Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the 65" Class 6 Series LED 4K UHD Smart Roku TV, particularly its picture quality, price, and Roku operating system. Many customers rave about the superb 4K HDR picture quality and find that it offers great value for the price. The Roku OS is also widely praised for its user-friendly interface and rich HDR content. However, there are some concerns about the remote control's quality and the TV's durability, with a few customers reporting issues such as vertical banding and a short lifespan.

    PHENOMENAL ...EXCEPT

This tv would get a 5-star eating in almost every way possible, except for the dead pixel in the middle of the screen. It passes every single measure, but after spending almost a grand on something it should be free of all defects. One dead pixel is not tolerable. I will return it to Best Buy tomorrow and get a new one, and hopefully update my review to reflect a 5-star quality television.

Great screen but will die within 2 yrs. AVOID!

TV will not last more than 2 years. I owned for 18 mos, where the TV worked fine, great picture, and not enough to really complain. One day out of nowhere, the screen goes completely black. Factory reset, and a number of tests with customer support could not resolve. After five mins of googling, I found I am not the only one with this issue.. Read the comments in the link below, as well as others who have purchased here. COMMON theme for the TV screen to die within first two years of normal operation. Without extra warranty, the issue will not receive warranted attention. It is very unfortunate, as this was a great TV until then ! Most of the TV reviews are based on a 2 week, maybe one month test. Long term use not possible with the badhardware components. Bad LED backlight and main board connector. I, like many others are stuck to find and pay for add'l TV repair, or look for another TV overall. Hi Meesh,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear about your experience as this definitely does not sound normal for one of our TVs. Our TVs are carefully designed and engineered to give our customers years of entertainment. Our TVs do come with a 1-year parts and labor manufacturer's warranty for those rare times that defects occur. In cases like this, if you purchased an extended warranty, you may want to reach out to see if you can file a warranty claim through the extended warranty company. Furthermore, if you purchased using a credit card, some credit card companies also provide additional coverage. We will continue to make improvements to ensure our customers the best experience possible.

    TV crashed in 2 days

The first two days with this TV we’re for the most part, wonderful. Gorgeous picture, best OS (Roku) you can get, and style galore. Then, the interface began flickering, acting erratically, and ultimately freezing into the green and white barred mess you can see in the pictures from 2 different reviews below. What a mess. Gonna give it one more try. A new one is being delivered Wednesday. Fingers crossed. Dear TCL rep. see the green and white screens of death in the other reviews and know that’s exactly what mine did. Hope the new one works out.

If you have already owned a great picture big screen and really know what a good picture is, don't buy this TV. I purchased this thinking the picture would be slightly below a Samsung but I was willing to give there for the the feature this one has that enables live tv rewind. But wow, the picture was bad. Think of watching video through the protective screen that comes on the screen of new electronics. Could not get a good crisp picture no matter the settings. Another complaint is the the up scaling of of non 4k video is considerably bad. I took the set back and instead purchased a Samsung costing 300 more but oh what a difference! Super clear pic and vibrant colors. QN65Q6FNAFXZA. I owned a 1600 dollar Sony that had an awesome pic but it went bad. I just could not handle the inferior picture of this TCL though. If this is your first 4k tv then it should be fine as you've not gotten used to an awesome picture quality. On the pros of this TCL I will say that the roku operating system is pretty dang good. It ran as smooth as could be. Back to the bad, I also did not like the limited options when it came to picture adjustments. To get a few more adjustment you have to do them through an app on a phone or a tablet. In the end though even with those few more picture setting options, I could not get a super clear crisp picture.

    Terrible post purchase service

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Purchased a 65r615 three days ago. Set it up and first time I turned it on there were several vertical and horizontal lines starting in the upper right hand corner. TCL said there must have been ‘possible external impact’. I said, maybe but it had to be before I took possession. They said ‘that’s not covered by warranty’ (even though it was faulty when I bought it). My favorite response - and this was in an email I still have - “You may call your retailer for additional help if you purchased an extended warranty plan or consider allocating your funds for a new TV.” In other words, “buyer beware - you get whatever is in the box. If it’s broken when you get it, just buy another one.”

    Horrible Experience with TCL

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My parents bought this TV in late November and had it mounted in early December. Now the TV has vertical lines and the panel appears to have been broken in the corner. TCL's reply was that we should have bought the extended warranty and they do not cover issues with the panel. It's very odd that the manufacturer doesn't cover issues with the panel itself. If you purchase, buy the extended, or get a better company. They seem to go in circles saying that it was Best Buy's issue. Best Buy states that they just sell the item, and nothing happened within the first 15 days so we can't return it. Upgrade to Vizio/Sony/Samsung, ANYONE. At least their service is better. TCL's support just wants to get you off the phone and not have to deal with actually replacing and fixing the product. They then state that it's cheaper to buy a new TV then get a the panel fixed, which is probably true. But why would you go back to the same company to get a new TV? Simply put, do not buy from TCL.

      Hi shaydawg,

We’re sorry to hear that you're having issues with your TV. Regrettably, physical damage would not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty. You can visit https://www.tclusa.com/support/warranty to find more information on our warranty requirements and limitations. The cost of the panel is the majority of the TV, and in many cases would not be cost effective for a customer to try to replace. With situations like this, we encourage our customers to check with the retailer they purchased from to see if they cover this type of issue with the TV.

      Thank you,

Initial research lead me to a great TV on a budget with kids where TVs don't matter as much. The additional money on a TV with realistic quality control would have saved me this headache. I got it home, hung it on the wall, and found vignette in the corners, a "dirty screen", an 2 clear vertical bars. After further research, you will find that TCL's quality control makes this TV a hit or miss. When it's good it's great, when it's bad, it's terrible. My wife is far from a techy and she immediately identified these flaws that can't be overlooked. It will be returned and valuable time is lost.

    Only works for 4k

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

If all you watch is 4k or you have a separate TV for regular HD, this is a good choice. But everything else is unwatchable. HD content looks worse than a TV from the 80s. I contacted support and they said that’s normal and if I want a better picture I should get a TV with LOWER definition. MOST programming is not available in 4k, so this device is essentially useless. Very disappointed and will be returning. They should not claim to support HD if they know it will have a very poor picture quality.

      Hi Sv3n,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. We're sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with the picture quality on the TV. This is rather unusual as this TV typically produces a beautiful picture. It is normal for all standard 4k TVs to upscale non-4K content. When displaying non-4K content, it has to upscale the size of the image (like zooming in on a picture on your phone). There are more and more providers of 4k broadcast and content everyday. For optimal performance and quality, it is recommended to utilize 4k content. One thing to check if you are using a set top box that is 1080p, is that the box is set to output 1080p. By default some boxes are setup to output at 480i. You can find out by selecting the cable box input on the TV and pressing the "ok" button on the Roku remote to find out what the output format of the content is. Hope this helps!

      Thank you,

I really wanted to like this TV, just got it today. I wish the quality was there. I have the infamous vertical banding issues. The motion is horrible, my 6yr old Samsung 8 series blows this out of the water. Cannot play FPS on the TV at all!!!! Plus there is a flicker to the image in anything but 4K. Oh yeah, I cannot get HDR to come on, save the Dolby vision demos. Even though I'm signed up through Netflix etc. I'll be returning it & trying a Vizio P series.

    Dead After 4 Months

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Based on the mostly stunning reviews I was quite excited to buy this TV. I must say for the first 4 months it seemed reasonable quality (picture, sound, controls, etc.) pretty average actually. Nothing really to write home about - not bad, mind you - but just did not seem so special. Almost 4 months to the day after it arrived it stopped working. What I mean is that after about every 5 minutes or so of operation it would turn itself off. I was concerned about buying an off model, i.e., not Samsung or LG - my worst fears came true. How can I recommend this TV to anyone? I can't.

      Hi DKLowellian,

This does not sound normal for one of our TVs. As you mentioned, we do have glowing reviews on many professional reviewing sites. So it is quite odd to hear reports like this. However, all new TCL TVs come with a limited one-year parts-and-labor warranty for those rare times defects arise. We would love the opportunity to look further into it for you to see if there is anything we can do. Please reach out to us at tclsocial@tcl.com with your contact information and reference this review, and someone will get back to you right away.

A ton of problems getting this thing to connect to my router but I managed to do so. Everything was going great until I started hearing a cracking on the bottom left part of the TV. I can't put the sound far up because there's this vibrating sound that makes it go "ping". I tried every sound setting to get rid of it, but it won't go away. I got up and placed my hand on the spot and the "ping" sound does dampen. I'm sour, very sour on this.

    Power supply board issue twice

During the first few months we had this TV, the power supply board burnt out. It was replaced due to warranty. Now, after 3 years, the same thing happened, except that it's no longer under warranty so TCL customer service did not even bother recommending someone to fix it, saying there's nothing they could do.
