Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the 65" Class 6 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV, particularly its picture quality, price, and Roku operating system. Many customers rave about the superb 4K HDR picture quality and find that it offers great value for the price. The Roku OS is also widely praised for its user-friendly interface and rich HDR content. However, there are some concerns about the remote control's quality and the TV's durability, with a few customers reporting issues such as vertical banding and a short lifespan.

Avoid this. Broke right out of warranty

I did a lot of research before buying this tv. I really liked it. Babied it since opening it (never touched the panel, didn’t move it, etc). One day pretty close to the warranty expiring it got a horizontal gray line of stuck pixels. Well that line is just always there and I’m stuck with an expensive tv that although has good design and build quality, the internals are bad. I will not be buying another TCL in my lifetime. And I was really campaigning for this brand and model to friends and family before it got this issue

Opened the tv, turned it on, and there are horizontal and vertical lines across the very top and down the side of the TV. I called the manufacturer and they claimed it's not covered by the warranty. Wow. Do not buy!!

      Hi Dan,

The lines that you have described seem like they may have been a result of shipping damage. Regrettably, physical damaged is not covered under the limited manufacturer's warranty. All of our TVs and packing are designed to withstand the rigors of shipping, but sometimes things happen that are out of our control. We take great measures to ensure that the TVs we send out are in great working condition. It is recommended that you contact your retailer as this is something that they may be better able to assist you with. Best of luck and happy viewing!

      Thank you,

This tv gives the most bang for your buck in terms of the amount of features you get for under $1,000 for 65 inch tv. I researched every tv and for this price you can’t beat it!

    Incredible Picture, Amazing Value

Every time I had visited Best Buy, Id stop by the LG OLEDs and marvel at the picture. I had planned on getting an OLED but just couldnt bring myself to spend that kind of money. Long story short, while the OLEDs are still the best, the picture on this TV is close enough for me and Im a discerning viewer. It really is that good. Believe the hype and believe the reviews. The contrast is fantastic on this TV. Yes, you will see some "halo" effect for bright text on an all black background. Its not an OLED after all. But this is minimal and FALD works great. The Dolby Vision will blow you away. I like the fact that this TV needs minimal calibration. Just choose Movie for SDR and Dark HDR/DV for HDR and Dolby Vision, turn off all sharpness and you are basically good to go. One downside to this TV is that any advanced picture settings need to be accessed in the Roku iOS App. Why? Its a baffling decision and if you didnt have the app you may never know. The good news is you will rarely need it. Th only other downside is that this model, while the same as the 65R617 doesnt come with a voice remote. Its not a big to deal to me, but some may want the remote. Is it possible to get that remote from TCL and use it with this TV? Id assume so, but I havent checked. The Roku OS is awesome. Im upgrading from a 4K Dolby Vision LG IPS panel TV with webOS 3.0. webOS is really good, but the Roku interface is even better and has an app for anything you could ever want whereas webOS is missing basics like HBO Go. The Dolby app is great for showing off Dolby Vision content to your friends :) It was really smart of TCL to license the Roku OS so they could spend their effort engineering the hardware and not have to worry about great software. I had read about QC issues, vertical banding, and dirty screen effect. I ran some youtube test videos and *think* I may have seen some vertical banding, but no TV will be perfect and in normal viewing conditions I didnt notice it at all. I was too busy being mesmerized by the incredible picture. Unless you want to spend at least 2x this price for an OLED you cannot do better. TCL is really making a name for itself with amazing value and high quality.

We had originally purchased a Sony TV. However, after doing some price comparison, we returned the Sony and bought the TCL TV. So far we have been pleased with the results for the amount that we paid for the TV.

CNET rated this 65 inch 4K ultra TV the best in 2018 for less than $1000. I absolutely agree. The only unknown is that since TCL is a start up company it’s best to get the best buy extended warranty for added insurance.

Good value for the money. You can't really go wrong with the 6 series from TCL. I wish the UI was a little snappier though. It slower than my standalone Roku Ultra box from 2019.

We’ve had our Tv for a month now and I could say it has been an amazing ride. The 4K on it is amazing when watching. I will say that it changes when you connect the Apple TV but it still pretty great.

TCL quality control is absolutely terrible. The Dirty screen effect on this TV is terrible. Areas on the screen look blotchy, When the screen is displaying a solid color. So the uniformity of the image is terrible. Even my extremely cheap HDTV from another manufacturer doesn't have this. Also a faint grid pattern is also noticable because for the full array backlight.

Do yourself a favor and save up a bit more $$$ and buy something in the $1K plus range. Or save money and spend $300-$400 on a nice 1080P TV. I don't know why more reviews don't mention it, but for sports specifically this TV has severe motion blur and ghosting issues that make sports a pain to watch. If you turn on the "Action Smoothing" setting that is supposed to help with motion blur it actually makes the motion blur worse (causes really bad flickering and ghosting). And if you turn on the "LED Motion Clarity" setting which is specifically meant to help with motion blur with sports it just makes the picture worse while not improving the motion blur. For movies and TV shows the picture is good, but considering sports are nearly unwatchable I can't give this a good grade. Any time there is fast movement on the screen it has issues and that's a pretty big problem. So, yeah, buy a nice 1080P TV that won't have these motion issues while still having a good picture or ball out and spend $1K plus on a nice 4K TV. You won't regret it. I feel like I got punked reading reviews on this thread, because this is not a TV worth $700. Oh, and the commercials on Roku TV are louder than the TV shows/movies which is maddening.

I was a little nervous going with this model since the brand is relatively unknown and the price seemed too good to be true. But it’s a great TV with features you’d have to pony up another $1k to match.

No complaints. I heard you might have to play the panel lottory but I was lucky and did not have to. The story is the only real complaint people have is that TCL had a bad QA run on these panels.
