Customers are saying
Customers have good things to say about the 65" Class 6 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV, particularly its picture quality, price, and Roku operating system. Many customers rave about the superb 4K HDR picture quality and find that it offers great value for the price. The Roku OS is also widely praised for its user-friendly interface and rich HDR content. However, there are some concerns about the remote control's quality and the TV's durability, with a few customers reporting issues such as vertical banding and a short lifespan.

Great for the price.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the TV but had had some issues with the screen showing red lines. A reboot fixes it but nevertheless annoying.

Great TV At a Great Price - Sweet Picture, Sound..
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been looking at this TV for a while and I'm glad I was finally able to get one. The Best Buy model is 65R15, but it's 65R17 everywhere else. The only difference I can find is the 65R15 comes with an IR remote without voice control. Not sure why Best Buy prefers that, maybe it was a target price point issue. The difference between the two models is $30, but maybe it was more initially. I remember when the MSRP for the 65R17 was $1099 and I think the 65R15 was $999 back then. I have only used the TV one week, but I will say that the picture quality is amazing. I was concerned about SD and HD content being grainy, but that content displays great, at least as good as my other SD and HD TVs. 4k (not HDR) content displays better than my other 4k TVs. This is my first HDR TV and it is amazing especially the advanced HDR content. This is not a full array local dimming TV and my guess those TVs may display some content better, but I'll tell you that I haven't seen anything yet and after opening it, I watched a good amount of SD, HD, 4K, HDR, and advanced HDR content especially scenes that would show off quality or issues and I have no complaints. The best to show the amazing picture quality of this TV so far was Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. It was much better than when I watched it in 4k without HDR. For a lot of people, maybe most, you might not even notice a difference between HD, 4k, 4k HDR10, and 4k HDR Dolby Vision for many shows. There might be a scene here or there that would show off these features. However, there will be some shows with a lot of scenes to show it off. I'm a big fan of fantasy and SciFi movies and shows, so there is lots of opportunity for great scenes. Picture quality is great, the sound quality is pretty good for TV speakers, the build quality seems great, and the TV looks nice. I was able to get my cable box to control it and with that remote I can control power (on/off), volume (up/down/mute), and input. For input you have to keep pressing the input button to change source and then stop pressing the input button to select the input. This is the norm for cable box remotes controlling TVs. Being able to control it with my cable box remote is really great when we just want to watch cable TV. One thing to note is that it has feet close to the edges, so you'll need to have a wide stand or get a VESA mount that can handle this TVs size, weight, and VESA specs. I have had one issue. A few days ago everything seemed to be working until I played a video and then I would get audio and subtitles, but not the video content. It was the same for 4k, HD, and SD and I tried Vudu, Netflix, and Amazon. I could navigate the Roku screens, load an app, navigate the app, but playing a video had the described result. Going into settings and choosing the restart option fixed the issue. My guess is something was messed up with it's ability to decode HDCP content. I have the fast start option enabled, so when I turn the TV off and on, it's usable in seconds. This means that the Roku and likely other components are just going to sleep or hibernating rather than shutting down and fully booting. Hopefully, this will be rare. My only complaints are really with Roku. 1) Remote Mess: Roku has way too many remote configs and their lack of consistency between remotes is ridiculous. Some remotes that can control a TV have volume controls, but not mute while others do. Since the remote that comes with the 65R15 doesn't have voice controls, I paired a spare Roku Ultra remote that does. It did pair with this TV, but I wasn't sure it would because it won't pair with Roku Stick+. The Ultra remote is technically better than the one that comes with the 65R17 because it has the game buttons, but the Ultra remote doesn't have mute. I would love to know the technical reason for excluding the mute button. Another thing with Roku remotes. The ones that support TV controls, should have an input control button. Doesn't help me much if the TV input isn't on the Roku, but I can turn it on and control the volume. It's really silly. An extension to the remote mess is there are other buttons like sleep, game mode, etc listed in the documents for this TV, but none of the remotes have them. I've seen those options on LG Roku TV remotes though. I don't know if it's a marketing thing, a pinching pennies thing, or some other ridiculous reason for this mess, but they need to get a sensible group of people to make remote decisions with a directive to get to fewer remotes, sensible reasons for the differences, and more compatibility across devices. 2) Private Listening with HDMI Inputs: This doesn't work. I've read some reasons why elsewhere, but the reality is there is not technical reason why this worn't work. It's a mater of making it work. If they can introduce a delay for sync with any app, then they can do it with HDMI content, they just have to add the tech which has been around for a long while and is pretty cheap. There are devices that can take SPDIF output and transmit it wireless, bluetooth or whatever. Rather than traditional bluetooth, Roku could transmit the audio to the phone or remote. This would be a lazy approach because it couldn't backup the content so no audio is lost. The devices I mentioned work pretty well, but it could be a use at your own risk. The problem with doing it the right way, likely has more to do with fees related to being able to store and playback content with HDCP encryption. These TVs are pretty low cost, but a small price bump to support this would be worth it.

Expected better
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is one of several TCL TVs I bought. I have soured on them. One went into recovery mode and wouldn't come out. This is a known problem that TCL hasn't addressed. To make matters worse, they said it's 10 days too late to be addressed by warranty. Expected better.
