Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the 65" Class 6 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV, particularly its picture quality, price, and Roku operating system. Many customers rave about the superb 4K HDR picture quality and find that it offers great value for the price. The Roku OS is also widely praised for its user-friendly interface and rich HDR content. However, there are some concerns about the remote control's quality and the TV's durability, with a few customers reporting issues such as vertical banding and a short lifespan.

Bought the TV got it set up and it was awesome...beautiful sleek fancy looking. The picture was amazing quality and 24 hours later the right side of the screen had big black bars going down the screen and 1 on the left. So we to it back and got a different brand. But it did start out as a great tv we which it would have worked out for us.

      Hi Cricket,

We're sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with your TV and that you were not able to see the same great picture quality a majority of our customers are seeing. We have glowing reviews on many professional reviewing sites and also from our customers. So it is a bit baffling to hear otherwise. The 'color change' problem that you have described is very odd, and not something we have heard before. We find that most of our customers are more than thrilled with the performance of our TV. I wish I would have done more research before purchasing this tv. Was a great tv, but only lasted a year and a half before it just completely died. And of course it’s out of the year warranty and if it even can be fixed, the cost is going to be outrageous, I can buy a brand new one tv. Apparently this has happened to several people. Poor quality for such a reputable company. Do better TCL.

The TV works, the ROKU works. Does not have the voice remote that the newer model on TCL's website has. The corners are noticeably dimmer than the rest of the screen which is why I can only give it two stars.

I bought this tv for the ratings this had, but now that I have it at my home, the tv do not work so fine like a better brand like Sony, Samsung, Lg. There is some blurring and the old movies does not get a good update, they got a bad color and a lot of bars. I want a Sony now and I can not return the tv because I pass the return date.

Amazing TV From 5P605 to 65R615 - Observations

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

So I have loved my 55P605 that I bought last year and decided to add a 65R615 to the household so that the boys could use the 55P605 downstairs with an Xbox One X. Dad gets to use the new 65R615 in the living room with an Xbox One X. Wow, this thing is incredible honestly. I may end up going for my "forever" TV next year that is OLED or Samsung QLED expensive HDMI 2.1/Freesync/VRR etc. to take advantage of those features in my Xbox One X too, but man this thing is incredible for $999. I am loving what TCL is doing enough and the Roku OS in these that I would at least consider any quantum dot higher end model that had things like HDMI 2.1 features from them next year too though. Observations so far: - Of course the size alone at 65" does make it that much more immersive and "theater like", which is awesome - The premium feel and look to this thing with the brushed metal is so much nicer than last year's models, really great looking now in the living room (wife even is happier than expected with the new electronics purchase :) ) - It definitely seems brighter in general than the P605, and I swear that I was seeing additional colors when rewatching Planet Earth II again on this - I watched some of the same 4K HDR test videos on YouTube that I had on the P605, and they definitely seemed to have more "pop" such as the Sony glassblowing demo - I watched the Dark Knight Rises on 4K Bluray last night through my Xbox One X, and it looked absolutely amazing. The Batman movies are relatively dark a lot of the time in general, and I think that the great contrast was really shown when watching this. And some of the places where HDR highlights would be expected such as sparks from gunfire and such did seem to jump out more to me at least - I fired up a couple of games briefly so far on my Xbox One X and didn't notice any issues with input lag which was a strength of last year's model, and it seemed that Red Dead Redemption in 4K looked even better now - Like the additional motion processing options, but haven't had a chance to play much with what they do in practice yet - Really like the physical power button in the lower right (wife is a big fan of this too) and the fact that the LED standby light is actually on (can turn this off if you want in settings) when the TV is powered off and not on when powered on, as this is a good visual check to confirm that the TV is truly powered off and not in some power saving/screensaver mode like happens with things sometimes - It is nice that the stand legs raise the TV just enough above my Vizio soundbar in front compared to last year that I can now use the included remote without having to stand up or contort at a very high angle, lol. Note that I did have to invert the stand legs inward as some have mentioned to have it fit properly on my TV stand, but it wasn't a big deal and actually looks almost nicer to me that way in my setup - Roku OS as usual is a huge plus for these TVs and is awesome, would be one of the tough things about considering another TV when I go to HDMI 2.1 sets if TCL doesn't have an option at that point that meets what I am after next year or the year after

Very soon after purchasing this TV, I noticed some heavy banding and dark scenes did not look great. I just assumed this what you got when you didn't spend a couple grand on a TV. I lived with it for 13 months until the unit just died. Tried all the troubleshooting but it would not turn on. I was a month out of warranty so TCL customer service told me they couldn't help. I realize this isn't a top of the line TV but a $1000.00 TV should last a little longer than 13 months. Save your money and go with one of the bigger names.

Best 4K HDR Picture for under $1,000!

I have had a rough month with televisions. I was very green when I walked into Best Buy last month to get a new 4K 65 inch big screen. At the time that is all I knew I wanted in my new TV. I first got a Samsung 65' MU6300. Coming from an old plasma Panasonic I was happy with the TV. The picture was cool and I liked the OS. Then 2 weeks after getting it, I walk into the den and the screen is flickering and I have a red blinking power light. I loaded that TV back up and immediately took it back. Next I was told that the LG UJ63 would be a little bit better than the Samsung. That was not the case the picture on the Samsung was better. So at this point I was unhappy and was like all I can do now is try a Sony. Instead of trusting another sales person I decided to do my own research and came across the TCL 6 series. In doing some research I also saw that the two sets I bought before were entry level sets. So only so much could be expected. I read about the TCL 6 having Dolby Vision to deliver a high level HDR color experience. I read about the 120 contrast zones and other tech spec stuff most of us won't understand. So let me make it plain. The picture on this Television is "AMAZING" I watched "King Kong Scull Island" and was in awe. At one point I paused the movie to make sure I was seeing blood on Kong's fur. I could see that much detail. The dark scenes in the movie looked great. That movie was playing on HBO. I rented 3 other movies that I played through my entry level LG 4K blue ray player. 2 movies were regular blu-rays and 1 a regular dvd. All 3 looked great pretty much the same. So between the TV and disc player the up-scaling was outstanding. Lastly I watched The Temptations on VH1 I believe and it even looked amazing. Pretty much it doesn't matter what channel or streaming service you are watching it will look great on this set. When Lebron James was at the free throw line this weekend I could clearly see all his tattoo's lol. I'm telling you the picture on this TV is a work of art! Also the Roku OS is very easy and user friendly and the speakers in the TV are above average. The TV itself looks great and has a very high end feel. I am more than a happy customer. I want to personally thank Samsung for putting out a defective set. Without that set going out on me, I would not have found my true love!!!

Got this tv because of all the rave reviews from CNET and other outlets. But unless you are watching 4K content the picture is grainy and looks bad. I had to make the color dark not to notice it. Returned it and got a Samsung which I should have gotten in the first place. I was also a little annoyed that Best Buy has there own model number for the TV to stop you from price matching.
