Good picture, excellent and intuitive Roku integration. Its easy to switch between the cable TV (Xfinity X1 service) and Roku. My only complaint is that plugging earphones in mutes the built in speakers. My wife is deaf and needs headphones, but when they are plugged in I hear no sound from the TV. Right now the only option if we want to watch together is to have the sound turned right up, which is too loud for my comfort.

Great picture with some minor annoyances

Let me start by saying the picture quality on the tv is fantastic. This unit replaced a 6 year old plasma and there is a very noticeable upgrade to the picture quality and detail even on none 4K programming. I did a lot of research before choosing this model and I do believe, like others have said, it is the best bang for your buck out there. My annoyances are with the remote and the sound output through the toslink digital output. The remote is a standard Roku remote, which would be fine if it wasn’t line of site only. Our TV sits above our fireplace in a recess with a mantle below. What this means is that I spend a lot of time holding the remote over my head to get it to work. Not so annoying turning it on or off, but very annoying when surfing for something to watch on Netflix. There is also a frequent double button press on the remote that seems to be a common problem with these TVs that I have yet to resolve. Finally the most annoying item is the Dolby Digital sound output. I have a older receiver that does not have a ARC input through HDMI so I have to use the digital toslink connection. The problem is that the tv only sends out 2 channel sound through the digital out unless you go into the settings and turn off the speakers for the tv, only then do you get Dolby digital. That would be fine If you only use the receiver for sound but we use the tv speakers most of the time and the receiver only when watching movies. After all, I don’t want to hear Sponge Bob durning the day blasted in surround sound. This means the wife and kids turn on then TV in the morning and no sound, no way to turn it on without me going into the settings and turning the speakers back on for the TV. It seems like a waste since this tv has Roku built in, but I may just buy a Roku Ultra (since I gave my old one away) and hook it up to the TV, that would solve 90% of the problems I am experiencing. Then I could just sit back and enjoy the stunning picture.

    A Truly Smart TV

A great TV. It is truly smart and we can easily stream from many streaming services/channels. Adding specific Apps for each one couldn't be easier. Colors are vibrant and the experience is excellent. We had purchased a Sony, at the encouragement of a salesman and 24 hours later, we were back at the store to get this TV swapped out with the Sony. The TCL doesn't need a Roku to access more channels, so that is one less remote needed. A Win - Win!

The TV is okay. For the price, the roku and the size make it a pretty good deal, but unless you have 4K channels or streaming, the picture quality is only okay. My samsung that I bought six years ago is comparable to this television, so I plan on exchanging it. If you need a second television, or if picture quality is not most important, this would be a good option.

      Hi Trinominican,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. There are options available to adjust the settings to better fit your personal preference. You can access the Options menu on the TV by pressing the asterisk (*) button on your remote while watching content. Additionally, you can access expert picture settings by downloading the free Roku mobile app on a smartphone or tablet. The Roku mobile app works as a remote and allows you to access additional features like voice search, private listening, expert picture settings, and more. Hope this helps & happy viewing!

      Thank you,

      Sara

For the price you can’t beat this TV. I know there’s mixed reviews, and like all electronic there are a few lemons, but don’t let that discourage you. I paired it with the Nakamichi 9.2 Soundwafe system and I couldn’t be happier. HDR, Dolby Atmos. Dolby Vision, are all at your fingertips. The ONLY thing I would recommend is when you set the HDMI cables, you don’t use AUTO, you set them to 2.0. This will allow you to take full advantage of your XB1X or other devices.

My LG plasma is still going strong, and still displays amazing color. But this is the first tv I’ve purchased since that puts it to shame. The colors are amazing. While watching some play Fortnite, I could not believe the definition in characters and colors. Popped in Tomb Raider, and it’s like a whole new game. Everything just looks...better. Disney Plus movies are incredible to watch. CNET says this is the best TV on the market for the money...they were right.

I'm thrilled with the quality of the picture. The built in speakers are not great but I wasn't expecting them to be. The other day, though, the sound went out. I switched to different inputs and there was no sound. However, it made sound when I pushed buttons on the remote, but no cable show or PS or Roku show or HBO Go made any sound. Scary. Rebooting didn't fix it so I pulled the plug and waited a while. That fixed it and it hasn't happened since. But I'm nervous.
