When comparing my dads LG OLED tv, it is great for the price. However, about 3 weeks now upon purchasing the tv, a green vertical line has appeared along with a white horizontal line at the bottom of the screen. The tv has been mounted and there was no structural damage done to the tv. It is very disappointing.

Horrible packaging

Not good for watching sports, but great otherwise.

While watching hockey, the puck becomes a blur when quickly passed, and it completely disappears when a shot is made. While watching baseball, the batted ball becomes slightly blurry. While watching golf, the same thing occurs. During shows, people's faces in the background appear blurry. I've made several adjustments on the TV, but I've had little success to make it right. The picture quality is great while watching movies.

Could’ve been great…

I setup the TV and was impressed at the picture; however, it required some tweaking and still seemed a bit red on the skin tones. The TV was super fast, but did have some issues with my sound bar not turning off via eARC which would then somehow prompt the TV to come on right after turning off. I had to disable quick start to remedy this. Then later I noticed a faint line across the screen when checking out GOW on Ps5. It was super noticeable in the grays and light blues. Found out this was some dirty screen effect and is common with some larger TV’s. It would sometimes do a flicker effect which could just be the game mode, but I had to fiddle with the settings on that too. The TV is great for basic viewing but not for what I needed. I ended up getting a Hisense U8K to replace it and am happy although it had some DSE as well but nowhere as bad as the Q7. Just be warned you will have to play with color settings to get the perfect picture for viewing.

Eh.. could be a good tv

My complaint is that 3 weeks after purchasing it, it glitches out where it will just flash back and forth from whatever app I’m on to the Home Screen and won’t stop until I unplug it. Sometimes it will do this and I have to unplug it up to 5x. I get it was only like $450 after tax but 3 weeks is really disappointing.. I will still recommend it because I could have simply just got a lemon

It does the job, the screen is good quality, and I have no issues with the sound. 4 stars for that. Set up is frustrating. It wants you to set up a TCL account, but I have yet to figure out how to do that. I wanted to keep using my Roku in order to connect to my streaming services, but the TV doesn't recognize my existing remote. Instead, it pushes you towards registering with Google. My biggest issue is that the interface is too busy. The home screen is a constant rotation of "picks for you" and new things to look at. Every time I pause a YouTube video, it defaults to a new ad screen with a QR code.

Decent qled TV. Get it on sale.

Picture can look real good, but sometimes the refresh rate doesn't keep up. Blurryness happens often. I love the new Google TV interface works well with my Google products also like my phone. The one downside of this TV so far has been is that the screen is very delicate and scratches easily I have a small scratch on it out of nowhere. I also had to do a warranty exchange for the remote because it just randomly stopped working today. Customer service made me do some pretty weird troubleshooting steps to try to get the remote to work even though I tried everything that made sense.

Disappointing for previous 6 Series owner

Coming from a 6 series, the brightness and the colors do not match the quality. There's no anti-glare coating on the screen, so unless you're putting in a basement room, you'll be disappointed. The control is a bit of mess with two TCL hotkeys, and the volume up and down that is difficult to find even though it has some sort of backlight (yes in the year 2023 this happened). Beyond that, the color gamut and calibration seem off out of the box. Support the competition this year. Let them try again, but stay away from this model.

Good tv with a surprise at night

Supposedly it has sth to do with updates being run in the background. Definitely a reason to return the tv if it happens more often.

Not a true QLed

The software and OS is pretty good, don’t have any lagging and I feel it as same level as Sony Bravia.

Google TV sucks

It takes multiple button presses and menus to just switch to HDMI. And even though you can change it to remember what you had it set to, it just constantly goes back to Google TV anyway to show you more ads.

TV is good value at the discounted price

It has much more to offer than other premium brands such as Sony, Samsung and LG TVs that are around this price point. My biggest complaint with this TV is the pre-calibration is terrible so if you’re interested in buying this TV make sure you change up the settings when you get it. Also when you turn off the TV there is a slight audio delay around 1-3 seconds where it still plays audio when you turn off the TV which is pretty annoying.

Go with a TCL Qm8 if you can.

I have a lot of high end pc monitors and for television, I have the TCL 6 series (2018) and LG C1 (2019). The picture quality differences between my now 5+ year old sets and this one is immediately noticeable. The image isn't sharp on this TV. This TV would be suitable for a college student or someone on tight budget for TVs. TCL is a very good brand and if you want to see TCL's best, I'd recommend the Qm8 and above.
