    Excellent Picture, Troublesome Sound

This TV hands down looks better than any TV in its price range, and most for a few hundred more. Cable TV looks more vibrant than on my older model. Hooked up a 4K Blu-Ray player and both 4K Blu Ray and regular Blu Rays look fantastic. The only real problem I have with this TV is getting the sound to sync with my soundbar. I bought the Vizio SB46514 at the same time as this TV and have never been able to get the sound and picture to sync. When watching movies on the Blu Ray player (plugged directly into the soundbar via HDMI, then soundbar to TV via HDMI-ARC) the picture lags behind the sound. This is not a huge problem, as the AV Delay setting on the soundbar allow me to delay the sound so it matches up with the video. When watching TV via my cable box hooked up to one of the TVs other HDMI ports, the sound lags behind the video. This means using the AV Delay setting on the soundbar only makes the problem worse by delaying the audio further behind the video. I have been in contact with TCL support and have not been able to fix the problem. Switching the audio setting on the TV to PCM-Stereo gets the closest to fixing the problem, but greatly diminishes the sound quality. If you are using the TVs built-in speakers, buying this TV is a no-brainer. If hooking up an external sound device and multiple devices into the TV, the above problem may plague your set-up.

Fantastic TV for a Bargain Price!

If you are looking for a great UHD TV but don't want to pay $400 of $500 more then this is the TV for you. I did a lot of research on this TV and couldn't resist the price. I purchased the Series 6 QLED 55 inch and it looks great on a wall mount! Best Buy also had a 15% off coupon so my purchase was below $500. I was skeptical at first but based on the reviews from CNET, RTNGS.com and others, this is definitely the best TV for the money. The TV was easy to mount. I replaced it with a 50 inch Samsung UHD TV i bought only 3 years ago but that TV developed sunspots on it from the mirrors falling lose on the panel. Out of the box and turning it on, the setup interface was a breeze. This TV has built in ROKU, it takes a little to get used to from the Samsung smart interface but it is easy to use and to get to your favorite streaming programs. The only complaint with ROKU is the very small remote. The volume and mute keys are on the side and I often find myself muting the TV when picking it up. A very small issue, I can use my DISH remote for watching satellite TV. Once the TV is on there will be numerous calibrations to make for the best picture, out of the box it is just OK. I suggest tuning to a show on ROKU that has a Dolby Vision picture. I used the suggested settings for the TV based on the detailed review from RTINGS.com. It is at its best with Picture Mode in "Movie" and color temperature to "Warm". I havve my TV in a bright room so my picture is set to "Bright". At night, the picture is too bright so I set it down to "Normal". There are some other settings that are best left off to avoid the "soap opera affect" as the images are unrealistic. There were reviews about sports viewing not being good with shadowing but I have not experienced that at all watching hockey, basketball and football in 4K with no shadowing or stutter issues. The picture is crisp and clear so I suggest turning off the Action Smoothing and the LED Motion Clarity. This also keeps the picture looking as natural as can be and movies in the movie mode more theater like. Also, with Motion Clarity on, I notice considerable flickering. The upscaling of the TV could use a little improvement as from time to time I get jutter movement when the camera pans. But remember, the picture was filmed with outdated technology so keeping up with a clean picture from a TV series in the 70s and 80s will not be as clean as watching a true 4k or UHD filmed movie or tv show. The Dolby Vision picture is amazing! it displays a picture as good as the expensive Samsung, LG and Sony OLED TVs. This is where the TV excels. Dolby Vision is truly noticeable with a much more crisp picture than 4k and slightly better than UHD. The speakers are small and tinny so invest in a decent soundbar. If you can find one with Doby Atmos it will match with the content that the movie or show was filmed in. Overall, I am extremely pleased with this TV and for under $500 for a 55 inch flatscreen, the hype about TCL is very true. Again, have some patience with your picture settings but after you get to the settings you like, it should not have to be changed again.

Purchased the TCL r625 few days ago coming from the 2018 model r615 I have to say and it's not what's better the motion in my opinion is actually worse the colors and dark levels seem to be better the blooming is a bit better but that motion it is really noticeable and my panel has the ever-so-slight is dirty screen effect not sure if I should return it because it is not that noticeable watching most content but when watching a light screen like the sky or snow it is noticeable to me because I know what I was looking for had other people look at it and see if they can notice it but they couldn't until I pointed it out to them overall it is a decent TV for the price but I probably should have just kept my six one five because I don't see that much of a big difference

    Great QLED roku tv

This tv has a great screen with vivid colors and clarity. The Roku apps are miles ahead of anything else you can buy, simple and fast to use, no garbage. The tv was simple to set up and the attention to detail in the design of this tv was very good. The only negative thing I experienced was that the tv stand legs are set on the outside corners of the tv and my tv entertainment center did not have enough room for them to fit, so I had to go buy aftermarket stand legs for $18 that attached to the back mounting holes and then it fit. Not really a problem withe tv though, more of a problem with my space allotment. But something to think about when you buy it. I wanted to buy a Samsung QLED tv but wanted a Roku system and decided to buy this tv instead, and I am very glad that I did!

Guys at work have been making fun of me because I didn’t have a 4K for at least a year! I’m so glad I waited because none of the guys bought a QLED but one guy that bought an OLED whose wife has deep pockets! None of them have this TV! One thing I noticed the chasis is we’ll built! Not just a mass of plastic . I like the menu and the picture is awesome while streaming 4k wirelessly. I haven’t noticed any buffering at all. Netgear nighthawk X6S router neaby! One of those guys was jealous that I was getting a QLED for $699. Nice

Many review sites still rate the 6-series as the best value, and they don't lie. Picture quality is easily on par with sets that are twice as expensive. The Roku interface makes everything nice and easy. If you're looking for a great value, but still want great picture quality, then this is the TV to get.

I bought a Samsung NU6900 65” for my bedroom last year. Less than a year, it would not connect to the internet and the audio skipped non stop, trash!! Decided on a TCL after watching several reviews. Wow!! The 6 series Qled is beautiful. It rivals my LG Oled with picture quality. I am beyond happy and as long as this tv holds up!! You will not regret buying this!!

Great in 2020, complicated image settings via Roku

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I got this tv on 2020, last year model. And overall I like it and will keep it/ I believe the best of this value this year is H9G, but the this tv is the best value per dollar. I have read closely the reedit posting and avsforum and is seem that many of the complains that were true last year , or even in September 2030 have been addressed via firmware updates. Many options that were reported as troublesome or finicky have been upgraded and improved specially after roku 9.04. eArc is now standard and there is a glimpse of hope of getting VRR (available in the 55r625). So, after these firmware upgrades, what are you missing vs the 65r635 ( this year model)? Well, not much. In theory, the r635 has a better display (miniled) , vrr, highest brightness and 1440p @120Hz. Take this things with a grain of salt. VRR will not to 4k@ 120, miniled is fine, but its a first gen tech and firmware, yet the visual quality, uniformity, blacks and other metrics are better on the r625 (and now it has eArc). Your new ps5 or xbox x will not be supported at full rez. For me movies are more important than gaming. If you go to rtings and you see what the compare review . What do I dislike about the TV? Color is not accurate out of the box, and you may have to calibrate and / or play with the settings. Be aware than the tv keeps segregated settings for each input and each mode (hdr, sdr, dolby digital), so if you use all inputs you may have to reenter all the settings 12 times. Color settings are only available while content is playing so there is no way to adjust the colors when the menus ( either the streamer menus, roku menus or the xbox/firetv/chromecast) are displayed. it is annoying. The Roku interface will bombard you with advertisements. And the Roku app, the only way to enter calibration settings, can be buggy and non responsive. But it is getting better. If you think you can live with making color adjustments, a over advertised interface (roku) and with severe tweaking, if you do not want to push your 4K hdr console and you want to save 100's, this tv is for you. But if you want color accuracy out of the box and no commercials, and an easier way to adjust, well, look somewhere else and pay 500-1000 dollars more for similar performance .

Pros: Great picture, vibrant color Cons: Super thick TV set, especially down by the base No Bluetooth support - I know I can't believe I had to write that either. Seems like a no brainer on a TV this new, but TCL didn't get the memo that bluetooth should be STANDARD.
