Bought this TV online and Best Buy delivered the next day. After removing my 3 year old LG Susie and I put it in place. Now let me say this is my second TCL set, and I'm in love with the Roku system. Best if you like to keep it simple, and it truly is. But my problem is with the picture. No, it's the the quality of picture, per say, but I'm seeing a cloud like effect on the screen. Almost like watermarks that are very obvious with light backgrounds. As I was watching the Farmers Open the sky looked like rain clouds in the distance. I assumed that it was the actual weather. It wasn't till the next day that I saw it in a commercial with a similar background. I began to panic and started to look at other channels and again found the same problem. I tried to talk to someone online with Best Buy but got an error message. Than I called my local store where I'm very comfortable with their staff, but being it's Sunday today, I never got through. I must say all I've read, both consumer and professional reviews, hold this TV in high esteem. I'm hoping it may just be my particular set. I did have a concern after the TV was delivered when I prepared to unpack it I was surprised that the bottom of the box, where the weight of the TV sat, wasn't connect to the rest of the box. Not sure why that was as I've bought several TV's from Best Buy over the years, and prior to this one, bought one at Christmas for my son. I'll save a complete, final review when I'm able to talk to someone there. I so want this to work, and I've already sold my LG TV to my neighbor.....

Great Quality QLED Smart TV for Gaming, PC, Movies, Etc. If your in the market for a Big Screen QLED under $800 this is it. Easy Set Up did it solo. Didn’t give full Stars just cause I don’t want the Company getting Comfortable. Not gonna bore you just let the pictures do the visual talking. 06-13-2020

The 2019 6 series QuantumLED is a tremendous value at this price and is a significant step up from the already amazing 2018 version. I know because I have a 55R617 in another room. The 65R625 handily beats its predecessor in color, HDR pop, contrast, black levels and dimming performance. I am not a professional reviewer by any means but I have owned several high-end plasmas and other full array local dimming LCD's from the big boys and this is simply the best set I have owned. Check out the review on Cnet for the opinion of an actual professional who has already proclaimed this set as the best value of 2019. The roku interface is amazing and super intuitive and I just love how all the inputs and internals apps are grouped from the home screen. If you plan to do any gaming, this set has THE LOWEST INPUT LAG EVER MEASURED! It is quite a bit snappier from the already quick R617 from last year. If I had to pick negatives, the list would be small. It is only a 60hz panel so the motion may not be as smooth as the sets out there with a 120hz refresh, however this has not been an issue for me. Also, if you need to put it on a stand, the feet are super wide. Again, not an issue for me since I have mine wall mounted. I can't speak for the sound as I have mine connected to a Denon AVR with a 5.1 set up.

A few days after purchasing this tv, it started freezing and resetting when I paused live tv. Then after a few months it began to randomly go to the purple screen of death. See photo. After trying everything I could find online, it got so bad that it wouldn't ever turn on and work at all. So, I finally contacted TCL only to be told that their warranty works for 1 year and I was now a month over that. The TV was lovely when it worked, but this has been a total hassle and now I have a barely used TV going to the trash.

    Frustrating experience

Ugh - VERY frustrated with this TV. I did all the research showing how this was the option to choose (instead of Samsung or SONY) for this price-range... I sat down to watch my first show, and noticed an odd shadow on the screen every time there was a bright shot of the sky. As a test, I pulled up a you-tube video of a solid white screen, and sure enough, there are a few significant shadows in the display (see photos - though they look worse in-person). These shadows are there all the time regardless of time-of-day, or TV position, etc. This is especially annoying for a TV that I specifically chose based on all the reviews describing how great the image is. I called TCL support - the tech was very helpful - walked me through several different reset methods - nothing fixed the problem. He told me to deal with Best Buy. Unfortunately, Best Buy told me I would have to bring the unit back to the store to do an exchange or refund - and the unit is not in-stock at that store - so I'd have to wait for one to come in. Instead of going without a TV for several days, I instead decided to buy a 2nd unit & have it delivered with the plan to return the first unit at that point. The 2nd one arrived today - brand new, and the display is completely busted. When I power on, all I see is a bright white circle in the bottom right corner and cracks running up and down over the rest of the display, so that plan was a failure. I REALLY wanted this TV. I love the ROKU interface, (although once a day I have to unplug power to the TV b/c the interface seems to crash/freeze). At this point, I think I will be forced to go with a different brand. Very frustrating!!!

Picture is gorgeous. 4k content so clear and stunning. Even the standard HD content I have watched looks real good to me, that's because it does upscaling really well. I haven't watched any bottom low res 480p stuff on it. The colors are so bright and pop. Roku is fast and works well. I did expect the picture, software, and colors to be decent - the TV delivered and was at least as good or better in most every regard. But there are these WOW moments in content where the deepest darks contrast with the brightest vivid colors in a fantastic way. An experience that can be mesmerizing. Another thing I did not expect, hadn't heard much nor gave care to the sound cause I already have a sound bar for it cause of poor sound from prior TVs Well, the sound seems plenty loud and full. Really wasn't expecting that. Its more than adequate as it is, theater mode is good enough that I am just going to take the sound bar off my mantel. Don't need it anymore. As for the brand TCL, yrs ago I wasn't sure what to expect when I stepped away from Samsung smart TV to my first TCL roku TV (55s405). But that dirt cheap tv worked so much better than the buggy/limited/slow/awful Samsung smart TV I had. It was an earlier Samsung Smart TV, slow & always gave me freeze ups and glitches. I went on to buy a better more expensive TCL, the P607 which was a great upgrade for HDR content over the s405. Still have both of those TVs. They have been used daily since I got them, years now, one hardly ever gets turned off. Still both working flawless. TCL has been a very good brand in my experience. As far as ease, speed and functionality, Roku is better than my old Samsung, better than LG and Vizio TVs my relatives have, it works and works well. So now I went in bought the 65R625. My kids are like, "Why? We have a TV and it works perfectly fine." Then I hooked it up and we start watching. It only took a few minutes and they quickly understood. Daughter said "Now I see why, I didn't know a TV could look like this. So much better." Last note. The R625 comes default set with "Action Smoothing", which is their version of the "soap opera effect". It's a motion processing that I find way too agressive and surreal looking. Depending on the content, it can be an interesting effect. But i have no idea why this is their default setting. Set to high right out of the box. But in my opinion it is not an effect to have set on everything. Way to weird. It is just a setting, like local contrast or sharpness, and can easily be turned off. In my opinion, the default should be the "Natural Cinema" setting. It works well with everything, smoothly and normal. Change it in picture settings by turning action smoothing off and natural Cinema on. Every picture mode (vivid, movie, natural, Dark HDR, bright HDR, etc) has default settings and changing any one thing (like color, sharpness, or motion) only changes it for that picture setting. It stores and remembers any changes but the change will only apply to that one picture mode. Well, Action Smoothing on High is default for every picture mode. If your like me, you will end up turning it off and Natural Cinema ON instead on each mode you end up watching on this TV. There are times I turn on Action Smoothing, for specific content. But it is not something that I think looks good for the majority of content out there. I have seen others talk about this, most people do not like the soap opera effect and those that do, don't think it's great for everything. So if your watching something and it looks weird, turn off Action Smoothing and turn on Natural Cinema so it is natural and normal looking. I think TCL having this mode on for their default has some people thinking the tv does bad with motion cause it looks weird and wrong. The action smoothness is just an effect they added on purpose, not the natural processing. So it's an added feature but some reason TCL has it turn on high when you first start using the TV. I advised turning it off and then Natural Cinema set to ON, as the base. Later, you can test out the motion smoothing on content and be able to compare to see if it adds or takes away from what your watching.

The tv was damaged the screen had a bullseye on the top middle that spread out like a spider web the glass was not damaged but the screen behind it was. Most all reviews I’ve read it seems you have a 50-50 chance of getting a damaged screen from TCL I lost the lotto I am returning it to Best Buy they currently have no other tv in stock so I will see what happens

I purchased the first TCL 65" TV which I used curbside pickup. When I unboxed the TV, carefully following instructions on the box, the TV had a cracked screen when I turned on the TV. I returned the TV to Best Buy. Best Buy processed the return very easily and placed an order for second - great service. This time I selected the free delivery to my house/garage. Again I unboxed the TV carefully following the instructions on the box. Again the TV had a cracked screen when I turned on the TV. I returned the TV to Best Buy. Best Buy processed the return very easily and quickly. I couldn't move myself to go for attempt #3. I subsequently purchased a Sony 65" TV elsewhere and it worked like a charm or like the numerous other LCD TVs I have setup.

This TV has a FANTASTIC picture. Deep colors and dark blacks make for outstanding contrast. The ROKU interface is easy to use (and the app on my phone is convenient too). The only complaint I have (and it's minor) is that the motion smoothing features create a blurred edges around the objects (as the internal computer tries to buffer the image for a higher refresh rate). As I don't really like motion smoothing, it's a non-issue for me. If that's something that's important to you, you'll have to go with a higher-end (more expensive) TV. For the money, this is a TERRIFIC TV.

This tv replaced an older 13 year old 46" Sony xbr tv, so I was blown away by the 65" size with quantum colors. My first Roku & TCL experience has not disappointed...very easy for everyone to use. There's slightly better sets for a little more from competitors but this was the best priced 4K set from Bestbuy during Football championships! It has amazing black levels & colors. And HDR gaming is awesome! Movies with DV&4KHDR look super in a dark room from Netflix &Disney+! Regular TV upscaling has been near perfect. But There are a few minor issues to get around with settings that can help counter them. 1) Motion sometimes appears laggy on fast action scenes or fast panning scenes, but use natural cinema mode motion and all is better during most difficult content. 95% of the time tv looks spectacular & Sports always looks fine to me. ; also get Roku app to change other settings to improve things. 2) Crushed blacks (according to professionals) occur on Dark Dolby Vision/HDR content, but you can turn local dimming to Med or get into the Roku app and turn Gamma to 2.0 from 2.2 to brighten details in dark shadows. 3)Video samples playing from an external hdd that have a Dolby TrueHD/Atmos sound track cause tv to Reset and reboot.-this used to be ok before a Dec2019 update, so hopefully TCL fixes it. 4) There's a chance of dirty screen but I rarely ever see any on test patterns, so this is better than older tcl6 and other TVs. However I did have a couple stuck grey pixels, so this was one of my biggest complaints ...however only visible if I'm 4 feet or less from screen. I decided to excuse this since the tv looked mostly fine for the price. 5) Peak brightness was slightly less than older Tcl6 and more expensive 4K TVs but still plenty bright rated around 680-1000 nits. I set Brightness to Bright most times, and Brighter mode during 4k HDR/DV content and its sometimes blinding. 6) HDR & DV sometimes acts up if you change the mode from bright, dark, or normal hdr modes during playing... so after changing mode, stop the video and then resume video and all is good. 7)Audio lag sometimes occurs for streaming devices, so sometimes the audio directly from streaming device is better to be used. Later TCL will add VRR mode for gaming consoles and PC so hopefully they'll also fix some of the above issues. I'm thrilled with the TV despite issues, as long it provides me 5+ years of enjoyment.

TCL QLED has great value, excellent picture, and is very easy to use (built in Roku is a big plus). My son loves the Roku, ease of use. I got it even cheaper for Black Friday. If LG OLED is too expensive, this is the next best thing (and much cheaper, about 1/3 of the price for the same size). The only negative is they don't have much style (about an inch thick with sharp edges). Highly recommended.
