screen will disappear. I went to the web site enters the code and started enrolling with a free roku account and credit card info (you can skip this) and personalizing your new TV. Before I could complete this, an error message pops up on the TV effectively telling me I can retry or test my internet connection (I used an ethernet cable) and then retry. I went through this a half dozen times, Completing the online process, but the screen on the TV with the error message remained. I called TCL got the standard please be patient message. About 5 minutes on hold the the screen on the TV disappeared and I was good to go. I suspect it takes a while for Roku to activate the TV and you should just ignore the error messages. 2. The TV has wifi. Maybe it was my bad luck but after hooking up the TV, my laptop internet was slow. I switched to the 5 GHZ connection on my router and all was good. 3. The best buy version of this tv has a RF remote. Any physical obstruction blocks this. So my center speaker blocked this. I had to place it off center. If you can't see the TCL letters at the bottom of the TV, your remote probably won't work. If you have a soundbar, this may be a bigger challenge. Come on TCL move the location of the RF receiver off center!! 4. The TV and my Denon receiver have an ARC connection to pass sound from the tV to the surround sound receiver, but I could not get the TV to acknowledge it. I found an optical cable and that works fine. 5. My center speaker is 4 inches tall but the TV screen starts at 3.75 inches. I'm fine, but it's a trivial blockage. 6. If you have a smartphone, download the Roku app. It has a few video settings that the TV remote does not, you can upload photos to use as a slideshow screensaver for the roku home screen, you can use it one those times you can't find the remote. The roku remote is made of cheap plastic. I can't say how long it will last, but the app is a fully functional remote until you can order a replacement. Now about the TV. The picture is amazing. The sharpness and detail is night and day better than the 7 year old Vizio it replaced. I know all tv images are 2-d, but It also gives people and objects a volume rather than a flatness. I say this even though I am drawing from comcast and netflix which do not have 4k source material. So I assume it is upscaling. Finally, the blacks are finally really black. Before I has trouble seeing detail in dark night scenes but no longer. A number of people who bought this TV complained of banding, but I studied my TV images and see none of it. Also I see almost no bleeding in the corners. I'm sure if you spend considerably more, you can get a better TV, but I can't imagine a better value with a great picture than the 6 series TCL

    I bought the TV late September 2018. Occasionally it would turn off out of nowhere, but it would always turn back on before. It is now June 11, 2020 and it is completely dead. It won't turn on at all. I tried power cycling it and other suggestions for fixing the problem, but nothing is working. It is past the 1 year warranty so TCL won't do anything. Very dissapointed to have a TV last such a short time.

    Been having problems with this TV. It for no reason randomly shuts off. Ive been in contact with TCL for months and followed all reboot, reset instructions to no avail. The customer service had at first said they would send a tech and two days later now have declined to help as I am out of warranty. Wondering if others have this issue with series 6 TVs? Cant recommend.

    We decided to get this TV due to the excellent reviews we've seen online. The first unit the screen was busted out of the box, the 2nd unit now turns itself off at intermittent times while using the device (and it's now out of the return policy). We have turned off power saving settings and reset the unit to no avail. I would not recommend getting a TCL set. Spend a bit more and go with a more reputable company.

    The frame around the screen showed wow pixels behind it and it wouldnt find any Wi-Fi networks. Controller was very bad too.

    From the time I bought I’ve had issues with the TV turning off by itself. 2 repairs (under warranty) later i got a replacement and so far so good

    TCL 55" TVs got raving reviews over the last couple of years including last year's P series being one of the best rated TVs. I was thinking of replacing my bedroom plasma and decided to get 55R615 even though some of the initial reviews were pretty negative owing to vertical banding issue. I have had this TV for about 3 weeks and would say it performs really well. I did not see any issues with picture quality and was lucky to have a decent screen. TV does a good job with HD or higher rated material. Picture from Roku apps looks amazing. I primarily watch Netflix, YouTube, Prime and Vudu. Sports look good on DirectTVNow as well. I have also tried AppleTV and a UHD blueray player and the picture quality is outstanding from 4K sources. HDR content just pops and so the TV is plenty bright. There is just one caveat though. This TV has very narrow viewing angles. Picture degrades rapidly if you are sitting outside the good viewing angle (off axis). Mine is in the bedroom and so I watch pretty much from the front. However, if you are buying for a wider room like a family room, make sure if works for you.

    Repeated sound issues

    2.5 stars. Worked fairly well for three years, but now has sound issues - the volume gets stuck in one direction (have had both going up or down) and nothing permanently fixes it (tried unplugging multiple times, factory reset, etc.). It was previously also having issues with sound being too quiet and then suddenly being too loud when no changes were made to the volume.

    beautiful picture but after one day numerous vertical lines appeared. Had to return and picked a different TV. There are obvious quality control issues with this TV. Be warned.

    Terrible panel consistency

    Bought this based in being the among the highest rated budget TVs, but it was terrible. The corners were all MUCH darker than the rest of the screen. The banding across the screen was apparent on almost all solid color scenes. The audio and video were out of sync for every source I tried.

    I purchased this TV for my son because he wanted a TV with built in Roku. I saw the same exact TV for $100 less at another dealer after I made my purchase so I am not happy about the pricing. Also, the sound on this TV is not the greatest. The TV's stand/feet are awkward, slanted, and small which do not feel safe and balanced. It is impossible to place it on top of any 55" or 60" TV furniture stand.
