Spontaneously turns off and some of the pixles? stay white on the screen at all times and look to be getting bigger. These all started about 3 mo. after purchase.

We thought this TV was great, until the screen ALWAYS fails to turn on. It’s a known issue with the TCL brand, and a recurring one at that. Stay away from this product.

Pleasant "Pause" Surprise
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
Thank you to those of you that posted very detailed reviews! Please read those great reviews! My picture is clear and the remote is easy to use. I "connected" a couple of accounts such as Amazon Prime which takes a couple of steps but it was no bid deal.
The picture is beautiful. I am upgrading from a 32 inch Visio from around 2005 so that's my comparison.
PRO
Antenna TV - I connected my antenna TV and was SHOCKED to see how much better my reception is. It was ok before, so I am not saying it was very terrible but somehow this TV has given those antenna channels a boost! Also, i am not having to get up to move my antenna anymore when reception goes in and out. I am not sure *how* the TV accomplishes this but maybe another reviewer can shed light on this.
THE BEST PART - THE PAUSE
EEK!! Finally after years of not being able to hit pause (been without SAT TV since 2005) I learn that if you put a flash drive into the USB port, you can pause a live tv show for up to 90 minutes!!!! WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN. I am SO happy to be able to pause a show now for an interruption!! This might be common on TVs now, I have no idea, but I am so happy.
Everyone has a different focus and a different priority and that's what they use to evaluate the TV so I am happy as it looks great and meets my needs.
Sound
I already had an optical cable coming out a receiver, (I have celling speakers) so I had to disable TV speakers in the audio setup but that's typical.
Composite Connections-Remember..
I had a Wii connected to the old TV but composite connections are not on this modern TV so you need to plan on using adapters. I am looking at Composite to HDMI and assume that will work.
All of the connections are on the right side of this TV in case that makes a difference to you.
I have only had this TV for a few days but I don't see the banding problems or any problems for that matter.
I purchased the GEEK SQUAD plan because they will come to your house if there are any problems. I have been happy with the Geek Squad and they have actually helped me out with small issues on appliances. In this case, I don't think the warranty is a waste of money. It just makes life easy if something goes wrong. The Geek Squad people have been really pleasant to deal with over the years, even though at first it seemed like a rip off gimmick.
I did not need to pay for setup as I was just going to plug in an optical cable, an ethernet cable, and my antenna TV cable but the guys were nice enough to take it out of the box for me so that I could inspect it, and showed me the best way to attach the legs. The delivery guys ran late but they kept in touch with me.
Finally, I want to mention that in the store, Best Buy seems to *hide* the less expensive TVs. They do this by not displaying all models, or displaying the cheaper models in the back with no prices. They only show the prices of the soundbars on those models so you need to do your homework online and if you are going to the store, ask to see a specific model (If it's on display at that particular store). This goes for computers as well!!
If you are upgrading your TV, I highly recommend this one!

Hi Mike,
Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, advanced picture settings, and more. Furthermore, the Internet connectivity trouble you have described seems rather unusual. In order for us to assist we first need to gather more information. Please reach out to us at [email protected] with your contact information and reference this review, and someone will get back to you right away.

TV is good unless you bought this to watch Netflix, the Netflix channel continually buffers and I have talked to Netflix, Roku and TCL for almost a year with no resolution. Huge thread about this problem on the Roku forum. Bought the 5 year geek squad warranty and their position is that this is a manufacturer software problem so they cannot fix and this problem and it is not covered so wasted another $150.
Basically stuck with a TV with a "manufacturers defect" that no-one will take responsibility for.

This is physically a beautiful TV and the picture is generally impressive, however, the deal killers are immediate and very apparent: (1) vertical banding/dirty screen effect; and (2) vignetting. At times, I'm reminded of the pixellation present in displays during the early days of streaming video via the internet. So close to being a great product, but the picture quality issues have me preparing to rebox and return the TV.

First Good - As far as picture quality is good especially HDR Gaming, low input lag, amazing local diming. When you watch a movie black are truly black no light spill. Very bright in HDR and SDR
Now Bad – I had to replace one due to poor Gray Uniformity (Dirty screen effect). Replacement not perfect but not as bad that I cannot watch Soccer or Hokey games.
Very Bad - as of now (subject to change if fixed) TV keeps turning itself off.
I’m not sure who to blame TCL or Roku 8.2.2 update. When playing intensive Games like Call of Duty when a lot of action on the screen. It happens once a day so far due to my use after work. If you search online many people have same problem. I did hard reset few times and also used TV without activating Roku to eliminate extra activity. No fix yet. My TV still under warranty its only 1 month old. If this issue resolved could be perfect buy for that price.

The TV worked well for about a week. After that it completely lost it's connectivity functions: it couldn't detect any network and of course no internet means no Netflix, no Hulu and since we use the TV 95% for online content it became useless to us.
We've tried restarting, removing channels, even the complete factory reset and nothing. Apparently this is a known issue in TCL TVs as they acknowledge it... now I have to call and see if there's a repair for it... :s

Pros
-Picture quality is better than expected for the price. I bought this because my dog shattered the screen of my older but much more expensive Samsung KS8000. I thought I was downgrading, not so sure about that.
-The build quality of the frame and feet are weirdly good. Why does this 600 dollar TV have a metal frame and feet? MUCH more expensive Tv's don't bother with metal construction, it's a nice touch.
-Contrast is excellent, certainly better than the KS8000. In certain scenes the full array backlight can make blacks look OLED like without the worry of burn in.
-The built in Roku is fast and intuitive, i very much like it more manfacuters should use this OS. My old Samsung also had a great OS and interface but I will give the nod to the roku OS.
-Low input lag for games in game mode. Games feel rather smooth for an HDTV. I mainly game on a 1440p monitor with extremely low input lag, but this TV really doesn't feel bad at all.
-Near perfect screen uniformity. (On my sample)
Cons
-It could be brighter, not as bright as my old KS8000. This is really only a problem with HDR content. And even then it might only look a bit dim to me because I am used to the KS8000.
-Quality control issues. Read a whole lot about this topic, made me quite worried about buying this TV. Lots of reports of banding and dirty screen effect issues. I am happy to report that either I got a golden sample or TCL is doing better with QC nowadays, my unit was manufactured in June 2018. I have zero banding and maybe some very minor DSE. I did grey screen tests and the moving hockey player test, this thing is near perfect. The only flaw is a bit of vignetting in the corners which my old Samsung also had, doesn't bother me at all.
-The built in speakers leave a bit to be desired. They aren't horrible but no audio enthusiast would ever be able to live with them. I would say they are a bit worse than the speakers on my old Samsung.
-The remote is pretty much the same thing you would get with a roku stick. It's functional but looks like a cheap plastic toy.
-Eats more power than your typical 55in TV. Probably because it's full array.
-60hz panel despite the box saying 240 motion. This is more neutral than a con. I can't expect a 120hz panel on a 600 dollar 4k tv. I think motion feels fine regardless.
Conclusion
This TV is excellent for the money, the features and picture quality you get for The money is unparalleled. Next step up would likely be the Vizio P Series, it's a touch brighter and has a 120hz panel but costs 200 dollars more, up to you if it's worth it. Anyway i am very happy with the TCL 6 series.

Good so far

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
I purchased this TV last night and initial tests of some of the issues I've read about seem to be fine.
Vertical Banding;
I have not noticed any vertical banding while playing Playstation or watching videos. I did do a full screen uniformity tests as well and no visible vertical banding at this point in time.
Corners dimmed;
I do see an extremely slight difference in the corners of the TV. It's barely noticeable, but it is slightly darker in the corners by maybe a centimeter or so. Not enough to really be noticeable while using the TV, but if you put up the uniformity test, you do see it. I did not find it distracting in scenes with fully visible sky or anything.
Viewing Angle;
The viewing angle does not seem to degrade as severe as some other reviews have pointed out either, so that's a nice plus. I have a smaller room so this was a main concern I did have given previous reviews of poor viewing angle.
Dimming Zones;
I tried messing around with the dimming zone settings and I will say there's a little more light bloom with white lettering on black screen that I originally expected, but it's definitely within spec of what I find acceptable and could be a setting I have not adjusted yet.
Picture Quality;
The picture quality on this is quite good. Some reviews complained of the panel not being bright, but I found that I had to turn the brightness down to not burn my eyes while watching. That is likely a product of my room's overall brightness, but for my room it's plenty bright and looks great.
Sound;
It's a flat TV. Not much to say. For TV speakers, they're not bad, but you can't expect much from small speakers.
Overall I'm happy with the TV. For the price, the quality is great and will meet my needs (gaming and movie/show watching). I'm not much of a sportsball fan. If you're looking for top notch quality that blows everything else away, you should probably reset your expectations. Not just for this TV but any TV marketed at a lower price point. I know not all TVs at the higher price range reflect the quality for their price, but in general, those higher tiered TVs will perform better in some areas than this. That being said, price-wise, the quality of this TV is exceptional and worth it. There does seem to be a panel lottery with the banding issue, but with Best Buy's 15 day return policy and with a warranty that I'm sure most folks will want anyway, I feel it's great, even with the potential that you may need to swap for a new one if you get a bad panel. I will continue to test and will update my review accordingly to help the next person.

Hi Thomas,
We're sorry to hear that you may be having trouble with the Spectrum TV streaming channel on your TV. If this is the only channel you have having trouble with, it may be a problem with the streaming channel itself. You can first try uninstalling the streaming channel and then reinstalling it. To do this you can highlight the streaming channel on the home screen and press the asterisk (*) button on your remote, then scroll down to 'Remote channel'. You would then need to go to Home>Streaming Channels>Search Channels>Type in Spectrum TV. You would then select the streaming channel and select 'Add channel'. If this is still not working, you can reach out to us at [email protected] for further assistance.

I dont know why is showing this tv that i never purchased. Samsung 55” series 6 that I bought had some issues with the volume and they came to replace a part of the Tv. Now, whenever I turn the Tv It turn on and off for several times before stays on.
What is worst is that I don’t see that sell and that review wont go to that Tv because is showing as I purchase a TLC.
