Direct light of the screen makes it difficult to get the contrast, color, and brightness adjusted to makes blacks look black not gray. I eventually got the picture to look acceptable for $229.00, which I paid during the Black Friday month. The sound from the TV speakers works but I suggest a soundbar. I output the digital optical out to a Fiio BTA30 bluetooth TX/RX and listen on Sony XM4 and XM5 headphones most of the time. Dolby Atmos decoding works. The onboard bluetooth works. I think for the price I paid, $229 it's a good enough TV. I upgraded from a 12 year old 1080p 120hz Hannspree LCD which had really nice black levels. The black levels on this TV isn't that great but I am liking the higher resolution image.

This 55" TCL tv is a good quality tv. Colors and audio are both great. The picture quality is also very good. Accessing streaming services is easy too.

The picture is brilliant and easily adjusts to the room lighting. Connection was seamless and I was able to access my google account fairly easily.

Power supply is defective to turn on the TV

Although the picture is good quality, the TV power is faulty. On occasion, when I press the power button on the remote, the white light on the tv disappears to indicate the tv is turning on, yet the tv does not turn on. In order to fix this, I need to unplug and replug in the tv. This is annoying. I called TCL support and they refused to help me and refused to mark the tv as defective unless the tv is not working when I called them. Plus, their troubleshooting fix is what we are already doing, unplugging and plugging the tv back in. I’m very disappointed that BestBuy and TCL does not repair or replace our tv. The review does not accept videos, otherwise I would show a video of the tv not working. Instead, here is a picture showing no white light when attempting to turn on the tv.
