Honestly, I was initially thrilled when I got such a large TV for such a low price. However, after a few days of viewing, that quickly turned to buyer's remorse as I wished I had spent just a little more for a better TV. The biggest issue is that the screen is of low quality. Yes, it is 4K resolution but the colors are shallow and pale. There is no depth to the color, everything just looks flat - blacks are pale and greyish, reds and yellows are dull. The colors are weak and there is NO contrast. There is also a faint glow of the LCD backlight that creates a faint white halo around the screen during dark sequences such as fading between movie or game scenes. Worst, this TV is unviewable if there is daylight coming into the room, the weak screen and color output cannot overcome the glare. In order to watch TV, all curtains must be closed in order to see what's on the screen. I actually prefer watching our old LG 42" TV that his replaced because the picture is so much better. Sure, the resolution is lower and the screen much smaller but the overall picture quality on the old TV is just so much better while glare is almost non-existent. I bought the TCL TV on the internet so I didn't have a chance to compare the picture in store before buying. Curious how it stacked up to the competition because I was so unhappy with the picture quality, I went to the store to see what one looked like next to other TVs. Sure enough, other TVs costing only about $100 more had a far better picture - LG, Samsung, and Vizio had much better color and picture depth than the cheapo TCL. I'm also highly dissatisfied with the settings and control features of this TV. The TV is entirely solid state and controlled by software, in theory it should be almost infinitely adjustable for brightness, color, contrast, speaker settings, sound output, etc. However, there is no control over contrast and color while there are only a few brightness settings that do almost nothing. Sound control is non-existent. In short, I do not think the small amount saved on this TV was worth it at all. For only $100 more you can get a much better TV. If that's still too much, then there are any number of 55" TVs that cost the same and will blow this TCL out of the water in terms of picture quality and features. Spend a little more or get a slightly smaller TV and have a far better long-term investment for very little money. This cheapness of this TCL really shows.

      Hi Jesse,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. There are options available to adjust the picture settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, expert picture settings, and more. If you need any further assistance, please reach out to us at [email protected] with your contact information and a description of what you need help with. Enjoy!

This tv has been 5 star worthy for 3 years but being it is only 3 years old and completely died this morning for no reason and with no warning or signs of issue, it is now 3 star worthy. I have 2 more tvs in my home (different brands) that are 6+ years old and still working great so I’m very disappointed in this particular brand.

This is a delayed review. I bought one of these about a year ago. No problems. Great picture. Very simple to operate. The Roku channel is still evolving so you may want to hang on to your cable subscription. Not necessary just something that I do because I like to surf the Cox line up. I have about half a dozen TCL Roku TVs. They all work fine, great pictures, never had a problem.

I've always been hesitant about brands that I'm unfamiliar with, especially when it comes to consumer electronics. After having this TV for almost 2 months I have to say, it's probably the best quality I've ever had. I've gone through 3 Smart TV's in the past 3 years that were 50" and up, including LG and Westinghouse, and I gotta say, I've never been happier with this TCL. Though it might not have all the minute features that some others may have, this still has excellent quality and ease of customization. The built in Roku OS and simple remote make it so much easier to navigate and have access to loads of entertainment that I regret not getting one sooner. The HDR 4K display is absolutely gorgeous when it comes to movies and games, and it performs extremely well with the smart TV features like Netflix or even screen casting your phone. All in all a top quality product that I would recommend to anyone looking to add to or upgrade their existing setup.

Absolute Trash - Google black screen issue

My wife bought this TV about 4 hours ago. We brought it home, left it in the living room for a few hours and then about an hour ago decided to get this thing up and going. We took it out of the box, plugged it in and what do you know...the screen is black. We start pushing buttons and we can hear the sound, but the screen is pitch black. I go through the steps on their website because apparently this is a known issue for them and nothing works. I called the customer support line and the rep said I can return it, or wait 10 days for a certified TCL person to come out and fix it. I get that this is a discount TV and most likely isnt going to last forever, but this is just pathetic. It was never turned on. Before you buy this, please google the issue. You will see all of the people having issues with all models and sizes. If I would have done a little more homework I would have never looked at this piece of garbage. Do yourself a favor. Spend the few extra dollars and buy a real TV from a real company. We have a few Vizio TVś in the house and one Sony. Guess how many have had issues like this over 5 years? Well for those who cant count very high you are in luck, the answer is zero. This was my first TCL product and will obviously be my last. Let this be a lesson for others out there. It is my own fault trusting some amateur TV company and falling for a good labor day sale. Hopefully this review can get at least one person to not buy this TV so you do not have the same awful experience I just had.

Had this TV for an year and this has been a nice to us. Easy setup and has all the features of the money grabbing brands. This TV made it though some rough handling during a house remodel, dry wall was covering this guy for three days and just took water and a lint free cloth. I bought this when it was 650 dollars and loved it and now it's under 500.

It may not have all the bells and whistles like the higher end 4k TV, but for the price great TV. You can't adjust certain picture settings like gamma etc and it doesn't have Dolby vision. But it's a 65in for a 55in price basically!
